  1. I picked up a new baseline Mac Mini yesterday (with 2GB RAM upgrade) and spent the evening waiting for CoH to finish installing. Today I was able to play for an hour over lunch so I thought I'd post some impressions.

I have a 22" widescreen monitor, but I prefer to play in windowed mode, so I ran the game in a 1280x1024 window at the recommeded graphic settings.

With no other programs running the system monitor showed about 3/4 RAM used at peak, so 2GB should probably be considered the minimum required to run the game without trouble.

Game play was smooth and responsive. I noticed some initial lag when approaching high population concentrations (the statue in Atlas, the Portal Corp courtyard) but no jerkiness or lag in missions or while street sweeping. CoH runs well on the 9400M.

The fan on the Mini kicked in after playing for about three minutes and stayed on the rest of the time but was barely audible. The case remained cool to the touch throughout.

Sound quality on my crummy speakers was poor, but that can hardly be blamed on the Mini. There were no sound artifacts, dropouts or oddities.

    Two thumbs up.

    That's Neo's line
  3. Yeah Guardian and Pinnacle are the crowd favourites all right.

You might want to breath into a paper bag for a minute or two, just until that panic attack subsides.
  4. (new player to the game)

    SG: The Time Patrol
    Colours: White and Blue
    Symbol: Infinity
    Motto: 'Ad Infinitum'
    Leader: The Navigator (INV/EM Tanker)

Basically just a roleplaying group for RL friends. We all have fairly busy lives, so if we don't play for a while it can be explained as 'attending to duties in another epoch'.
