Quote:I've had a character named Sweet Sassy Molassey on one of the servers (I forget which) for four or five years now. She's a dark/dark defender, I believe, and she's styled sort of like a Foxy Brown or Christie Love kind of 70s blaxploitation heroine. I think she's up to about level 25 at the moment (altitis, dontcha know). The first reason I came into this thread was to gloat that I'd stolen the name for a future CoH character. Nanny-nanny-boo-boo!
No, not Twilight Guardian! I'm talking about "Sweet Sassy Molassey." Snagged and reserved on the [redacted] server. Dunno what type of character he or she might possibly be, but I'm all set, name-wise!
Second reason to come in here was to learn more about this 'Twirly Gumption" character, or whatever the name is. My first dog was named Troy, and I lived on Hickman Boulevard at the time, in [redacted], [redacted]. Great city and state to grow up in. So I have built-in sentimental reasons to check this out.
Don't fail me, oh Falsettoed-Jabbering One!
And I've had a lot of folks check out my comics, but dog-names and street addresses may be the most unusual. But I'll take it! -

Mark Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme maxi-series.

That's a hell of a thing.
Lots of films, and even if she'd never made anything but Silver Streak, I'd want to thank her.
Godspeed. -
That looks very much like the plastic turtle that my red-eared slider, Eastman, is constantly trying to mate with.

Quote:Here's a link that I think still works: http://www.newsarama.com/php/multime....php?aid=21907Didn't you used to have a link somewhere in the forums a few or a couple years ago to this comic? I could have sworn I read a few pages or more. If so any plans to put a link up or re-link the comicbook so we can read it? Also any plans on making it a webcomic, to be honest I read webcomics and not really comicbook comics.
That's the one-shot. The series is going to be even better, with some great new artwork, abouit forty new heroes and villains, lots of background on Twilight Guardian, and sammiches. -

Quote:I'm not surprised. My girlfriend hasn't heard of it, either.Troy,
I just called my FLCS, and they have not heard of Twilight Guardian. What can I tell them that they need to know to get this ordered, e.g., release date, publisher, etc.?
It's from Top Cow, it comes out January 12, and it's in the latest Previews catalog. Also, it won Pilot Season. If they can't find it from that, they may be aliens in disguise. -

It's not the amount of text; it's how well you utilize it.
I generally think that not only do too many of today's mainstream comics use too LITTLE dialog (thereby making the story move like molasses), but they also have too many characters using dialog that ends up either being pointless or needlessly expository. It's probably a consequence of "decompressing" stories for the trade paperback.
In my head, I usually think in terms of AVERAGING five panels to a page and three captions or word balloons to a panel. -

No, just a woman protecting a nine-block area around her neighborhood. In the real world. And somehow I'm going to work in about three dozen superheroes. Go figure.

OK, folks, tons of you have PMed me about it and asked in threads, and here it is: Twilight Guardian (the mini-series) #1!
Since you guys were so tremendously instrumental in helping us win the Pilot Season competition (and thereby earning this series), I hope you'll check it out! It's featured in the new Previews catalog. Ask your comic shop to order some, spread the word around, and have TG tattooed on your most prominent body parts!
Thanks, and I hope you dig the comic!

Quote:I'm really sorry about that, but there hasn't been a way of doing it. Sooner wanted to be written into a comic in some fashion, and unfortunately I don't get to do them very often (hopefully that will change soon), so there hasn't been an opportunity yet. The next thing I have out is the Twilight Guardian mini-series, but because of the concept, there wasn't really a way to do it there.I invited him personally to the Protector Vigilance channel a few months back, so if he's online (which seems a rare treat these days) we can reach him.
If you'd like I can talk with him since I ran the auction.
In any case, if you're not getting what you expected I will be available to do a full refund. I'm holding some inf from that auction still (for N P C / Mentor Project) and can also cover it with my own stash.
I'm willing to chip in some game moolah for a refund, too, though, or fork over some comics, or work you into an AE adventure (I'm hoping to do some more in the near future, though presumably not as a guest author), or wait for another opportunity, or whatever it takes. I aim to please (you aim, too, please). -

That doesn't really seem to make sense, though, since almost any name other than stuff like "Lizard-Man" or "Varpo the Power Cowboy" are going to be SOMEONE'S name. If I call my new blaster Dave Johnson, I've used a name shared by thousands, but I'm pretty sure it would never be genericed.

Quote:Is that the regular time? Because I teach Tuesday nights. But if I were to end them a bit early, who would complain? So does that mean we'll have a rolling thread with snarkiness and wit (well ok, snarkiness) while the show is live Tuesdays at 8 EST?

I like it!
I like the upbeat tone, and the family-friendly quality, and the fact that, yup, superpeople are allowed to fight! Chiklis makes it for me, but I like the rest of the cast, too.
The daughter has to get over the "I don't want to be different" stuff, though. As other posters have noted, that's trite, and frankly, I rarely ever buy it in comics. Yeah, if you become The Thing or the Acidic Jew, you might sometimes wish it hadn't happened, but most people who gain superpowers would be jumping for joy.
Anyway, I've got a new show to follow! -
For anyone else like me, who missed the pilot, ABC is supposed to be showing it again in about seven minutes (9pm EST).

It's because Glee has become less dependable than it was. For most of the first season, I knew that on most episodes I'd find myself both laughing and crying (what...what...?). The last few have been much more hit and miss, though, and this format of "whose music will we do THIS week" just seems so forced that it leaves me a bit cold. It still has its moments, though.
So far my least enjoyed show of the season is "The Non-Event." -
