  1. As with most new game designers, you've forgotten the importance of K.I.S.S. By adding more rules, you've drastically increased the entropy in the system and the opportunity for people to find fault in it.

    Homecoming

I don't see Thornster around here much at all anymore, but Scarfy still jumps in now and again. Nice to see you returning, BAS.

    Airheaded Vision

    ROFL~

Airhead really knows the perfect thing to say in every situation, doesn't he?
  4. Unless the art reads to it's subject as fire themed, it's not fire themed. If you need pre-existing knowledge to understand the connection and your subject does not have that knowledge, then your piece fails to express itself.

If I drew Mel and had no fire anywhere at all, it would not read as fire-themed to anyone who didn't know the character. That's a failure to express the theme for that month.

This goes for everyone, not just Bubba.
  5. Oh look, a cute widdy sharkie! That's cute, using a funny epic power...

    *PVP mode on*

OMG WHAT THE HELL?!?! *dead from a billion shark damage*

You posted an unfinished piece as well, simply to get the points for being early, then added to it afterwards. That wouldn't fly in *any* other competition at all. Furthermore, you're the person RUNNING the competition. I mean, if that's not a conflict of interests, I really don't know what is. There's a reason that competitions disallow anyone involved in officiating it, or their relatives or friends from entering in them.

There's no reason you can't do art along with everyone else. But as I see it, you have no business being in the actual running with everyone else. I honestly believed that it was going to be difficult to top the previous years nonsensical ongoings and illogical decisions, but congratulations, you're well on your way.

As for being mean? You obviously haven't been paying attention these last years. I don't go stomp on puppies for fun, but when I see someone doing something completely boneheaded, I will speak up.
  7. And again, it requires Facebook or SMS messaging? Uh. No.

I'm sorry CH, but this site is apparently hell bent on keeping me from voting for you, or anyone.
  8. The fact that some of these entries will get more points than other ones that are finished properly makes a mockery out of the entire system, IMO. This contest is no longer about art, it's about playing the game.
  9. We've been through this before and the end result was the ruling by the mods that DA art behind the mature gating counts as two-clicks because you have to be voluntarily signed up ahead of time and agree to it, in order to have it be only one-click away.

Whether or not people may like it is another thing entirely. But that's what we've been obeying here in the 606 ever since.
  10. Hohohoho~ You're really trying to open Pandora's Box, aren't you? :3
  11. I'm not going to defend anyone's side for coming in with commissioned art late, but I know that all of the people I've seen have gotten their art, even after a lengthy wait. When she originally did her commissions, she even said her turnaround time for new customers was months long. But eventually she always followed through.

Now, I don't know your side of things to be able to judge anything here. So that's why I said, make sure to contact her again. While it's her fault that she took so long, you may just be a single message away from having your orders fulfilled. Though if you want to just give up on it, then that's fine too, I suppose.
  12. Cash has been really busy lately with all the stuff going on in her life, so make sure and leave her a DA note inquiring about the old commission work. She may have lost track of it entirely.
  13. ******* great art. Very nice find on the artist.
  14. Personally I think that awarding any points for being first is stupid, period. If this is about an art competition and you're awarding points on something not based on art, you're doing it wrong, IMO. Also, forcing people to compete in order to rush and gain an advantage is going to be detrimental for the contest. Because you're denying *everyone* of the good art that may have been, in favor of the art that's been hastily scribbled out in order to guarantee points.

You're making all of this a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Do art, get votes, win.
  15. She has a big staff, doesn't she?
  16. I picked based on how people used the theme and the effort in making it an entire piece, rather than just a simple portrait.

    1. Henri
    2. Techbot Alpha
    3. Beedub (BW, which is not Bubba)

I really wanted to vote for LousyDay, but the piece needed the poem to work and the syllables in the poem didn't flow very well to me.
  17. Most of those are tolerated because they're offering services that are related to CoH, but this is a little iffy as it's just your own material, essentially making this spam.

Also, you made the Battloids a clone of the Paladin class, which is suffers heavily from MAD and is a flawed defender at it's core. I would have at least tried to fix some of the problems with it, in the re-write.

  20. So, wait. What happens if you don't have a Facebook page? You should really mention that you need one to 'Support James' :\
  21. Congrats, Jophie. I hope that something really nice comes out of this. Curious now what the idea was, since it was so sudden. Creating ideas under pressure sometimes leads to really cool output.

Ooh, I love the rich hues on that piece. Like a gorgeous sunset in the background.
  23. I can't ever afford to get commissions from the nicer artists, so I'm totally in for a try.
  24. Welcome back Alex. I saw you on earlier, nice to have you back again. We missed you.
