*walks in, carrying a jackhammer with a sharpened post mounted on it*
Man, that was one hell of a barfight... -
One time, I logged out in a police station for the day job badge. When I logged back in, my toon was in the station...in the interrogation room. The door doesn't work. I could see the rest of the station through the window, but I couldn't get out. Used my Pocket D pass to escape.

Anyone still need rescuing?

*waves to all others* -
*walks in, opens a briefcase of bootleg movies*
Alright, it's time to separate the buyers from the spyers, the needy from the greedy, and those who trust me from those who don't, because if you can't see value in this movie, you ain't out here shopping, you're shoplifting!
Alright, one price! *claps hands* Ten pounds! -
*walks in, gives Night a Golden Donut (tm) for hitting 100 posts, leaves*

Recently got my vet reward Arachnos helmets, so I used a Wolf Spider helm on a blueside blaster and called him Spydra-Shok.
Debated using the name Detroit Glock City for another toon, but decided otherwise. Probably unique enough to be free, so if it clicks with anyone, by all means... -

No worries about the deadline, Fish...as entrant #48, you're solidly in. I think you still have time to put in more entries (you can have 5 total) or revise your entry before 3/4, if I am interpreting the rules correctly. So feel free to tweak and bring your A game (and I've stolen from your costumes before, so I know you have an A game!)

FISH!!!
Glad to see you throw your hat in the ring! I really like your take on States. -
I wanted to thank the Gods of the Golden Age for hosting this fine shindig. Had a lot of fun, got third in one contest with one of my toons, and saw some great costumes.
As for the banner event, the toon I was on at the time is a bit of a Guy Gardner, so it fit him to wait until the contest was done before he flew out to try to help (too late, as it turned out). Still, it's not like a regular contest in Atlas, where everyone's out in the open already.
Overall, though, much fun had. And grats to Outback! -
Wow, this is a popular thread! Lots of great designs, can't wait for next week!
Alright, so for my final entry...I went with the regular old update. Sorry, Teeth.
So, my final lineup...
Statesman: I hate his faceplate. It's so silly, being just a faceplate with no back to it to make a proper helmet! So I went with a small mask, kept his design simple, changed the cape.
Sister Psyche: Rogue inspired, with the jacket over the tights.
Positron: Glowy bits are fun.
Back Alley Brawler: The streetwise gladiator, with a bit more armor than a tank top.
Manticore: Wears a full helmet now to protect his beautiful beautiful face from harm. (He will not have it!)
Numina: As ever, tough to improve upon what's already in-game. I do like the braids.
Synapse: I like the cockiness of the huge goggles, and the dagger pattern gives a speedy look. A little greased lightning doesn't hurt either.
Citadel: I decided, as an android, his strength and abilities don't depend on his size. So, I made him smaller, and a bit more human looking. The skin tone hints at his robotic nature, a la Data.
Well, what a fun ride, and now I'm out of entries. (There goes my space pirate theme...) -
Fourth entry...one left if I decide to use it (and I most likely will)...
For this theme, I went with the Old West...
Marshal Cole: An honest lawman...subtle use of blue suit, white shirt, red tie...
Madame Psyche: Is the purported clairvoyant a true mind-reader, or a master con artist? No one dares ask...
Doc Locke: Master gunsmith, his rifles can shoot the fleas off a dog's back at 500 yards...
John Henry White: Formerly of the 9th Cavalry, a stalwart ally of Marshal Cole...
Sir Greene: Escort (and consort) to Madame Psyche, his foppish demeanor belies the danger found at the tip of his sword...
Ghost Wind: A woman who comes and goes without making a sound, she claims a connection to the spirits of the land...
Trickrider: the maverick from the Montana territory, a master showman and ladies man...
Redoubt: The ghastliest of the crew, this living dead man walks mostly at night...mostly...
This has been a blast so far, and I wish the thank FF for starting the contest...now what to do with the last entry... -
So, time for my third entry, since my mind is still cooking. Ready? Then cue the Vapors, because we're turning Japanese!
Statesman ---> Rising Son (classic look, nice outfit, States is not the flamboyant type)
Sister Psyche ---> Harajuku (ditched the standard green for the purple and pink most commonly associated with psychic powers)
Positron ---> Pojitoron (anime inspired)
Back Alley Brawler ---> Yokozuna (tough to pull off a proper yukata with our costume bits)
Manticore ---> Oni (not the mastermind pet!)
Numina ---> White Hair (more Chinese than Japanese, but there's so much crossover between the two)
Synapse ---> Puroresu (I've always like high-flyers in wrestling)
Citadel ---> Nejiro (my toughest toon to interpret, guess I'm just not as inspired by him compared to the others)
So, I've used three of my five entries...dare I try more? -
And a second try at this. This time, I went for the gender bender, complete with new names (possible Portal discovery?)!
I've always like the alternate history type of story, so I had fun making these (and isn't this all about fun?). I'm tempted to write out full blown bios for them... -
Here's my feeble attempt at an entry.
For my attempt, Idecided to envision them as 70s superheroes. Thus, States has bright gaudy colors, Sister Psyche is a bit of a radical, Posi has a clunky look, BABs is pure soul power, Manticore is a mix of rich kid and Hawkeye, Numina is frilly and a bit hippie-ish, Synapse is punk influenced, and Citadel is a cross between the Silver Surfer and Dr Manhattan. Keep in mind that I did not grow up in the 70s and have only a vague idea of what the 70s should look like, but I wanted to stand out a bit. I also apologize for my old PC not having a very high resolution. -
Heck with that old fart. Bet he's still playing WoW, eating elf babies...

If music be the food of life, play on!
Judging by your choices and responses, I would recommend this if you don't already have it:
Midnight Soul
From the description: 'West Coast DJ Tom Thump gets the mood exactly right: On each of two discs, he hauls out the big guns first (jazz legend Roy Ayers with Erykah Badu for the trance-inducing "Everybody Loves the Sunshine" and Peter Malick with Norah Jones for the moody "New York City") then, using lesser-known artists, smoothes out an aural curtain that insists on being kept closed. Tight. This is music to rub elbows by at the chicest house party in town, or to sip martinis to with somebody you shouldn't at the titular hour—the vibe is urban hush-hush, and everybody, former club kids who have hung up their dancing shoes for apartment life especially, ought to be in on the secret.'
Originally released in 2005, so there won't be many copies in stores. Check out the samples on the Amazon page to see if you like it or not. -
