If you want to PvP your almost forced to farm very often just to be able to buy some sets that let you compete with others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you STILL want to PvP, post I13, I would voice the opinion of getting your head examined.
And also leaving the rest of us out of it.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of all the "soon" rubbish, and no longer expect ANYthing from NC.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So just what exactly do you think the 3-times-as-large dev team are doing right now?
Jay previously made costume parts and new NPCs at the same time while working on his own, so obviously with an assistant now he's only capable of making a few costume parts for a booster pack.
BAB used to work alone too - but he's got at least one assistant in the animation department now - so I guess NCSoft really wanted to make sure that /e cardtrick emote looked just right?
War Witch - who does zone NPC text and placement - is certainly blackmailing NSCSoft to keep her job, as she's had next to no work in the previous two Issues.
And NCSoft, well aware of the two new superhero MMOs on the way, rehired Sean "Manticore" Fish - the CoH story/lore guru - right after they bought the game, because they thought it'd be cool for him to hang out with his old work team again?
And apparently NCSOft are still looking to hire more for the dev team - just to help out the economy, of course.
So now that the MA is released - quite obviously the last thing left on their "to do" list - they call all kick back with soda or coffee and fully enjoy their renamed studio while NCSoft donates even more cash to them.
Because it's totally unlikely that the devs would actually be working, or have a strategy bulit around the release of possible competitor MMOs, or that NCSoft would even want them to do this.

Ok. Fair points. But, going on that, I15 will have a lot of bad/rushed/improv work to eclipse.

And drop some of that Golden fury on some of the cretins around the board, that might show that 'Soon' isnt an impossibility ^^

unless of course you are infering that Cryptic were fishing for content for their possible sequel while still working on this game

[/ QUOTE ]Of course they were, was there ever any question about that?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, knew I should of added the sarcastic smiley face. Colour me surprised... not.

Still, the equivalent content mentioned to compete on enviroments is there waiting to be developed and implemented. If official Poll suggestion finalists aren't implemented then NCsoft can't really complain about what I fear may be an inevitable choice by an awful lot of the Veteran subscribers who have experienced all the content thus far.

You see, after this Summer 'Soon™' stops working.

    1) Getting rid of farming will never happen. Dont make other suffer to try and hit a minority. /Unsigned

    2) Don't really see the point in this. If this is inspired by PvP, another massive /Unsigned

    3) Again, stop trying to harm others to harm farmers. All you will do is screw things up. /Unsigned

    4) How about ignore PvP till it gets fixed? It won't remove the fact that Post I13 PvP will still suck.

    5) You forget that there are plenty of attacks that do -def, sometimes in large ammounts. This sounds like another PvP inspired idea, so /Unsigned.

    6) (Or 7, seeing as you missed 6.)
Stalkers are not meant to be, nor ever were meant to be, the same as Brutes/Scrappers. They are totally different ATs, with massively different styles. Stalkers have low end costs and hide capabilities. Brutes have mass hitting powers, but need the Fury bar and have high end cost attacks. /Unsigned, it works fine as is.

Only so they could farm it for merits, and issue 14 removed the need for merit farming.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nonsense - villains have been asking for greater SF/TF parity pretty much since CoV came out, and well before merits were a twinkle in Positron's eye.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. I don't really give two hoots about merits, I, and the majority of others in our redside SG, would rather have something to fill the godawful level gaps in CoV...

The farming and PLing thing is a separate issue really, as many players have been finding the quickest and easiest ways to get inf/XP for ages now

    [/ QUOTE ]

Team A: Join a team with normalish xp and possibility of a level or 2

Team B: Mega xp with mega levels.

    Hard choice to make !!!

Unless of course your team C which offers something different, make a team fun to make people want to team with you.

    [/ QUOTE ]
For me, a good team is one who can keep it together when things get wildly out of control. It takes no special skill to keep things easy in CoH, but being in a team that can react to the moment enough to turn a team-wipe situation round into a victory is one of the most special things that can happen in this game. The best fights always end with everyone red-lined, IMO. That's the buzz I'm looking for and XP/inf are completely secondary.

Years ago I had a regular late night team with a guy called Judder Man. We'd put together a PuG and run stupidly over-level missions. They were kamikaze runs really and we'd usually come out of it with more debt than XP, but those two or three victories out of five or more fights made those teams some of the most fun I've ever had in this game. The shared adversity and the banter that went along with it was pure gold. Nowadays I love playing in PuGs with new players, because the fights are almost always exciting.

With a few months experience and a generic uberised build anyone can rinse and repeat. It's a completely trivial exercise, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whats best is the teams that fight in near dead silence...
While slaughtering ANYTHING in their path. They have no need of mere communication, they simply KNOW what to do against such and such AV, which ends in said villain face down with a broken arm and a pair of cuffs on 'em. The silence is only broken by the 'Gj' at the end of the mission, the odd 'lol' at some funny glitch, or 'lvling' between missions.

    Costumes, powersets and big fights.

More costume options, let the imagination buckle under how much we can do.
More sets, let diversity be king.
More fights, let they be epic in the extreme!

Actually, taking the inf away isnt so bad an idea.
I mean, what do you need it for, in MA? Tickets already get you nearly anything you want.
Exp stays, because after all the concept also mentioned a 'Training Sim' and what else would that give you other than exp.
So, does it need inf to run?

    [ QUOTE ]
I find farming enjoyable, good influence, good exp, all round fun!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sure. Thats not the problem. Farming is just something that will persist in games.

It gets bad when the Devs have to rebuild MA missions to 'Stop farming', and one of the cities starting zones is filled with 'LFF PL PLZ!!1' on broadcast. Negative impression for newbies much?
  17. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

The difference being, the MA allows the creative bods among the player base to create some great arcs and stuff, negating the 'Been there, played it' feel, because there will ALWAYS be new arcs.
Unless of course people were silly enough to clog up the thing with tons of bilge and farm mission, and then pollute broadcast worse than PI ever was...
    Waaait a minute...

    [/ QUOTE ]
So you give the aswner yourself. It there wasnt a MA, or MA was majorly anti-farm (lets say no rewards at all), PI broadcast would still exist. Basicly, the entire 'method' to farming would still exist.

So then whats the problem? Community. Devs give the system, players abuse it.

If devs really want to nerf down farming, they only have to snap their fingers.

But you're definiatly right on the mission listing, at first i was hoping they would have heavy moderation on this and categories to put missions in (specialy 1 for 'farming' - but that would incline devs agree with farmers, then again they do so now).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, only PI farming didnt cause a problem. People that wanted to farm that bad would head to PI, and those that were happy to farm them would do so. Not a problem.

    What is a horribly large problem is when the broadcast in Atlas now is JUST;
    "Lff plz"
    "Farm team lf healer"
    "LVL 1 FARM MISSIONG PLX!!!!11"

This is a begginer zone. That is a really BAD thing for people to see on their first day.
Someone in broadcast had got from 1-50 already, and had had the game for 2 weeks.
    2 WEEKS!
Now, if thats NOT a huge waste of resources, in other words, the whole rest of the game, I dont know what is.

So, yes, farming always has been and probably always will be here.
But this just got big, and rather bad.

    Its quite easy:

Time changes, things changes.. everything will change some day or another. It is more the player who cannot accept these changes. Accept, adept and move on.

The basics that MA does, it not different from Oroboros. The thing newspaper can do, is the same as MA, but within a zone.

And i heard many people already, OMGORZ CO IS TEH BOXORROXOR! Yes, so was AoC, so was TR, so even was LK (but yet so dead easy and too many bored yet again).

Its not the content that makes the game, it is what you do with it. If you feel bored with 'doing', dont blame the developers to push more more content. The more they bring, often bigger, the faster you get bored with it, as its only an extention to what you already do.

Yes, i have critics on stuf they have released, or yet leaving behind after release, but i create my own fun within the game. Oroborus? I prob did a handfull of missions, that new roman zone? I only visited it.

If i dont feel wacking mobs or farming, i go into the sewers buffing people. Its so fun to see everyone go thx and thankyou and woo yeey and stuff. For what? Buffing a bunch of lowbies that cant even wack a lvl9 boss. I dont care for ubah IO's, i dont care for badges, just like i dont care for 226/229 items in LK, or all those ubah achievements. I care for my own fun only.

when I see a granite tank

[/ QUOTE ]Fixed that for you.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You implying all granite tanks are from PL/farming?

[/ QUOTE ]No, I'm implying they're useless compared to other tanks in the majority of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As much as it pains me i have to agree with this stone armour is a badly thought out power set all the armours pre teir 9 pale in comparison to granite even the one that gives def to psy pales in comparison to granite because there are so few mobs that do purely psy damage that its far easier to run granite and just heal back any psy damage.

all stones pre granite armours need buffing and granite needs nerfing its sad but true

    [/ QUOTE ]

In a sense i kinda agree Granite shouldnt be a toggle it should be on par with other defensive sets and used once every 3-6 minutes draining the stone brute/tanker of all end and health as such a feat would hurt anyone .

    [/ QUOTE ]

That would be the death knoll of the stone tanker. Granite is massively restrictive compared to any of the other tanker uber powers. If it was a click instead of a toggle than I, for one, would want no damage reduction, no speed reduction and no recharge reduction. Why should you be double penalised for it? Also there is the fact that with all the other stone armours on not only do you run out of endurance very quickly but your survivability is a joke compared to granite.

I think a compromise would be, buff all the stone armours so they give a better level of protection and then remove all penalties from granite, before finally making granite a clicky. Then you can hear the thuds as most stone tankers drop granite and moan about how it is now a weak version of inv.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or how about leave it as it is? And stop trying to 'Fix' things that aren't broke?
Unless the Devs have develloped the need for a 'Meddling Fix'? -sigh-

So? I've seen an Invul tanker with nothing but Resist Physical Damage and Invulnerability. At level 26.
Its NOTHING to do with the powers, its the players that play them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I assume you mean "invincibility".

Interesting. I would really like to see that tank in action. I really cannot see how such a build has much survivability.

Surely saying that it is "nothing" to do with the powers is a slight exaggeration?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Fixed, thanks =P

He performed terribly. He couldnt tank, he couldnt fight very well, and, as expected, he was a really obnoxious person. After two missions, my patience ran out and the Kick Button saw use.

No, fair enough. But looking at Stone armour there are few, if any powers in it that are 'Broken'. Some people mgiht not like them, sure, but it works fine. You might need to adapt to it (as I plan to attempt when servers are back) but it can work fine.

Now take Energy Aura. THAT, as numerous people have said, is broken. Its still vaguely playable, but the ammount of adaption and plugging required tilts it too far.

Players>Powers. I've seen players with quite tough powersets putting others to shame. And some friends have taken the not so tough to play sets and boosted them to whole new levels of awesome.
