((Ok, Long intro. This is a RP thread that started off from the Whitmoore, and is going to get its own thread here for ease of my mind. It's going to be somewhat of a project. That and while this RP might only take a day IC-time, it can take a lot of OOC time. It'd disrupt things...))
Whitmoore Lobby
Joseph, aka Techsupport, had faxed the letter he had gotten to the FSBA, where they could put a more adequate little taskforce onto the matter. He still couldn't believe it.
Of course, in due time he had held a personal crusade against the Clockwork, after all, they were the ones who ruined his old homes, but the ploys the Clockwork King attempted to ambush him...
This time he had sent a letter to invite him to a ceremony in his honor, where even Statesman would be, to award a prize in his vigilance to bring the rogue members of his court to justice.
Of course, there was always the chance the actual Clockwork King /would/ be there, and this is why he let the proper authorities organise a small team of heroes.
This was all for a later time, since he was going to go back to his room and tinker a little more on his armour, he had it almost perfected.
When he got back, though, an entirely different matter came to hand. His message-light was blinking, special messages...
"Umm Mister Wills? Techsupport? This is Barbara Gord at Hero Corps. There is a small matter we might like to enlist your assistance with..." the voice trailed on the message as if unclear how to continue. "I believe you are familiar with a heroine called 'Cyclonite Cat'?"
************************************************** **
Meanwhile, at Galaxy City, a post was put up for a small group of heroes to assemble a special task force. They are to investigate the possibility of possible clockwork activity in an office building in Perez Park. A warning is added, a good chance of running into the actual Clockwork King is present. -
What went on before...
"Oh? Cat was here? And I missed her?" said Joe to the curator for the Whitmoore, turning his wallet over in his hands... "Someone should get a better way of keeping these things for when you're wearing something like spandex or a powerarmour." he stated eventually, slipping the item into the backpocket of his jeans.
"Anyway, thanks for keeping this, and the mail." Joseph noted and then ambled off towards a couch in the lobby, settling down on it to make a first quick separation of the mail.
"Letter... card... spam spam spam spam... interesting spam.."

"It's true" said the man standing in the alleyway with the feline hero "I've never seen the Raiders this active in a long time. They recently cleaned out one of their holes, in an old warehouse. It might be useful if you checked it out. Might be a loose memo or something they forgot."
Lenny might not be one of the most productive contacts Cat had to find out about what was going on, but as he was "Just another homeles bum", who even played a good act of being a bit mentally muddled, even the Freakshow let him pass by unhindered. After all, it was just "Good ol' Lenny, what harm could he do...
But after the occasional meal, and a couple of drinks, he always had a little something that helped, like now... Katherine gave him a couple of tens, enough for a day or so, and who knew what other heroes had Lenny on their list. She had tried, at one point, to get him to register at a flophouse, but the man had declined each time.

Somewhere, a memo passed hands.
"Forgot some equipment at Warehouse #5. Take some men and check the place once more."

Whitmoore Lobby
Now, in the Lobby, where there were three new tennants gathering, also still was Joseph. Bedecked in one of his usual, loud and garish, hawaiian type shirts. He tossed the last envelope of unwanted adressed advertising into the waste-paper basket with a flick of his wrist; a practiced move by someone with way too many time on their hands in the past.
Finally, he went to opening the two leftover letters, with a postcard that had a windmill on it set aside.
He suddenly started laughing...
Warehouse #5
"Hero on deck!" "How did she manage to find us here?" "Forget that, how did she know we would be here at all?" Confused shouts of Sky Raiders rang through the mostly deserted warehouse, rapport of gunfire echoeing inbetween.
Usually, Katherine was one to temper her fire-wielding abilities to make sure villains dropped more from shock than from injury. But as bullets bounced off of the armoured jacked she wore, just in cases like this, she decided that one or two people in the burn-ward wasn't such a bad thing...

Whitmoore Lobby
Tech looked up and ahhed, folding the letter a bit. One could see that it was hand-written in a very eloquent style and most importantly was the seal at the bottom with a cog-and-crown motif.
"Oh.. err... I'm sorry. Did I interrupt something?" was his first reply, before he blinked "Ahh... Joe- Joseph, Joseph Wills, nice to meet you." He had been so engrossed in his letter that he completely missed things happening, and now was confronted with new people, out in public and no 'protection'... He should really learn to relax around new faces sometime.

He glanced over at Joe/Tech. Nice shirt kid I wish Icon had that pattern for hero costumes. He chuckled.

Joseph smirked a little, mhing "Really? Most people think they're too loud." He answers, indicating with 'they' that apparently he has way too many of them in his wardrobe as well. The man got up, stretching his legs a moment to put away all the 'bad' mail he threw into the nearby paper-bin. That is to say, the paperbin was full enough now to warrant emptying. The other two letters and the postcard were left on the coffeetable for now.
"Anyway, umm... So you're new tennants?" he asked when he got on his way back. "I'm Techsupport... Live up on the fifth."
Wolffe, what with his more-than-natural senses can tell that he's trying, but he seems to be greatly uncomfortable with this many people, specially those he doesn't know.
Warehouse #5
Cat approached the downed Porter, and with a clean cut of a sword made of pure flame, sliced the device right off of his back before the poor man could activate it "No running for you my little prey..." she said in a sweet voice. It was a little stereotype, she knew, but somehow villains cooperated better if she played into the more feral side of her appearance. The man shuddered, his eyebrows since long singed off.
"You're going to tell me what was going on here, and if I like what I hear... Well, I won't let you walk, but you get to go to the Zig and skip the burn ward." she purred at the man.
The Raider took one look at the scorch-marked walls and swallowed slowly... and began to spill.
Somewhere
"I trust our new... ahah... 'recruit' has received his letter?"
-"Yes mylord."
"And the feline woman has succeeded in her scheduled task?"
-"Yes mylord."
"Good. Instigate the Hellions to start a fire in this building here." The same sort of brass-filligree embossed hand pointed towards a holographic map of Steel Canyon. When the heroes are putting it out, activate the automatons inside."
-"Yes mylord." The other person made a salute, turned around on his heel and walked off.

Whitmoore Lobby
After people were going their way again, Joseph had gone to the telephones and started calling a few people. Those who were near could hear some snippets about the letter he had just gotten...
"Yeah, the king himself.... no... I don't trust it either but what /CAN/ he do to harm me nowadays... That sounds like a good idea, sure... Yeah, I'll fax it over."
With that, Joe ended the call and went over to Mr Green, waiting his time for the caretaker to be freed up again and asking the man if he could use the fax-machine.
Warehouse #5
Cat leaned back against a few crates as she watched the last Raider vanish towards the Zig. She would get a few questions lateron about the amount of violence that she used, but then again... It sucked being the Good Guy, Gal in her case, sometimes: People were after your life, but killing them was a no-go.
She re-read a bit of paper, part of a file that was recovered by the Raiders; it had apparently slipped behind a cabinet. She could see why they wanted to have this packed away from hero-hands, as it were orders to break into a small Crey Company white-wares outlet and have the engneers hack into the network there. Whatever they wanted was irrelevant at the moment, while Crey was bad enough as it is, she didn't want to have Sky Raiders running around with their stuff.
She left the warehouse, using her communicator briefly to let someone with GIFT know where she was headed; always a good idea to do so when you're out alone, and then flew off, a streak of hot air left behind where she passed.
Somewhere
"Pawn to b5..."
**********************
Crey Chop Shop
"Well, that was interesting, if not a little annoying..." said the Crey Protector, whose armour was still plinking with the intense heat it withstood.
The geneticist next to him nodded and mmmed "Very, I believe that technique is normally used by Tanks, she must be gifted if her body can withstand that much heat to employ it herself... I want her taken to the surgery, let's test her dna for viability in the Revenant projects. She has much potential, the Countess will be pleased."
Inside the clasp of the heroine's cape, though, a little beacon started going 'boop' inaudibly except for the medicom sattelites, and the FSBA terminals at GIFT... -
Little epilogue for Tech...
It was over, finally. The years of hell had come to an end right there in that chamber. Of course, they would have to make sure the machine was destroyed properly, but that job was for another. He looked around a bit and hmmed "It's going to take a lot of time for this place to rebuild itself... but people managed in the past." he stated, softly. A hand came down on his shoulder and Mister H stepped to his side.
"Sure going to... But there'll be people, and heroes, and maybe you?"
Tech chuckled and mmhed "No, it's time for another generation to take over from here."
"Pity," said H, "We could really use someone like you to guide the newcomers."
"Oh..." the man added after a moment "We found this jammed into the access panel of the doorway by that weird machine. Thought you might want it back or something?"
Joseph looked confused as he took the item and blinked "But I didn't..." Too late though, H had already walked off to Steele and Michael. He turned the thing over, polishing off the grime with a thumb. On one end there was the insignia of the council, on the back a scratched symbol of a small spider... A little token from an old friend.
With a kick, Tech flew up into the air, looking around a bit before he departed.
....
"Hello, this is techsupport, what seems to be your problem." The man said to the person calling him.
"Yes," A female voice said "I'm afraid I have an error on my computer here that doesn't seem to make sense at all."
Engineer Wills swivveled his chair back a bit. It was an interesting, and somewhat familiar voice "Allright miss, could you please tell me the exact wording of this message?"
"Well," she started "Says here, Firey Feline on the keyboard, please seek assistance with hard to find doofus."
Joseph startled, and almost spewed his coffee across his computer "Cat... Katherine?... How... When..."
"Don't sweat it Joe..." Katherine answered on the other end "Just meet me at the little restaurant in front of Wolffe Square, and we can finally finish that date we started so long ago." -
Job well done I'd say...
It was a good story, and you managed to juggle the characters of all those who volunteered nicely. Though perhaps, on a next project and you want volunteers, it might be better to keep the group smaller, and to pick those who lucked out with this one ;D
Though Tech did develop a little different now in the Whitmoore already. -
As far as I've understood the Rularuu, they're not quite a dimension-hopping invading army.
They seem to be the CoH Representatives of the three Fates, or more "Creation, Order and Death", something faceted in most godlike beings, of which the three major players in the shards are said to be fractions of.
But just like their contemporary legends, one of them went mad, and spun out of control. The second just couldn't handle the stress of the first going so wild and all over the place and the third is suffering for it.
It seems to be tied into the dimension-hopping habits of Nemesis, and the mind-expanding properties of Superadyne. Humans, and their 'echoes', found their way into the world that the three god-fractions were building; One creating the parts, One making the raw parts into an actual world, and the third culling off that what is unneeded and taking it back to the first.
Humans were the unknown, and unplanned for, factor that turned the entire shard upside down, arrested its completion and made at least two of the three insane.
I could also be completely wrong. -
Silly council, they still base their encryptions on the German language...
That doesn't help when the hacker speaks German as well :P -
Awwww.... and I still didn't get to EMP someone's [censored]...
Still, going strong and well. -
Cyclonite Cat, The Fire/Fire Blaster on the Guardian Server is standing here before you showing that smart women can go without glasses and with a lot of style.
Here she is showing off her new ensemble which, she has to admit, she really likes to show off when not out persuing the crimimal element and routing them down.
Full body shot
Detail
She is showing one of Serges' finest creations as of yet. A loose, sleeveless vest worn over a corset of the finest leather. Her skirt leaves a lot to the imagination, and that is how she likes it. Her red panties may be a little too much, but in the words of the fiery feline "I like it."
Her feet are comfortably protected by the latest Deckers Combat Boots (for the stylish yet practical lady) and her accessouries are simple, asian influenced lower-arm bracers; Delicate, yet, suave.
However, when this brave hero stalks the streets in search of super-criminals, something more practical is needed.
Paragon City by Dusk
Let's hear it from the lady in her own words.
"Well, this is actually what I thought for myself to wear once I would finish the university. The colours are basic, I know, but what sticks in the memory of people better; A strange and mystic design with a lot of details, or two primary colours... That happen to be my favourite colours.
The bulletproof jacket was a rather practical thought, I might be able to ignite the very air around me, but I'm hardly bulletproof. The same goes with the bracers on my lower arms, they're tough and in a pinch can deflect a knifeblade or a baseballbat.
As for my skirt and the high boots, well, I kindof 'borrowed' some fashion tips from other heroes around, you know, what'd fit best and I like the result. People see me running along, or gliding in the air and they know it's me.
My cape? When I was offered the opportunity to learn about the sacrifices made by so many heroes in the Rikti wars, I naturally took it. I was moved by the drive of those who were there, and to be honest, I wouldn't know if I could have done the same. In their remembrance, I wear the cape.
I took its design hints from Serge, the partially see-through areas in the cape have a particular effect when I am ablaze, making it seem like the entire cape is being consumed by flame, but is never burned away. It makes the villains think again about coming too close."

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Cyclonite Cat, who has requested we keep her given name to ourselves; One of the many brave, and stylish, souls who give theirselves every day for our continued freedom. -
Apartment: 512
Name: Joseph (Joe) 'Techsupport' Wills
Storyteller: Techsupport
Current Location: Whitmoore Lobby
Powerset: Radiation/Electric Blast Defender; Teleport, Flight, Fitness
Description:
About 6'2" tall. He has green eyes and off-white hair. Not too bad a physical shape from wearing a powerarmour most of the time (the suit is power augmented, but not /too/ much). Joe, in his 'free' time has not much of a taste for clothing. Often found in simple slacks or jeans, with sneakers and a rather loud shirt.
When he's wearing his armour, he usually ties his hair in a ponytail. He has a HUD over his right eye and his armour is a dulled silver grey.
Joseph has no actual superpowers of his own, except for his better-than-average health and his intellect. Any and all powers he has displayed are a primary or secondary function of his armoured suit. Down to the antigravity flight and the Medicom hack that allows him to pull in allies to himself. Well, it's not quite a hack, Joseph got free use of the medicom systems after stopping Sky Raiders from using illegal portal technology to shut down the Teleport Grid.
He lives at the Whitmoore because the clockwork had scavenged his old appartment building into being condemned, and thus forced him to move. For some reason, he has a rather irrational reaction when he is confronted with a Warwolf... -
Tech might've been able to overload his armour as well to put out an EMP... Robots don't like EMPs ;D But our problem is Michael who will no doubt by now show little webbing patterns of green on his chest...
Surgery, no... But I could flood his system with regenerative-inducing radiation waves and Mutate the living daylights out of him. But that might be about as healthy as taking a walk through Terra Voltas' reactor room without protection... One way or another, IF Michael survives... he will not be the same I fear. -
Finally getting back on the horse well enough to start following this thread again
Not wanting to sound like a really great big nag, but what happened to poor Joe? -
Butbutbut... What about my love scene?
I mean... He's like... 37 in this thread. Debonnaire, white-haired, good health and handshome in that Shean Connery shtyle ala Jamesh Bond... erm.. ok... So I exaggerate a little. -
Very interesting write...
So Metal Waffle isn't Blood Waffle, but I bet 'they' used bits of the original one in the copy...
Take one pair of eyes, add in Crey cloning technologies and see what you can get. (hehe.. 'see')
And at first I was thinking Hellsinger wanted Larry to figure out what made the ex-clockwork into a real person, for himself. -
Yo, Manticore... Dude...
As one of your buddies (I have the badge to prove that) I'd like to thank you a lot for the clarifications, and an agonizing wait till I can make more new Defenders. But I have one thing to say, as friends amongst eachother...
Red text and blue background... My eyes are melting! OUCH! -
[ QUOTE ]
Yes, Blood Wolffe is multi-origin, he could be a mutant because he had his powers at birth, science because he was experimented on, and magic because thats how he finally manifested them. I wish they had unkown as an origin sometimes. Even though it doesnt affect anything yet.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hear you can always be half-unknown. But it'd have to be a dark unknown.
((back on topic))
I do have to share the idea that it might be best to create a backstory for your hero first. Maybe you discover that Natural isn't completely what you were looking for after all... -
As far as natural goes, I think the idea given at character creation is that they are not superpowered or extremely intelligent per-se. But they either use the power of their own bodies or use gadgets and devices.
Tech happens to be Technology origin because he makes his own stuff. But what if your electric blaster, natural, has a benefactor that makes his stuff for him? Also, electrics do "Bzzzrt" and not "Blam". ;D
As for Tech, without the armour he's as natural as the screaming guy on the street, just smarter. -
I might be a little silent, but I'm still reading
Hmm... I might want to have a little PM-word with you... -
I pronounce them with the 'Ts' sound from the 'Tsunami' with the T in it, and the rest of the word with the 'o' sound from "So" or "Sew"
So it'll become something like "Tsew"
Or just "NNNINJaaaah" -
I don't know about this. If you were able to manipulate the game environment like this, wouldn't it also mean less and less content for newer players?
If Person A buys the game today, and manages, in a fluke, to take out major NPC X, and person B gets the game tomorrow, there's no more NPC X...
It'd be like the first team of heroes to get to the Hamidon will defeat it and it'll be gone forever. Granted, Developers can think of a new badguy to put there, but would you want to have the job of going through ALL the changes ALL the players made and make substitutes for everyone to follow? -

Blood, love the story, but your name is disorienting as hell.. every time I see it I think it says Blood Waffle, and I am left confused.

IX. Eternal Twilight Dies
Eternal Twilight died at the hands of the mighty Blood Waffle.... The end.
Just kidding of course, the real chapter 9 is going to be a little while. We are having a 3 day inspection at work by our big boss. So much fun I could choke a happy cute squirrel and not feel guilty. All I have to say is... soon.
Must make Blood Waffle story now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to mention the future revenge of Metal Waffle. -
Us radiation emitters need to check out the new chances to Chocking Cloud and Lingering Radiation on test now. The first is supposed to have faster and more ticks, the second is said to debuff enemy health regeneration now too...
Brilliant Guide btw -
Techsupport: Techsupports' name was chosen two-way. It tied in nicely to his backstory, which ties in nicely to my RL job :/ Also it's a clever play on his Archetype and Origin. A Technology Defender... Support class, tech... etc
Cyclonite Cat: A Fire/Fire Blaster. She has nothing to do with the weather. I was inspired by a movie title called 'Detonator' (name taken). Then tried 'Blast Cap' and varieties (also taken). Then decided that I really wanted her name tied into an explosive. I came out on 'Cyclonite' one of the most popular explosives in WW2. Her backstory turned her into a university chemistry major, and given her powers, a 'nerdy' name suddenly fit well. Also, it alliterates like any proper comicbook superhero style name
D'20 Gladiator I took (with permission) from one of my favourite webcomics. And the why is really too long to explain.
Pei the Moogle; her name's more or less a pun too. Paying the piper > Pay the piper > Pei the Moogle :P -
That's some mighty fine Defending ;D
And to think... Tech only 'accidentally' discovered what is now his main power while trying to invent more powerful tazer-gloves :P
Glad he did. -
*itches for more, oh no, wait, that's warwolf fur that got under my armor. Sorry. My bad.*
-
Ohwell... I'm just eagerly awaiting me inthere.
I'm very much not a hippie, despite the long hair.
