Goodbye CAK!!!

Loving the big, impractical swings instead of elbow-ry on SS. The ground punch is acceptable too. Wish I could get that animation for Stalagmites.

Except that it takes forever, though, I kind of like the Crippling Axe Kick animation.

Who'd have thunk that the Dark Knight would be so bad at video games!?

Cute

The lesson, as always, is not to cosplay as Sabretooth.

Friday July 24th -26th we will be mainly running internal events HOWEVER we have the main public event on Saturday night at about 8 Eastern (5p).

[/ QUOTE ]

It becomes ever more clear that we need to reschedule the GoSS superteam night. We're missing out on too much fun stuff.

Stop next to your friends, drop them with a swift fire punch, and then roll around on them.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think Sarge is trying to tell us to PvP with fire melee?

If you haven't already, join the two global channels that announce TF's, GM hunts, Badge missions ect., they are Triumph Watch 2.1 & 2.1. I'll let someone else fill you in on why there are two channels (oh the drama of it all!)

[/ QUOTE ]

And by that I assume you mean Triumph Watch 2.0 and 2.1, though by all means, send him directly to the obnoxious channel. Granted, I rather love it there, but it's less than 'friendly' unless you're in to (mostly) good-natured chat hazing.

At any rate, welcome to the server.

The difference is not as large as you thought and yes, I am sufficiently petty to post this in a Happy Birthday thread so you'll see it.
Also, happy birthday!

About to hit 50 with my Fire/SS/Fire. I hit 49 and haven't lvl'd yet. I would like to farm with this guy, and I'm not sure what to take at 49. I'm sure I'll end up respeccing him. which of these powers would be best?

FE; Melt Armor; Assault; Hasten

[/ QUOTE ]

Probably Hasten unless you've got a buttload of cash available for IOs to add global recharge, which is my plan when mine gets there.

Speed_Force, that's a solid build, but I'd put Blazing Aura off until after Stamina, or at least Consume. Running a damage aura early ends up costing an outrageous amount of endurance.

I stopped badging on Sycarius because Caleb would never spawn for me.

Yes.

Really.

[/ QUOTE ]

I remember being on a team a year or two ago and killing all the ghosts we needed, then we got the message that Caleb has appeared.

Uhhhh... right. We flew around that island and up and down looking for the punk and he never showed!

[/ QUOTE ]

Had a similar experience the time I tried to knock him out.

Would be delighted to make a second attempt at some point.
9. [ QUOTE ]
I've decided to roll my first tanker (mostly play blasters/corruptors/dominators/defenders). I didn't know what powersets are the best or anything like that so I went with Shield Ice for thematic reasons. I think I'll be okay with it since Shield is supposedly very offensive for a defensive set and Ice melee is pretty defensive (soft controls).
2 questions...

Anyone have suggestions on power pools to take? Will I need stamina? Should I get hasten? Are the fighting pools worth it?

Anyone have suggestions on powers to avoid for Shield/Ice?

[/ QUOTE ]

Mine ended up with Fitness through Stamina, Leaping for CJ and Super Jump, and Fitness through Tough. I'm another of those who has buffed up their defense with IO sets to avoid weave. The end cost was driving me nuts. Tough, meanwhile, I can't recommend enough. Those higher-end S/L hits will tend to do enough damage to pose a little bit of a problem without it; the Romans are particularly bad since they come with def debuffs.

The earlier you can squeeze weave in the more effective a tanker you'll be when exemplared, if that's a point of interest.

I ended up in Arctic Mastery, looking way down to Ancillary pools. Shield Charge, Ice Storm, and Frozen Aura give me acceptable AoE damage, stacking Ice Block with Freezing Touch is handy, and ice blast is part of my attack chain.

It was a little eerie, though, coming not long after I became acquainted with the story and read the sociology paper the guy playing Twixt published.

Issue 16

So it looks like Issue 16 will not be going rouge. But it looks more like go go customization.

15. I can't be the only one who was expecting MSPaint illustrations and insane raving based on the War Mace / Energy Aura thread over on the brute boards, right?

I'm a little disappointed.
16. [ QUOTE ]

Or maybe I will turn to waffles. Waffles will not meet any of my needs or requests, and sure there is only 1 flavor, but everyone else seems to be eating them and you can stack waffles higher than donuts.

[/ QUOTE ]

Waffles lead inevitably to a fruit-and-syrup treadmill the likes of which donuts consumers can only begin to guess at. You'll find yourself waffling so often it will be nearly a second job.

Hit with Desire!

Oh, and for the record, Arctic Mastery is probably not the only way to do this, I just liked being able to stack the holds without things looking weird.
19. TheEmbroiler

Hit with Desire!

I have a 50 Shield / Ice Melee tanker, and everything you've assumed is more or less accurate. I had frozen fists and frost as my "attacks" for the first 20-odd levels. After a respec, I had frozen fists and kick, plus ice patch.

You'll want to pop some taunt IOs into Against All Odds to get its taunt's duration over 2 seconds, but after that, you're not noticeably worse than other tankers at holding aggro, and the hold helps.

I'm currently IOing my way out of Weave, but it's very easy to cap with that and Combat Jumping, for the record. Trying to reach the cap without weave involves investing in some rather pricey sets (Obliteration and Touch of Death) to get there. I recommend sneaking a Steadfast Protection unique into Deflection or True Grit as soon as possible. It's the best possible IO investment you can make in terms of adding some defense. Also, the Call of the Sandman chance to heal proc can be put into Frozen Aura. I have one sitting around the SG base for when I respec, and it should be some help with incidental hits.

You should be fine for most of the TFs in the game. Speaking from experience, Lord Recluse in Statesman's TF is doable but difficult, and if you find yourself tanking him, have your team deal with the red tower first.

Here's the build I am aiming towards. There is some wiggle-room, obviously, but this is the best I've come up with:

Oh, and be aware, if you use Mids' to plan a build, that Phalanx Fighting will believe you always have 1 person in range. In-game this is not necessarily true, so reduce the totals you're looking at accordingly or toggle it off and add 5% in your head.

Except that you can't trade prestige - afaik...

Now, if you don't mind the tedium of being invited to an SG - accepting their influence
in trade, converting for them at say 300:1 (while it costs you 500:1), and then getting
kicked from SG you may have something... assuming prestige doesn't get lost post kick.

Seems like a LOT of effort for a (relative) drop in the bucket - given that a couple hundred
billion inf (conservativley) enters the game monthly...

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, that was assumed in my idea. I guarantee you could do business like this on Freedom, at the least, and probably elsewhere. As for the impact on the market, it might be low, but if Fulmens wants to do it, this is the best way I can think of.
21. [ QUOTE ]
I was working Reactive Armour:resistance this last week

Recipe 1 million, enhancement 10 million. Margin has been squeezed right now

[/ QUOTE ]

Apparently I got on that train late. Thankfully I was aiming for a lower margin so they'll move eventually, and if not, well, I have brutes to slot.
22. [ QUOTE ]

I can't think of any reasonable way to get rid of other people's influence (ie. your leverage factor of 1), but the quickest thing I can think of that removes inf from the game, while
still being (marginally) useful, would be converting it to prestige.

That's a 1-way transfer at a 500:1 rate, but you still end up with a commodity that
can be personally useful - build yourself a seriously kick-a$$ base....

[/ QUOTE ]

Better yet, establish a fee system whereby you convert influence to prestige in exchange for a fee paid by a supergroup's members. Now you are not only removing influence from circulation and providing a public service, but beginning to take a slice of other people's bankrolls as well.

Essentially you'd be converting inf to prestige at a better rate than City Hall. I'm willing to bet you could do a ridiculous amount of business this way, actually.
23. Yeah, the other half of my opinion on the matter, which I posted in one of the various threads about it as well, is that this is a very quick turnaround for an issue, so far as I can tell, and I'd take small and frequent over large and problematic any day.
24. [ QUOTE ]
Trust me, when you play alone, or with a guild that takes the game as srsbsns...its not fun. But if you play with people who you not only like, but can laugh at the stupid <censored> you do, it becomes a different game.

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. I played it off and on from launch, including about 8 months of srsbusiness raiding during and around the launch of Ahn'Qiraj, until I took up CoH last August. Sooner or later, in my experience, it's not fun even with your friends. I have a number of RL buddies still playing it; they try to seduce me back with tales of Heroic Throw and Explosive Shot and all that. I'm not buying it.
25. Just a reminder - this is "closed" beta. Chances are the final-form TFs will be cleaned up and much better presented (at the least). What with Triumph being pretty close to a forum cartel server, you guys' opinions probably carry a (little) bit of weight with the devs. I completely understand wanting to pass on content as unpolished (and small) as this issue looks like it's going to be, but if y'all do it will likely impair QoL for newer folks like me if we stick with the game.

Also, for the record, I am downright amazed that Imeco has the patience for WoW, since I agree completely with fallenz that it's an awful lot of work for the fun you get out of it after max level.
