  1. I was trying to make the shading go with the glow from the sword. Thanks for the kind words.
Bruthaman - Thanks again, I've been doing Muay Thai for a long time. I do have some pictures of me training in Thailand.
  2. Got your comment, I commented back. Thanks again!
  3. (Sidenote) I have to stop my subscription for a couple of months. I just opened a new Muay Thai gym and I have college etc. I don't think I can use the boards after my subscription runs out. I hope to be back ASAP though. Friend me on deviant http://joshnordin.deviantart.com/ and keep in touch. I'm also accepting comissions as well.
But now since I have limited time, can I get a critique on:

It just doesn't feel right to me for some reason?

Lol! Each costume gets the mask as well.

Thank you! Yes, I am definitely looking for a simpler outfit. I also wanted it to fit his style. Kind of like a Conan/ samurai/Clint Eastwood/Achilles. Magically enhanced but still tough as nails. I want to keep his armor to a minimum but still look like a warrior (not a tank :P).

And yes the runes are going to be there...not sure if they will be blue or red though...

Thanks for all of the comments!
Oddly, at first I was leaning towards the middle one. Now I have to rethink everything

Thanks a lot! Like I said though, the glowing ruins will be with every costume, I just didn't draw them on the others...but I'm in the process of doing that!

I'm going to try out a comic featuring one of my oldest heroes. I'm not sure which outfit I should have him wear. Please help!

Keep in mind that the tattoos will be with any version I pick, as well as the mask.
Critique of my artwork or any other suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!!

    Thanks!
  9. Thank you Juggertha, I'm going to try that out ASAP! Your coloring is awesome.

Trizz, you are absolutely right on both counts. I don't know why (all of the sudden) I've been having proportion problems when it comes to arm and leg length. I hadn't before. I honestly think I'm rushing the art. It takes me about 20 minutes on each piece.

Maybe Juggertha or any of the other accomplished artists have any pointers on that?
  10. Thanks for the info Thornster, I tried it and it seemed a lot better. I really need info on the most basic of photoshop coloring!

    And thanks Traegus!
  11. Wow thanks a lot! I do like my style, I mean, I have kind of changed it over the last year or so.

I drew them on Bristol (9 x 12, I don't have an 11 x 17 scanner...yet) inked them, scanned them and colored with Photoshop Elements 2.0. But it probably isn't the program, it's most likely me. This is the first time I've used the computer to color my work, so I'm probably not doing something right!
  12. Thank you all for your comments! They help me better my art. I'm going to update it as much as possible, getting ready to put 2 on tonight!

    Keep the crtique coming!!
  13. I definitely was going for the "Marvel Universe book pose" for these two. Basically showcasing the character you know? And I totally understan what you are saying. I think the problem comes for me trying to do a more "cartoony" style than the more detailed Jim Lee style (he's my favorite artist!).

Thank you so much for the comments!
  14. Thanks a lot!
I have changed my style a bit. I enjoy creating a simpler, "cleaner" style than what I used to do. Yes, I can do other poses and body types (which I will add soon!).

Thanks for the input and keep it coming!
  15. Either/or is fine. Thanks a lot, can't wait to hear what you have to say!
  16. I can take it!
The line art AND the coloring. It is my first time coloring on the computer. I hope I did ok. Please let me know what you think and/or any tips you can give me!

    Scanner help

I'm really looking for something under $200 and is 11 x 17 (no printer oar anything else needed), and of course does a pretty good job. When I do a search I'm only finding scanners that are $500 and up!

    Scanner help

After listening to a few of you on here I've decided to get my own 11 x 17 scanner. I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find "cheaper" ones. And what the difference between different DPI are and can I control the DPI?

Weird questions I know, but I have no idea when it comes to anything you plug into the wall!

    Thanks!
  19. I always ink my stuff. I just don't make clean lines without ink, and I love inking.
I don't have a tablet, yet, and won't be able to get one until I get my new computer (6 months or so). So pretty much now I'm working with a mouse. I usually work on 14x17 Bristol board (smooth). I take my stuff to Kinkos and have it scanned to a disk, because my scanner is too small. Yeah, it's really inconvinient but, it's the best I can do. Maybe I'll start working on 11x17.

That's pretty much how I've always done things. I don't know if I'm using the right paper etc. I've just ordered some non-reproduction blue pencils to use.

Anyhow, I wanted to learn to color on the computer because I've seen mediocre at best art get turned amazing with good coloring. I've also had one of my drawings a couple of years back colored by another person using Photoshop and it blew me away.
  20. Thanks a lot for the tutorials...I see I'll need a lot of practice!! How would you handle a comic book page?
  21. I'm stuck in the dark ages when t comes to my art. I've been drawing for a long time and I've been coloring my art on my own with professsional art markers.

I've come to a point to where I would like to start using my computer to color my drawings now. I have Adobe Photoshop Elements that seems to be working alright (what do I know?) but I really have no idea what I'm doing.

I guess my questions are, I'm trying to figure out how to shade/hi light and make objects glow. Can anyone give me a dumbed down version of how to do this. And/or give me some web sites that will help explain and give me more help and tips?
