Word on the street is that we're also getting alternative sprinkle sets. No more will you be limited merely to 'chocolate' jimmies which look vaguely like mouse poop; the new 'rainbow' and 'cinnamon' toppings will open up a whole new world of sprinkle application for Donut-topping individuals of a particular stripe.

Powdered sugar will remain funny-looking and blocky, however.

In These Tough Economic Times, an extra donut is the only Consumer Relationship Management plan the Sentai Sage team can afford to add, it seems. While the ongoing Donut-Eater Rewards plan has been popular, if sometimes providing questionably useful benefits - the infamous wax paper customization upgrade comes to mind - it's disappointing to see the company so hampered in its industry-leading commitment to providing extra sugar to its fanbase.
World of Waffles is planning to offer a fruit topping reward plan as part of their next expansion, which frankly outdoes anything the Donut team appears to be capable of. As much as they tout their improved funding and development due to the Entenmann's buyout, this is the best they can come up with? Black Coffee Bearclaw should be ashamed of himself.

Half again the damage for half again the endurance,. I can, of course, go FT --> GIS - and often do - and since FT is still ticking during the admittedly-long activation of GIS it is not any LESS effective with that as a followup.

Don't get me wrong: I know Ice Sword is the better attack if your scheme is for constant output. My priorities are burst delivery and minimum number of buttons pushed. I came over from playing a Fury Warrior in WoW. Despite what it looks like in videos, it is at baseline actually less click-intensive than just about any set in CoH on account of autoattack and the major attacks involved being (at the time) on a 6-second and 10-second cooldown respectively. While the vicissitudes of maintaining Sunder Armor and dumping rage into Heroic Strike or Cleave changed that up some, I still found it easier to get into a rhythm.

You aren't wrong, it's just that GIS is not as bad as you think. I'd be as pleased to see it buffed as anyone in this thread, and I would enormously prefer not to have waited 35 levels for something so unimpressive, but it's not without its uses.

I suspect, now that I give it some thought, that it's because my usual way of approaching a spawn is Shield Charge, Frozen Aura, Ice Patch (optional depending on how much is still standing), Ice Storm (same!). I'm already in the cleanup phase by the time either of the ice swords would come into play. Rather than use Ice Sword repeatedly I prefer to hit Greater Ice Sword once and move on to the next group. Pairing the set with Shields has probably colored my Ice Melee experience to an even greater degree than I suppose it to have.

Your chain is most likely superior over time, but I don't have a lot of "over time" to worry about thanks to shield charge.

Sonic is much more comfortable at range, where radiation, if you pick up Irradiate (which is way better than Electron Haze, Irradiate debuffs defense for like 37.5% I believe, where Haze is much less potent, where was I?) Right, Irradiate will make you melee centric.

Sonic is a great set to pair with a tank. It tops the tank off for common damages, and gives them a great -res aura around themselves to make them feel oh so much stonger!

Personally, I'd think about a more ranged secondary, maybe dark... for more -tohit to help the tank out even more.

That's just me I've got a sonic guide floating around on the forums, can take a look for it if you like.
That's the thing - half the reason I want to avoid Irradiate is that I've got no interest in being stuck melee-diving again for AoE after playing an earth/fire Dom as my most recent main project. My actual reason for wanting to go Rad is that it looks cool, and Liquefy + Atomic Blast should be very entertaining.

  13. So with i16 on the way and a buddy being likely to roll an Elec Armor tanker, I've decided to put together a defender to play with him. I'll be going sonic emission/rad blast/power and, while I have a pretty good idea how I want to put the character together, I've got a couple questions:

Is Irradiate strictly better than Electron Haze even if I don't mind aiming a cone? At least one existent rad blast guides seem to suggest that it is, which seems odd as Electron Haze would appear to have marginally higher base damage.

If I load up Neutrino Bolt with the def debuff damage procs, am I going to like the results?

Cosmic Burst's stun would appear to be guaranteed. Is there any reason to slot it for duration apart from having ambitions to stun more than one thing at once?

Is slotting for status resistance going to be worth my time, given Sonic Dispersion's already-broad protection options? I'll probably splurge a little and get a Steadfast knockback IO for one of the shields regardless, but is there anything else I'll really need to watch out for in PvE content?

Are there any other must-haves or tricks you can think of that I ought to know about?

    All advice is appreciated.

  15. While Greater Ice Sword is, indeed, a pretty worthless attack by the DPA-focused criteria you've set up, I get a great deal of use out of it on my Shields/Ice tanker owing to its acceptable DPE and naturally high accuracy. My attack chain looks kind of out of place on a tanker to begin with and would look better on a brute, consisting as it does mostly of Frozen Fists, Kick (which I've got for set purposes), and Ice Blast. Now and then there's a recharge hole I can fill with GIS, particularly after Freezing Touch, and that's all I really need it to do. I wasn't looking to one-shot things, just to see big numbers on occasion, and not having to pay much for them and rarely missing even out of the box seems to me to be a fairly good deal, all things considered.

Add the lack of ice resists mentioned above and it does a hearty chunk of damage, if nothing overwhelming, on every use.

One thing I am definitely taking away from this thread, however, is that I really need to work out a respec that preserves my defense numbers and includes Frost. I should have made more of an effort to receive Cath's wisdom by this time, I guess.

That raises the odds of all members on the team being able to take part in things like arc completion XP and merit rewards.

Of course, theory and practice aren't always as similar as we'd like them to be, so I'll reserve final judgment until I've actually seen it working first-hand.
Whatever else, this will make things much simpler for those of us who run in superteams but enjoy playing the characters in their own right. We have something like an 8-level spread going in Hollow Brigade right now over on Redside. That's not so bad, but it's a big reason why my character is an Earth dom and runs Tactics. It's nice when we can all hit things.
Unfotunately, it'll get here too late for that toon - in all likelihood he'll hit 50 or be nearly there by the time i16 arrives - but I'm looking forward to this in the future.

One area I can think of where I'm not so pleased about the idea is that I have a habit of putting off things like Taunt, travel powers, alternate-element armors, and so forth until whatever level is convenient rather than getting them out of the way early, as I've seen others do. It's always neat to team with a level 20-some Blaster who's taken all of 6 powers combined between his primary and secondary, for example. :/ In particular I can see this change exerting more pressure on tankers to take Taunt ASAP, which is not an end-of-the-world bad thing but is hardly a 100% positive situation.

I would like some help with doing a Lord Recluse SF. My first attempt was a PUG, but I didn't get enough debuffs recruited and we fell flat at the end. My brute hung in there, so I think my build isn't too bad, but I had some therm/kin support to help. Instead of grabbing whoever is available at the spur of the moment I thought I would advertise in advance. Sooo, looking for 3 solid debuff ATs, a buffer such as therm is ALWAYS welcome. Another brute wouldn't hurt, but basically putting feelers out to see if anyone wants to give it a go. I would like to try and get a nice circuit of players for this and maybe Barracuda shots and semi-regular basis. I know Ultratroll does em from time to time so maybe some love there?

Anyways, this Saturday, Aug 15, at 8pm EST.

Oh, that was you I was in AE with the other day on Catatumbo? That explains the fact that you learned better than to take your own alphas quickly.

I can't do Saturday, unfortunately, as I still haven't run one despite having been 50 for half a year plus on that toon. Good luck getting the SF done; I hear it's a good one.

Jeez, that's a lot of goodness squeezed into one set. I'd guess Stone Spikes is that stomp--> single target stalagmites thing you see CoT using on occasion.

Word on the street (or rather, the Tanker boards) is that Elec Armor is having Conserve Power replaced with what sounds like a fairly decent heal / regen / end conservation effect. See this post:
