Last year they did so some kind of freebie here/somehow connected to here, though I can't off the top of my head remember what.

An art contest or entry to a raffle, that'd be great. I do know that people were ebaying those codes, I can't recall - didn't one of them get up to like 400$? I don't think anyone here spoke up for having bought it, though.

It was the Freakshow Boss costume last year. I still have mine if anyone happens to still have the hardshell and wants to switch....

Currently: If you can't go to the con, you can spend, to use your figure, $100 on eBay for a code card, or you do without. NCSoft gets no money from the code cards in any case.

My suggestion: If you can't go to the con, you can at least try to arrange for someone to get one for you at the convention for $5. If you can't get someone to pick one up at the convention, you have to do without or buy one on eBay for, to use your figure again, $75. All the cards that go on eBay put $5 in NCSoft's pocket.

How on Earth is my suggestion WORSE than the way it works currently?

Sure, it's not as ideal as your suggestion, but it is absolutely NOT worse than that current situation in terms of getting cards into the hands of players who can't attend the convention, for a reasonable price.

As for exclusivity, if something is only distributed by the original vendor at one venue, and nowhere else, it certainly is an exclusive, regardless of whether it ends up on the secondary market or not. If a vendor initially distributes something at a single venue, but then later makes the exact same item available to anyone anywhere without changing anything about it, it is NOT an exclusive to the original venue.

    a) It is much worse as it generates even MORE negative feelings than the current system:

Currently : I didn't get a code because I couldn't go to the event. That sucks cause I couldn't afford to go. Everyone who got to go are so lucky!

Under your suggestion : I didn't get a code because I couldn't go to the event, and the only friend I know who did go already gave out all the ones he got to other people. He's such a jerk! And NCSoft sold them to people who didn't even want them, and now the cheapest one on eBay is going for $50.00 and the bidding doesn't end until tomorrow night. So not only did they get to go to the Con, but they are making a profit off it.

    b) This item is only exclusive for Con attendees if you actually had to attend the Con to get it. Yes, someone could attend the Con and then you turn around and sell the code, but that person then loses the ability to use the code themselves. On the other hand, if NCSoft distributes (either sells or gives away) more codes than a person can use, then those other codes are, by definition, not exclusively for Con attendees.
  3. They wouldn't be exclusive to the Con - it would just mean that those who went to the Con could make a profit off of those who were not able to make it. This would simply make an imperfect system WORSE, not better, and resentment would skyrocket.

The company would make SIGNIFICANTLY more offering them through the store where anyone who wants one could get one, not simply those a) who happen to have a friend who is going (and likes them more than the money they can make offering the codes for sale) or b) has enough money to buy them on the after market.
  4. So instead of $100 each they would cap at maybe $75.00... that's still more than I would want to pay and that money STILL wouldn't be going to the development of the game.

Just a thought, and one that will likely be shot down for a number of reasons, but what about this:

Each player who attends SDCC (or PAX, or HeroCon) gets a free costume code card. Additionally, they have the option of purchasing up to five(?) more code cards at a price of $5 each.

That way, NCSoft gets to reward players who attend SDCC (or PAX, or HeroCon) with a freebie, and those who can't attend could make arrangements with in-game friends, or SG/VGmates to get a code for themselves, and as a bonus NCSoft puts a little extra cash in their development or convention budget.

I like the idea, except for the fact that most of those "extra" cards would end up on eBay, not with friends. I personally would love to get the the PPD Hardshell costume that was given away at a Con I didn't attend a couple of years ago, but the only source has been eBay going for about $100.00... no thanks.

Personally, I would like to see these costumes that are given out as Cons be exclusively through the codes for a period of time - say 3 to 6 months. I would then like to see them go into the store for sale - say $5.00 a costume. That way attendees get a cool thing (for free) that is exclusively theirs for a short while, and then anyone who wants it can get it later for a cost much less than on eBay (and the money would be going to game development).
  6. That is where I found him the first time I added him, but now when I look for him, he is missing .
  7. Tryrant does have a minion list, according to my mission. But I cannot find him on the list any more. Have you checked your list recently to see if he is still available?
  8. I have a two part arc that I am working on, and the second portion of the arc story use AntiMatter and Tyrant as key components. So the first thing I did live was dive in, earn tickets, and unlock ALL the unlockable content.

I worked on and completed the first arc, and it is working great. When I started work on arc 2, I created a mission with Tyrant and his minions in it.

I then added a second mission, and in this mission tried to create a Custom Group that contained AntiMatter and NightStar's minions. Added NightStar's minions without issue, but then looked for AntiMatter and found he is not in the list of standard groups. I sent a bug report to CS and started work on the third mission.

This mission was to have Tyrant's minions in it as well. I went to add Tyrant's minions, but they were no longer on the list. I tried to add Tyrant as a boss, and still not present. This was done only 1-2 hours after I added Tyrant in the first mission.

I ran the first mission I created in the second arc (with Tyrant in it), and he and his minions are spawning just fine. The mission file shows a Tyrant Group and Tyrant as a Boss.

I added this quirk to my CS ticket and received a reply that neither AntiMatter nor Tyrant are supposed to be available in MA. All the other Praetorians are (and I have checked, they are in my available groups). CS seemed unable to answer why my mission has Tyrant in it.

    1) Has anyone else encountered this? Especially if you have missions with either Tyrant and/or Antimatter (and/or their minions) in them. Do the missions still work? Can you still see Tyrant and/or AntiMatter in your Standard groups list?

    2) Why did Tyrant disappear off the MA Standard groups list. The fact that he is still a viable option in my mission seems to indicate he and his minions are intended to be available and for some reason they disappeared from the list.

    3) Are AntiMatter and Tyrant really supposed to be off limits to MA writers as indicated by CS? If so, why? Neither are particularly stronger than other Praetorians (and Tyrant is actually fairly under-powered compared to some). It seems to make no sense to have 13 of the 15 Praetorians available as unlockable content and restrict the other 2.

I hope this is something that has simply been overlooked and can be corrected easily, as my story is dead in the water until this is solved.
  9. I had the same issue and found a way around it. my arc grew from 98.64 to 99.96. I went into the local arc and changed one of my custom critters to one that was already used elsewhere, making certain they had different names. That dropped the file size to 94% or so and I was able to publish. I then edited the published story, changing the critter back to the original, and then republished - which it allowed me to do. I have not played it yet to see if there are any problems, but this seems to have worked.

I will test tomorrow and update the post.
  10. Long Established Villain Group on Triumph:
    The Dogs of War

Founded by the s-u-u-u-p-e-r genius know as Puppy, this group has been around since about 3-4 weeks after CoV went live. We are a small group, but have a great base, and are truly interested in growing. If you are a genetic freak, the wrong end of a scientific experiment, a mad scientist, or the lover of cute furry animals with homicidal tendencies, then send me or my Kennel Master a bark:

    Leader: @Tempest Master or @ESGPuppy
    Lt: @Leatherpup
  11. I have the problem of very few options as to oponents. I have two missions, one DE and one Longbow. Knowing the DE have LOTS of status effects, I tried the Longbow. Lvl 49 MM with HPT (so +10% hp). Every Longbow I tried would get into melee range and hit me with the Rifle butt and do 450+ damage. The recharge was about 6 seconda, so I couldn't heal last enough. The Flamethrower was promising, but the DoT was just a little too high (about 5% more than I could heal between attack routines). Finally, I found the right opponent - an even con Spec Op. He does approximately 3/4 of my hp every 12 seconds (in bursts), so I am not nearly capped, but I made 1,760,000 in 9.5 hours, so it's not too shabby, and I don't have to worry too much about a string of lucky hits taking me out. According to the guide, the Spec Ops attacks have a KB component, but I have Acrobatics, so no worries there.

Also, the Longbow Spec Op has another bonus - As part of their attack routine, they take time to go Invisible. If you time it right, this makes getting INTO Rest Mode very easy.
  12. Upgraded Teleporter
    Suggested by: Tempest Master
    Category: Movement
    Custom: No
    Type: Unlocked/Crafted
Description: A two stage enhancement to the basic teleport pad. Both require the base to have a working TP pad. The first is build on an advanced table/forge, and allow the building of pads that can access 4 locations. The second requires the advanced table/forge, and allows pads to be built that can each access 6 locations
  13. Okay, not sure is this is considered to be a bug or not, but one of my character hairstyles is missing. I beelive that it was called Buzzcut. My character Tempest Master has it on his costume #4. I used to be able to change the costume without losing the hairstyle, but that does not appear to be the case any longer. I have several characters that I would like to use this hairstyle on.

I have a screenshot, but I am unsure how to attach it
