and dual wield Archery for my stalker preeze?
[/ QUOTE ]I can has a Dual Shields Blaster? -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not talking about sets that have one power, and thats it. Not "you get one tier 1 attack that can be leveled up to tier 9 after 50 levels". I mean one power set, like just picking elec blaster abilities, and thats it. Thats where a lot of people seem to be getting confused.
And willpower isnt available to all different arch types.
I was just curious to see what everyone else thought about the idea, and clearly the majority are not in favor. Thanks for voicing your opinions though guys and gals.
[/ QUOTE ]Why do you WANT to not take a secondary? I read the whole thread, and I'm still not clear on that. I don't think it's as much that people are opposed, as they aren't sure about your "why".
If you REALLY want to not use a secondary, then just do so. Don't take any secondary powers unless you have to, and remove them from your tray when you do. You wont get quite as many slots freed up as if you could really skip a secondary, but it'll be close.
Or was there some other reason you had in mind? -

And maybe a special type, aka Arcanaville: 'the mathematician".
or would it be 'the probability in the void' ??

The latest version of the list. (Changed "Grouper" to "SGer", "Teamer" to "Grouper", added a new version of "Teamer", added Player-specific descriptors.)
Farmer: A player who repeatedly runs content for the Rewards (XP, Inf., Prestige, Drops, etc.). Although any content can be farmed, and any goal can be farmed for, Farmers generally concentrate on game content that gives an above-average amount of XP (and other Rewards) for the overall effort needed to collect it.
<ul type="square">Powerleveller/PLer: usually a subset of Farmers, Powerlevellers try to get a character to level 50 as fast as they can, so they can do things with that character that they cannot do at a lower level.
Leveller: A player who plays to get the next level, the next power, the next set of slots. They enjoy "finishing" a character and starting the next one. The difference between them and Powerlevelers is that speed is not as much of a factor, nor are they necessarily Farmers. (Neuronia)
Roleplayer/RPer: A player who enjoys the role-playing aspects of the game, from having a specific concept for their character that guides their choice of AT, Origin, Powers and Costume, to creating an entire life story for their character, to staying "in character" as much as they can while interacting with other players. RPers frequently also write fiction about their character(s).
<ul type="square">Concept Artist: An RPer who enjoys the "concept" aspect of RP, combining AT, origin, powers, costume and bio to fill out the concept of their character, but is not as interested in interactive RP. (The_Rose, TeaLeaf)
Actor: An RPer who focuses more on the interactive portions of RP, and isn't as concerned with the "concept" of their character(s).
MRP/ERP: An RPer who enjoys "Mature" or "Erotic" Roleplay. (Note: MRP/ERP is a bit of a "touchy" subject in the game, and many RPers react negatively to it. All RPers should be assumed NOT to be MRP/ERPers until confirmed otherwise.)
PvPer: A player who enjoys Player versus Player combat, whether in the Arena or in the PvP zones.
<ul type="square">Duelist: A PvPer who prefers 1-on-1 combat.
Badger: A player who enjoys collecting badges. Often specializes in a specific type of badge.
Content Monger: A player who enjoys collecting souvenirs. (Umbral)
Marketeer/"Ebil" Marketeer: A player who enjoys "playing the market", increasing their Influence/Infamy through buying and selling at Wentworths/The Black Market. "Ebil Marketeers" are often claimed to be manipulating the market to their own advantage (the actual practicality of that is a subject of frequent "discussion").
Hardcore: A player who enjoys the challenge of trying to avoid ever being defeated. Either from level 10 up ("Debt = Delete"), or at ANY level ("Defeat = Delete"). (Note: this usage of "Hardcore" is different from "Casual vs. Hardcore".) (Austerity, all the Hardcore Supergroups)
Min/Maxer, Optimizer: A player who enjoys figuring out how the get the absolute best Defense/Accuracy/To Hit/etc. they can, and working to achieve that build. Sometimes called Hardcore, but not the same as above, nor the same as "Casual vs. Hardcore". (Mezzosoprano, Another_Fan)
Forumite: A player who frequents the Forums, possibly spending more time there than in the game. (The_Player )
Soloer/Soloist: A player who frequently plays solo, possibly even in preference to team play. (Dr_Darkspeed, Inokis)
Teamer: The opposite of a Soloer, if a Teamer can't get onto a decent team fairly quickly, it's just not worth their time. (Kelenar)
Grouper: A player who prefers to play with a specific group of players: SG/VG members, in-game and/or real life acquaintances/friends, etc..
Pugger: A player who frequently plays on Pick-Up Group teams. (waaaaaahhhhh )
Commander: A player who frequently assembles and leads their own teams, as opposed to looking for other teams to join.
TFer/SFer: a player who prefers Task Forces and/or Strike Forces. They often know them "inside and out". (hedgehog)
Fighter/Combatant: the actual combat itself is the Fighter's primary reason for playing the game. (Sailboat, ClawsandEffect)
Steamroller/Speedster: A player who prefers completing content as quickly and efficiently as possible.
SGer: A player who prefers doing things with or related to their Super Group/SuperVillain Group, especially as an officer. (BBhumeBB)
Builder/Base Builder: A player who enjoys designing and building Super Bases. (Angry_Angel)
Explorer: Explorers come in different types (Mirai for the general category):
<ul type="square">World Explorer, Tourist: A player who enjoys exploring the out-of-the way areas, and/or collecting Exploration Badges. Tourists frequently clear the "Fog of War" from the entire zone map. (CrazyCorsaire)
Mechanic, aka Analyzer, Investigator: A player who enjoys exploring how the game and the powers work, and how they interact. (CrazyCorsaire, Another_Fan)
Seeker of the Obscure: A a player who likes to hunt down the really obscure. Like the "meat locker" in the RWZ Base. (No, I'm not going to tell you where it is. That would spoil the fun.) (Angel_Red)
Mentor/Helper: A player who enjoys helping other players enjoy the game, especially newer ones. Mentors like to lend a hand, to show somebody "the ropes", to help them get to a difficult (or interesting) destination, etc., etc., etc. (The people who create game-related support materials such as the Paragon Wiki, the various map sites, the hero/villain designer programs, etc., are all Mentors[.) (Olantern, Wicked_Wendy)
Daredevil: A player who enjoys testing their own limits, frequently attempting things with no guarantee of success. Win or lose doesn't matter as much as the rush of facing impossible odds . . . and sometimes pulling it off anyway. Frequently Scrappers, Daredevils can actually be any Archetype. (McNum)
Challenger: A player who seeks out the biggest, baddest challenges in the game to see how they fare against them. Very similar to a Daredevil.
Sweeper: A player who frequently "Street Sweeps" - defeating the "local" mobs found throughout the game, both on the streets and elsewhere in the various zones . "Street Sweeping" (aka "Sweeping") is often used for full levels' worth of XP at low levels, and sometimes used to get "those last few XP" at higher levels. (many)
<ul type="square">Power Sweeper: A player who is leveling a character all the way to 50 solely through Street Sweeping.
Tester: A player who enjoys playing on the test server(s) to explore what's new in each patch and Open Beta. A Closed Beta Invite is their "Golden Ticket". (Early_Girl)
Socializer: A player who plays the game for the interaction with other players. (Dr_Darkspeed)
Author/Writer: A player who enjoys creating MArch missions/arcs for the story. Authors tend to focus on having the story "just so". (_Acyl_)
Engineer: A player who enjoys creating MArch missions/arcs for the mechanics of it. Engineers to focus on perfecting the mechanical details.
AEer/MAer/MArcher: A player who prefers running Mission Architect content to regular content. (dugfromthearth)
Completist: A player who enjoys doing every mission and taskforce in the level range and getting every contact to maximum reputation. Before it was possible to turn off XP, Completists often deliberately collected large amounts of debt to avoid "out-leveling" un-completed content. (Neuronia, Peacemoon)
Organizer: A player who frequently organizes and runs costume contests, raids, etc. (Angry_Angel)
Costumer: A player who enjoys designing and creating costumes.
Artist: A player who enjoys creating fan art, CoH-related videos, etc.
GP/General Player: A player who doesn't identify as any particular type, but does many different things about equally. (Power)
NOTE: the following types of play are specifically prohibited by the rules of the game. These actions may subject the player to punishment up to and including termination of their account:
Griefer: A player who interferes with other players' enjoyment of the game.
Exploiter: A player who enjoys ferreting out and/or utilizing content that gives excessive rewards (as determined by the Devs).
---------------------------------------------------
The following describe the actual player more than how they like to play:
Altoholic: a player with multiple alts, often on multiple servers. They like the variety and flexibility of being able to play whichever one catches their fancy, or fits the needs of the moment. They may or may not have "favorites", but they love ALL their alts. Strongly driven by concept, they often have to create yet another alt because of the cool idea they just came up with. (The entire "What is an 'Altoholic'? " thread)
Wanderer: plays multiple alts at erratic times and dates, doing whatever catches their interest at the moment. Very similar to an Altoholic, but driven more by the "spur of the moment" than by concepts. A Wanderer may have the attention span of a gnat on caffeine. (Prof_Backfire)
Mainalomaniac: although they may have several characters, a Mainalomaniac prefers to play one Hero and/or one Villain exclusively. (ArcticFahx, The_Player)
Hardcore vs. Casual: the other common usage of "Hardcore": A Hardcore Player is strongly focused on being "the best" at whatever they do in the game, while a Casual Player is more interested in just playing. As Rigel_Kent put it, "Hardcore plays to win. Casual plays to play."
Dual/Triple/Multi-Boxer: by running multiple instances of the game client, on a single or on multiple systems, the multi-boxer can run multiple characters simultaneously. They frequently run complimentary ATs, often supporting themselves in combat and on teams. In exteme cases, they can fill an entire team of 8 with nothing but their own characters. (City_Life, Tonal_Regression)
Leech: a player who gets onto a team, and then deliberately avoids doing any "work", either by constantly going AFK, or by refusing all SK/Lackey offers and hanging back, doing as little as they can. A way to "powerlevel" without actually Farming. (BC_Space, Minotaur)
--------------------------------------------------
The player(s) who first suggested the type or contributed to defining it are noted after each type. If I missed anyone, please accept my apologies! -
[ QUOTE ]
i mostly farm, and create strange builds that fonction as a 1 alt. I RP for myself, creating similar looks on different alts,
and run tfs, mostly citadel, and prolly the next issue ones.
I dont pvp.
I basically try to function with high synchronicity, without using attack chains, but changing attacks situationally.
Using lots of hardware, having hi tech lookin toons and Digitalwarz as a sg name, maybe "technogamer" or something would apply, name wise?
[/ QUOTE ]Sounds like you're a Farmer/Concept Artist? -
[ QUOTE ]
I am the following:
Concept Artist
Combatant (I think Tripp actually got the name for that playstyle from me)
Wanderer
Daredevil
Soloer
Grouper (SMALL groups, I dislike running on large teams unless it is required for the task at hand)
[/ QUOTE ]Completely possible, many contributed in both the first thread, and here. I should add credits where applicable. -
I support this idea. Anything that helps identify Farm Missions is a good thing.

Fixed that for ya.

Bah, can't believe I forgot about that opportunity. I usually go with butterfly. *runs off after the butterfly*
[/ QUOTE ]I am an unashamed altaholic. My attention just flitters between my different chara--- ooh! A fox!

My list of possible fixes is also no more than a temporary patch.
Whatever methods are found to slow them down, they cannot be eliminated completely unless the market for their service is removed. And I have yet to see any desirable method to do that proposed, anywhere. -

I feel bad leaving in the middle of a mission. If it gets really bad though, I'll reach down, and hit the off switch on my cable modem till I map serve and go do laundry or dishes or something.
[/ QUOTE ]If I'm on a crappy team, I'll try to wait until after the current mission, then say something like "Okay, gonna go do other stuff now. Good luck!"
The only time I've truly bailed on a team was after 11 hours of trying to do the ITF.
[/ QUOTE ]
11 hours?!?! I'd be getting screamed at after 4 to go do the dishes or something.
[/ QUOTE ]Spread over three days. That was my first ITF, too. I'd post the tale again here, but none of it was because there was anything inherently bad about the group . . . it just never worked out. -

Nothing makes my stalker miss more than if I pop a yellow. Most annoying thing ever.

Every single time. I swear. Any AT, any powerset, and *particularly* if it's a snipe shot that needs needs needs to hit.
[/ QUOTE ]I've noticed that, too. But only if I don't also pop a red. -

OK, you're right. But, it has crossed my mind that a little payback to those guys would be great.
[/ QUOTE ]Completely agreed. And it's crossed my mind, too. Multiple times.
Use the SPAM button. It flags the account sending the email for investigation, and appears to delete ALL emails from that account from your inbox. At least, I've seen multiple ones disappear with a single click. -
You want to CONFIRM that your global is active? And actually READS emails?
-
I only have about 15 characters, mostly on Champion. I play several of them frequently, a couple of them are concepts I'm trying to get a handle on, and a couple of them are placeholding names. My mood determines who I play at any given time as much as anything else.
Yet I hear altoholics talking about their hundreds of characters, distributed across several servers, so I thought maybe I still wasn't actually one myself.
<sigh>
*stands up*
My name is Tripp_Hazzard.
I am an Altoholic.
And I [u]LIKE[u] it! -
[ QUOTE ]
Gaelic, it's not a bug if it's an AE mish.
It considers AEs as TF, so if you crash you come back into the team or if you log & the team still doing said Mish/Arc in AE, you come back.
On that note, I WISH THE F'ing MORONS out there would Quit the F'ing Teams!!!! Not log out.
WHY? Cuz I can't invite anyone into the damn team then, while doing the AE Arc, if they QUIT instead of logging like retards, then I can invite someone into the team & fill that spot, instead of having 7 people, with 8 person spawn, cuz number 8 was a tool & logged out.
It may or may not be common knowledge about that, but I wish everyone started teaching folks that, its really farking annoying.

[/ QUOTE ]How do you get out of that? Disband and reform the entire team? -

The Urban Dictionary's definition of "Altoholic"
Seems there's a bit of discrepancy in the definition. Maybe it might help to develop a contrasting veiw.
What's the opposite of an "altoholic" and what would you call such a person?
[/ QUOTE ]Someone who focuses exclusively on one or two characters (in the case of two, generally one from each side). The term for them is Mainalomaniac.
[/ QUOTE ]I like that! -

Off the top of my head, why even give trial accounts an option to email? Limit it to paying customers. If you want to email, join SGs, hit level 50, pay the subscription.
[/ QUOTE ]Trial accounts can't email at all, and have not since the restrictions first went in. I confirmed that with a redname. Any information that says they can email at level 10 is inaccurate. -

Supergroup/Coalition and Game-related emails would never be blocked.
[/ QUOTE ] Like I mentioned previously, this is a bad idea. Then We'd have characters just joining sgs, spamming everybody in the group, then quitting and moving on to the next group. It would be better to have the option to disable SG, with the stipulation of always allowing email from just the sg leaders.
[/ QUOTE ]It must not have registered previously, and it's a good point...I'll add that to it:
1.Put in filters that allow us to choose which emails to accept:
[x] ALL
[x] Friends List
[x] Global Friends List
[x] Supergroup/Coalition Members (Unchecking this will not block email from Supergroup/Coalition Officers.)
Game-related emails would never be blocked. (Friends and Global Friends lists refer to the recipient's lists, not the sender's.) -
In your opinion, what makes an Altaholic different from just having several characters?
-
Wow.
I put Self-Destruct on a Macro called "BOOM" to reduce the chance clicking it by mistake (when trying to remember what the button is on that out-of-the-way power tray).
But I should be able to make it a single item popup menu, making it even safer, yes? Even if I click on the macro, I'd have to click again on the menu item to actually start SD? -

2. Put SPAM ignore on its own list, thus restoring the functionality of our ignore list. It doesn't have to be as long as our regular list, just long enough to ensure that when an id gets pushed off, that account is already deleted.
3. For Super Mega Extra Bonus Points, when an account is banned as a spammer, automatically delete ALL emails from that account, Server-wide. -

anything about the dual / triple boxers?
aka: making builds to fit with one another, that is, triple builds? 'or double?) and really play them ingame, with 2 or more comps, screens, etc?
or its been adressed yet?
[/ QUOTE ]Like altaholic, that describes a player's personality more than the type of play they prefer.
What do they DO while multi-boxing? Farm? RP? "Solo"? Pug? Run TFs/SFs?
I'm beginning to think I should create a section for these "Personality types". -

unless you nerf the farms and put a cap on sale prices in relation to item level in ww/bm, you won't deplete inf. People will find a way around what you are trying to do if it was implimented.
I do like your idea, but it will only work long enough to be worked around.
