  1. Figured I'd add my 2 cents about the 2 hour recharge on the Mission Teleporter...

With all the other options of getting from one mission to another:
<ul type="square">[*]Veteran SG Base Teleporter (30 minute recharge) / Base Beacon Teleporters (time it takes to run/fly/etc to a Base Portal) - access to any zone[*]Ouroboros Portal (5 minute recharge) - access to 5 zones[*]Pocket D Teleport Card (30 minutes) - access to 3 zones + sg base[*]Main Villain Ferry or Hero Green/Yellow Tram (time to run/fly/etc) - access to 5-7 zones[/list]I forget how I was going to end that sentance...

    Hopefully you get my point...

    2 Hours!?!?!?!?!?!
  2. Everyone seems to have reached a unanimous opinion about Malta Sappers – they suck, in more ways than one. It just so happens I was doing one of Borea’s hunting missions in RWZ when I came upon a mob with a Sapper or two in them. One of them said something both interesting and disturbing (let’s call it a confession):

    Sapper
  3. Yes!!! Thank you!!! Applied this hotfix and now I'm all the way back up to the latest nVidia driver - 180.48 for my 8800GT in Vista Prem 64 - with unbelievable performance and no crashes!!
  4. Ok everyone, come back with me.... all the way back to issue 8. There's no such things as IOs. The best enhacements in the game are SOs and the occasional HO (Hami) and omg, anyone remember CTOs?.

To summarize any 'nerfing' of the IO system with merits - I wouldn't even care if they did away with the whole Invention System - say Dr. Brainstorm's equipment was stolen by Rularuu the Ravager and we all have to do the Cathedral of Pain trial to get it back.

Essentially they are making something harder that didn't even exist until a few short issues ago. Most of my characters never touch IOs and stick with good ol' predictable cheap SOs so what the merit system means to me? Nothing absolutely nothing.

Does anyone remember why you would do a Katie Hannon TF before issue 9? Umm....: Badge for an accolade, fast xp from lvls 30-34, achievement badges for cabal and red caps for an accolade, and most of all [u]for fun.[u]

As for PvP, now maybe you have to TRY to win. Stalkers, TP foe, pocket emps and sonics, Energy Melee/anything, and previous 'i win' powers and powersets now have to use strategy and perhaps put forth some kind of effort to defeat people in PvP instead of mashing a total of 3 buttons.

For all you dramatic whiners out there canceling accounts, all you're saying is "now that the game isn't as unintentionally easy for me to win anymore, i'm going to quit" and "now that the game is how it was supposed to be, i'm going to quit". To those people I say, good bye and good luck - less lag for me. Maybe if you squint at whatever game you're changing to it might give you the illusion that that game has as much detail as this game you left without reason.
  5. Hmm, it would seem that increasing the window scale DOES increase the text size. Running at 1680 x 1050 (max resolution for this monitor) with the scale at 120% is pretty good with only minor rendering delay.
  6. Thanks for the tips. I'll give it a try.
  7. Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm actually using a ViewSonic VA2012wb 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor with a 256MB nVidia GeForce 7300GT graphics card and 2GB of RAM in Vista Basic with a 3GHz P4.

I think that I'm perfectly capable of running at higher resolutions, but the problem I've run into is the UI shrinking and text being almost unreadable.
  8. Although I'm not a person who pays much attention to the story of CoH/CoV, I do enjoy the unique, artified, and comical aspects to the game. After getting a hunting mission in Nerva (not many Crey in Nerva, btw), I happened to find a pair of them next to a unidentified neutral targetable mass of something with a name that either suggests laziness on behalf of the developer in charge of names or just another fun discovery. Anyway, I thought I'd share it with you all.

    'DoesntMatter'
  9. You can obviously read that it's Mako's casino.

Perhaps a better question would be, Where did Mako get the name? Same place they got the description for Inanimate Carbon Rod (Invention Salvage)?

btw, I rarely ever read the clues or the backstories (for example, I have no idea who Mako is, with regards to the story of CoV)
  10. CoV - Rob the Chum Bucket

Hmm... if the Chum Bucket is seeing "Brisk Business", Plankton must have stolen the Krabby Patty formula from under Mr. Krabs' matress!?!?! Oh NoEs!!111

In all seriousness, the words "Chum" and "Bucket" coming together out of the newspaper mission word bank can't be a coincidence. If so, I think it's pretty funny.
