My MM gets ported all of the time in PvP and the only times I get killed are if I get ported onto mines (and that doesn't always kill me) or there are at least 4 heroes and one of them has something that will take away my ability to leap away after popping a BF should I get held or mezzed. It is really not a big deal. Why is that, because I don't spend all my time running around in BG mode!
I see way too many MM's running around in BG mode acting like that is supposed to be the only thing that they have to do. Kind of the same way the PFF guys used to run around behind their bubble sending their pets after everyone.
To me BG mode is a nice thing to help me prevent from getting one shotted by a blapper ambush and allows me to withstand that initial spine/regen scrapper assualt while the stupid animation for darkest night goes into effect.
Prior to BG mode 80% of my deaths were mid animation deaths while attempting to counter an intial attack. Now in BG mode I can at least survive long enough for the powers to kick in and then switch it up to pure aggressive or some variation of mixed and aggressive depending on how many people I am fighting and what the AT's are.
Also keep in mind, not every MM build is suited for PvP the same way not every Blaster, Scrapper, Brute or Corruptor build is either. Mine happens to be Merc/Dark with Leaping/Teleport as my travel powers.
The key to getting kills in PvP as an MM is mobility and proper delpoyment of resources, not BG mode. BG mode is just one of the tools, not a crutch.
What I'd like to see them do is give us an extra damage bonus when we have the pets in attack my target mode even if it is just for a few seconds. Even though we may be able to do the same amount of damage as a blaster over 10 seconds (which I don't think is accurate, especially when one factors in BU + AIM), most heroes don't sit still long enough to make that happen and a good percentage of my targets wind up in running away with a quarter bar of life before I can finish them off. -
RV is boring without a bounty system

Overall I think Bodyguard will help with MM survivability in PvP. That said, I'd still like to know what they are going to do about the time it takes a middle to high lvl MM to buff all the pets. The 5-10 minutes it takes to buff up all the pets is one of the main discouraging factors of why there are not more MM's in PvP. I think people can live with the deaths if they could return to action at full strength the way all of the other AT's can.

Not the kind of buff I was looking for, but useful. No more getting one shotted and I can at least live long enough to let the animation of Twilight Grasp finish once before I die.
My current PvP play style is do not stand still and avoid all melee confrontations. Unfortunately that strategy doesn't hold up very well against juiced up lvl 50 Ice/Sonic Blappers and Spine Scrappers that I have 0 chance of holding.
With this buff I can use my pets to spread the damage and use twilight grasp to keep everyone healed. It's just going to take me a while to become use to the notion of staying in a relatively confined space.
It's of practically no value to me in PvE since I barely draw agro as it is now. -
Great guide, just one note on PvP, Fearsome Stare and Petrifying Gaze are must haves if you are going to do PvP. Most Tanks and Scrappers don't pack break frees as they have some power that makes them immune to Holds or Mezzes, however this does not protect them from FG. When fighting scrappers I stack FG and darkest night on them and they are barely able to hit me while my pest chip away at their HP. The same hold true for Tanks. Plus while they are cringing in fear it gives me a chance to lay down tar patch so they can't run away on me before I can kill them.
As for PG, its more to drop toggles and gain a tactical advantage on an opponent than anything else. I always assume an opponent is packing a BF, but it's so sweet when then run out. Stalker teammates love it because it drops the hurricane of storm defenders and controllers. Plus it gives you the opportunity to hold the blaster long enough for Aim and Build-up to wear off even if they pop a break free. -
In PvP can people use Break Frees to get out of Black Hole?

Some of the best fights I've had in Sirens have been sitting just outside the hospital between the hangar exit and the jet home. Personally I do not believe in entering the hospital and attacking people while they are getting prepared, that is griefing.
When I do base camp I wait for the villains to gather their forces and come attack us. If a group of AT's can get to a particular piece of ground within a base and hold it, I don't see the harm in that. Unfortunately there are those who abuse it and take it too far by going into the hospital and attacking in there.
BTW I believe the hero bases are better defended simply because of the stalker component.
I do think some form of organized PvP base raiding would be a great idea as it would provide more organized PvP opportunities. That said, there should still be safe areas within the basse, like the hospital and spawn points. Both should be located around corners behind a couple of layers of drones and NPC's.
Drone debt is a bad idea as too many would just use it as a way to grief people. It's bad enough with the NPC's as it is. My heroes have been TP'd into mobs of NPC's and then AS'd while chasing down a fleeing stalker quite a number of times.
