Yeah, exactly the problem I'm having. With that huge defence, soloing and fighting 2-3 guys at a time seems a waste, so the AOEs are easy to leverage. I dial up the team size to 3 or 5 (seems to get more bosses that way), and then the AOEs are fine.
I wish I hadn't read that part of the guide, to be honest, it makes me really notice the long animation times. :P -
Remember that now we have the mail system, all your characters' slots are available. If you've got other characters, you have slots you can use to move stuff.

Quote:Yeah, see, this is where you lost my sympathy when you complained about not having the time to read text designed for your information in a video game you choose to play.I'd like to speak in favor of the gnashers. Not everyone has time to read everything.
If we're talking, say, real life safety management I might have more sympathy, but, we're very much not. -
Quote:Well, yes, there is an important difference in that the former is observation and the latter is conjecture.Speaking for myself? Very sure.
Now there is a difference [maybe not an important difference for your purposes] between these statements:
1. "the markets are full of max level recipes because the level 50s are making all the recipes"
2. "People below 50 don't roll until they reach 50."
I do not disagree at all that the data supportrs a (massive?) bias towards 50s producing material. I have no qualms about that at all. But aside from urban myth and anecdote (which I am reluctant to trust), I don't have any good idea as to the motivation behind it.
Plus, from where I sit, only rolling at 50 is a wasteful or stupid process - as is rolling all the way up. Both of these behaviours make me wonder, because I'm curious about the why. If you design the right incentive plan, you can influence behaviour, but you need to understand the behaviour along the way.
Anyway, I didn't want to say 'you're wrong,' but rather, ask 'why do you think that's right,' so don't take me as arguing here, but rather, asking. -
Quote:Your post seems to think there's only a binary set of options here; a massive overload of information, or the tiny window we have. There are many steps along this possible gradient.
None, but I'm not in favour of making it harder for them.
Then again, the 'delete in 60' rule of the market was something that I sincerely, sincerely miss, since I loved watching people gnash their teeth and whine when they failed to read something that they were told to read. Much like the farm-creators in AE, I suppose. -
What sympathy should we have for people who want to be ignorant?
-
I recognise that, definitely. But what I am curious about is hether or not that's a function of people failing to roll as they level, or if most merit-generating tasks are being performed at 50, by 50s.
-
Quote:How sure of this are we, Peter?
People tend to wait until 50 before spending merits. -
Quote:This is why it's a bad idea to make friends, because sometimes you'll have to say goodbye to them. While I'm glad to see this change come along, since it'll mean a little more balance in market prices, I can't help but worry about what new problems may come around with this.
Quote:I'm sure they're not idiots, so I'm wondering just what their crystal ball could've foretold. What do you all think?
So I would say, based on this, that Positron was probably only ambiguously certain of the 'possible problems' he's talking about, but wanted to sound more legitimate when he said 'No, because I don't know why not.' The larger market is the same as two smaller markets. Pressures equalise over time, it's just the nature of the beast. Rather than make a move that had potential to be unpopular without knowing one way or another, he professed to sekrit knowledge that meant that he didn't have to justify himself to us when we asked him for an explanation. -
Ditto - or at least, I would have done that, if not for the fact I don't like masterminds and can't stand playing them.

Quote:This is an interesting perspective, and has pulled me towards agreeing with you.Frankly, I'd rather see the marketeers work the challenge with the little data they have, than overburden a mostly "casual" game with spreadsheets and excel files. If CoH turns into EVE I'm gone. People seem to work the market just fine as it is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So that proc protects you from three powers from three mobs. Wohoo!
-
Bane spiders placate. Taunt? I don't think there's a single mob that taunts.
-
Rock/ has Fault, to amplify your AOE survivability, and keep people in burn patches.
-
Ironic note, I've been finding that myself, I'm getting fed up with Burn for having a long animation.

You sound concerned.
Myself, I see a lot of what's happened under W_W's watch to be the more ambitious, difficult things to implement, so, we get more bugs. I know of some bugs that have been around since I started playing the game, so the idea that W_W is somehow worse for QC than the older heads were seems very odd from where I sit. -
Can you explain that better?
"The lack of fixing problems" is rather inexact. What are you actually saying? -
Quote:And in that same context, no less, a system that has been tapped by those same sources as potentially a route for harvesting... information. And yet some people opposed to this merge for tenuous RP reasons* still happily use a system which is categorically stated to have been created by Dr Aeon and Crey Industries.
People are weird.
BUT IT'S ALL OKAY BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE TO AE SO SHUT UP I CAN'T HEAR YOU CONSISTANCY IS GOD LA LA LA. -
Hey, now, partner! No commenting on things like that! You've gotta propose an alternative, to fix it! Don't go on be coming all up ins here with your observations and common sense! Don't you dare try to actually point out things that are obvious!

Quote:The problem does remain that there'd be very little incentive to melee with them. It might be almost 'pistol scrappers in the back door' kinda thing. But I don't have such a big problem with it per se.I'm always interested in more "natural" options. Dominators has needed one since forever. I would have prefered "pistol assault" because I think it would look cooler but a rifle is fine too.
If we open the discussion to 'natural themed dominator set' what I'd rather is a control set that sacrifices its ranged options for PBAOE options, and is predicated on throwing knives. Assault set, the same, modelled after Blaze/Bitter Ice Blast, which sacrifice long range for increases in damage.
Just off the top of my head, mind. Maybe if they get around to 'fixing' Trick Arrow (which I hear has problems) they'll have the room provided for this kind of set to be created.
