Quote:Sorry for the late reply...Originally Posted by Samuel_TowPersonally, I'd prefer characters and their roles as "in-character" as possible, from a writing perspective. I understand that recognition needs to be given to those that deserve it, but I'd prefer that to happen either at initial briefing (or even arc description) or otherwise at end debriefing or final Souvenir.
This is where I feel it gets a little complicated. Keep in mind, winners will be Elite Bosses with most likely no surrounding group (definitely won't have data room for custom enemy group)...
You're a Hero entering a warehouse owned by Malta, intent on acquiring some item.
VillainWinner (example) is there as well...
What's their motive not knowing that you'd be there going in?
Were you spotted entering and they show up (triggered) to simply challenge you?
They friendly to Malta or hostile to both you and them?
If VillainWinner is a Rogue or Vigilante, they may be Ally to your Hero. But will they betray if they learn your motive?
Allies to me in this situation (being level 50 EBs) I see not being hostage/captured. In my mind, they've been around the block and know their limits. Now, if the winner chooses Ally and is cool with being hostage/captured... that's up to them.
These are the issues that I forsee, without giving the winners some kind of insight as to how I plan to inject them into the mission.
If a winner doesn't like A/E and never plays the arc, but trusts that I'll use them respectfully... then it's simple.
If a winner does play the arc they're present in and wants me to modify how they're used... I will.
Anyhoo... it's lunchtime for me...

Chiming in to inform that I have updated the original post with details and some picture examples to help outsiders visualize how important this is to me to get this right.
( no, the example doesn't mean you're a lock Samuel_Tow! /e deflateego)
Yes, I will be choosing finalists... but the winners won't exactly be chosen by me... so my hands will be only partially dirty.
Keep the submissions coming and...

Thanx Khellen... first MM submitted
Quote:I just think it'd be cool to see something like this. A collection of Heroes and Villains from all servers here and there with their own unknown objectives during story arcs. And for those that read the details... it'll be like "Whoa, this chump went through a lot of work to make it feel like a bigger world"...Originally Posted by KhellendroslicBut yeah, this looks interesting and I've always been a fan of inter-connectedness. -
Thank you, Sei. Hard to make him out in the face... you happen to have a pic larger is size?

Since I did NOT visit the forums that often other than to occassionally check on Dev Digest through my 7 years (well, sometimes I stopped by Guardian threads)...
And now that I'm hooked up with the weekly A/E team and the MA Arc Finder channel...
I'm discovering my "searches" in seldomly playing arcs on A/E weren't really doing me much good...
I'm starting to realize the authors who are passionate about their creations and want to improve upon them instead of just merely trying a little and moving on weren't likely to be stumbled upon by me through my previous methods.
Not saying the ones I played were all bad through that method, but there was a lot of critter imbalance and flawed writing that steered me away some...
I look forward to hitting A/E a few times a week and checking out more of your creations... and if I haven't gotten around to ya yet... I most likely will soon enough.
If you've received comments by me lately, you know who I'm talking about. It's actually helping me improve my present one (comedy one doesn't count) and hopefully furture ones by playing yours.

I'll /sign on with this as well... and also agree that an A/E terminal makes more sense here than RWZ. That building looks and feels so outta place there... it didn't make it into Croatoa and don't understand how it made it to RWZ.
-
Well, we'll see how it goes... I'm wrapping up the last of my builds (Merits and drops will handle the rest)... we'll see what I have come July.
-
To sum it up, yea. >
Yea... I just stopped by Justice Pocket D tonight... looking around...
75% of you have awesome looking characters w/bios... quit being so complicated! -
Interesting where this went here. Wasn't exclusively looking for well-known players, just awesome all-around creations.
I personally don't care if the submissions are from someone who solos all the time or PvPs exclusively or RPs with certain people or is the one with the highest badge count or whatever it may be.
Really just want character submissions from each server... maybe represent was the wrong wording?

Sounds good... please post it with the link when ya do. Cool name and looking forward to it.

Thanx for trying "Black as Midnight" what you did Ironik... ironically (har har), went thru and made about 12 text changes after the Tip Writing thread. I obviously didn't scrutinize myself enough and was hoping to update it before I contradicted myself. Mission FAIL! Oh well, always room for improvement and I'm learning... I'm learning...
Yea, the arc is really geared for those actually in that level range (22-27+) WITH inspirations on the final map. Both EBs(Bosses) are alone and should present a moderate challenge. There should also be enough enemies inbetween to resupply Inspirations between the two. I've played it with every AT so I know some will struggle slightly more than others... but it's the best balance I found.
I also must say since Guardian is my home... I believe I've teamed with Future Shock before and that's a very nice character. -
Can submit as many as ya want... only 1 of your characters can possibly win tho.
-
A lot of this is all subject to Custom Group size, the bigger the group... the more freedom you have. 1 minion in a group of 1 that has a hold = lots of holds. 1 out of 5 minions that have a hold = much less annoyance and LT having hold ain't so bad.
Keep in mind, for the soloist... 3 minions in a group is normal... so in order to make a unique experience each encounter, you may want at least 4 minions.
Also, patrols can always keep a team on their toes.
Good luck! -
It can be a long read, but Paragon Wiki: Custom Units has some inside info and tips to creating balanced groups and such.
Creating a custom group for solo that's fun and challenging for multiple ATs is quite a task in itself, IMO. If you can pull that off... make it work solo for all ATs... then it should work great for a team as well. -
Just popping in to say:
Signal: Noise really stood out, and is worth a visit to A/E (IMO). It was very creative in its mechanics and story. Very memorable! -
To: Texas Justice
If I were to come to your server:
Place: Pocket D or RWZ (wherever Incarnate Trials usually form on Justice)
Event: Character Contest submissions (ends July 4th)
Reward: Guest Appearance for 1 (50) Hero/Vig and 1 (50) Villain/Rog from Justice in upcoming A/E story arcs I've got laid out + prizes to be determined. 2 from each server are to be represented.
Time Required for Event: approximately 15 minutes
While You're There: Start forming up Trial Teams in Broadcast, while I get submissions in Request. This way... hey 50s are gathering for some kinda crazy A/E Character Contest... let's form a Trial while he's taking submissions!... and you can filter out Request temporarily if you don't want to be bothered with my visit.
Thank you Callie. I think what I may need to do is temporarily join the server's primary chat channel when I visit their server. I'm talking to PERC currently to see what they would suggest. -
Made a Brute, got him to level 4 and logged him at RWZ A/E building.
Barring any unforseen events... I'll be there and I'll be green. -
Nice to see a Triumph submission. Thanx!
And not arranging personal meetings with the characters, per say...
I'm stopping by a different server each week with the A/Envasion team... so, trying to get some submissions while I'm there visiting. If there will be more than that... I'm not sure of it yet. -

Stating again in a friendly debating matter... it's really not a huge issue to me, just giving input or feedback here...
