Well I think this already started on defiant, but I've recently created a Sonic/Rad corr on Union. Should you guys decide to go there after all give me a tell @Solar Flash
-
Actually once you hit 35 you will never have end issues again as a /kin. I never said /kin has no usefull powers for yourself, I only said I didn't want to go through the whole teambuffing thing again. Because with SB, which only lasts 2 minutes, you ARE spending a lot of time buffing when on an 8 man team. Not to mention planting siphon power/fulcrum shift correctly so you hit as many teammembers as you can.
The fact that /rad is more about debuffing enemies makes it quite different from /kin. Don't get me wrong tho, I absolutely LOVE /kin, and think it's just about the coolest powerset I've had on any char so far. I just don't want ANOTHER 40 lvls of it :P -
That's team PvP tho...I'm not really to fond of buffing teammates continuously after lvling my /kin. (I'm fine with doing it on him but want something different now)
/rad is more about debuffing the enemy, which isn't just different, it also means you have a use for it yourself, and not just your teammates.
I've currently got this idea for a Sonic/Rad build:

Think we should go to bed yet? LOL -
Hmm it seems */Sonic Resonance could be nice in PvE in teams, but the use in PvP is limited. You are simply to reliant on teammates to really make it work I think. The only usefull ones seem Sonic Siphon and Sonic Dispersion, which just isn't enough IMO.
Currently I'm thinking of either Radiation or Dark as secondary. Both seem to have powers that let you slow foes and most importantly decrease their resistance even more. Are there any opinions on which of these (or any other) set would go decently with Sonic/* for a decent PvP char? -
Hmmm Filth has a point...this does give better shielding
Something about damage debuffs, I read somewhere that if something is resistant to damage he is automatically also resistant to resistance debuffs. So if something has 90% dmg resistance to smashing/lethal, he also has 90% resistance to a damage debuff for smash/lethal dmg. Ofcourse few things have 90% damage resistance to anything anymore (under normal conditions). Still, is this true? And is the effect strong enough to make the sonic debuffs fairly weak? -
Hey guys,
I recently realised I have seen hardly any sonic/sonic corr...nor have I seen one with either a sonic primary or secondary and a different type for the other powerset.
Why is this? Are they really that awfull? Cause it seems to me you get a great deal of dmg resistance debuffs. Wouldnt this be very nice against stuff like brutes/tanks? Or am I missing something that makes them awfully bad? (cause I honestly don't remember seeing a single one!!!) -
In all honesty, I think all has been said here. Not to put zak's views in a bad light, but IMO they were only recapping things said earlier and didn't add anything to this discussion that wasn't said before.
You've proved your point. We've already stated that we'll try and change this attitude. I'm not sure what more you're looking for here. If it's the training room challenge, I'm going to try and get people in my VG interested in this. There's no more need for any discussion here I think. -
*sigh* I don't know about other posters, but I'm really sick of this. The whole arrogance act was part of a roleplay thing. Maybe it was a bad idea, maybe it got out of hand. I don't particularly care, I just know I have better things to do than discuss it with people I technically don't even know. I'm dropping the act and will try to advise other SG members to do the same.
We're not an Uber-VG. We are currently the most active one. We have extremely good PvE players (IMHO), that have a good and friendly "relationship". I can't speak for other members, but I also feel like I have a lot of buddies in other VGs which I have a good time teaming with. In PvP we have had many successes so far. Whether those successes mean anything or not is for others to decide.
For what it's worth, I'm personally still interested in the training room challenge. -
Well I think with your 2 primary attacks, your end will do alright...still that's something experience will need to tell by lvl 20. If your end still sucks I'd go Stam-Acro-Reflexes :P
Since u get superjump at 14, I really don't need that extra vertical movement for that 1 day you play the char where he's in the lvls between 6 and 14 :P
I'd rather be able to zip to my target as quickly as possible. -
Actually I'd go for acro at 20 and delay stamina a little. End really won't be as much of an issue for this brute, I think. It will need stamina, obviously, but getting Acro at 24 really sucks (I've been there on my dark/fire, it wasn't fun). Post-20 you REALLY need it
And I'd take swift instead of hurdle, but thats just because I like to be maneuvrable during a fight, a matter of taste.
I'd prolly do
20: Acro
22: Stam
24: Lightning Reflexes (as cool as this power is, its definetely the least wanted of these 3) -
The pets only take 1/8th of the damage tho, half you take. Not sure what kind of numbers that would give, but I think they'll be in decent condition afterwards. Ofcourse being an FF MM, my bots are simply better defended then I am. So sending them to take the alpha may actually mean they take LESS damage then when I take it.
-
Still, with 6 pets out, you take only 1/4th of the damage...that's pretty good armor. But the defensive setting will take some getting used to...
Didnt know defense lets pets attack your attacker as well MZ, but I guess it makes sense -
Well since you get no KB protection, I'd pick up acrobatics on the way anyways. And I just so happen to run into combat jumping while doing that, which means immobilize resistance. Problem solved
(works fine for fire brutes)
-
Isn't the defensive setting return fire when fired upon? So technically, in PvE, I could aggro an enemy with an attack order, then immediately set my henchmen to bodyguard mode and be "perfectly safe"?
But in PvP I get 2 choices if I run into an enemy:
1. I let my bots attack him, while my enemy ignores my bots and attacks me. Due to the lack of bodyguard I die quickly.
2. I set my bots to bodyguard, but since my enemy ignores them, my bots ignore him too. I now die slowly because of bodyguard, but my bots just watch it happen?
Or am I being pessimistic? :P -
Thx for the private message Max, I never check this forum LOL.
Well the call isn't mine to make, but I am VERY VERY interested in doing this
I've let Dr. Death know, he will prolly reply very quickly. Altho I do fear that getting enough people to get the training room online is going to be a challenge (I definetely think it's worth the time tho).
Your challenge is being processed -
Actually, the most impressive MM I've seen in PvP and PvE too prolly was a Robo/FF WITHOUT PFF in his build. I won't go into the details, but do not underestimate the power of stacked buffs. With PFF you leave your pets squishy, without it you can make them very powerfull indeed. Using PFF is for people with no imagination
The FF set can be used so much better! -
Bah it's no problem, just glad everything is clear now
I do admit ID is probably my least used power. In fact, I mostly got it for during base-raids and the use in PvE is, even in my case, limited. -
Where did I say just not taking ID makes you an awful kineticist? I listed 3 things there. You stated you do heal, and you do speed boost the team. IMO that makes you more then good enough. I never said ID was a requirement for a good kineticist, I said a good one needs to at least think about getting it. You clearly have, if you don't think it's worth it, thats your call to make. As long as you keep the team SBed and healed your doing a great job IMO.
I also dont use it to continuously buff a team. But when a CoT mage releases an earthquake, it CAN really help people. I had a great time in my 20s teaming with a dominator friend. With my buffs and heals he could easily tank spawns (even in groups with more then just us 2). Without ID this wouldn't have been possible. Ofcourse, you could also just get a brute :P
Please read my post a little better, cause I never said not taking ID makes you an awful (or even a mediocre) kineticist. -
I agree with Max BTW, we need another big rumble. Another SG rumble, I loved the last one
-
Lol thank you. Being a corruptor in a rumble that is about mez effects is NOT fun lol.
I would like to point out in return it's the violators that made this happen, EVIL merely showed up because we persuaded them to! :P (an eye for an eye...)
-
I suppose being Mind/Psi, you welcome the different damage type. Mind/Energy doesn't have those problems tho, cause none of the secondary damage is psychic anyways.
A good point on the boss tho.
The stray AoE thing is a situational problem and can be overcome by putting the right mob to sleep (there's always one safely out of aoe range)
It's really a matter of personal opinion. I think a Mind/Psi would already benefit from it more then a Mind/Energy just for the damage variety. -
Really? Well that's very impressive then
