  1. All the best Mr M, for the TV pilot and everything else.

Have fun, and hope to see you again at some point.

i said it should be from the beginning later on

    [/ QUOTE ]

For a start, that doesn't make sense to me.

    [ QUOTE ]
before that i said players should not be limited on enjoyment, which is exactly this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So because an AT isn't unlocked from the beginning, you're limited? There's ten to choose from. How limited can you be?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Rapthorn, Sorudo's been complaining about the inequity of unlockable VEATs since they were out (or slightly before, IIRC). He seems to be utterly sure that they should be available to everyone from the very start.

The irony is that he's surely had enough time to level a villain to 50 pre-I14, and given that MA farming can (by many accounts) get a villain from 1 up to 50 inside of 12 hours has certainly had chance to do the unlocking now.

Go into the light Sorudo, go into the light!

    <QR>

Right... Well, no idea what time my account expires tomorrow, so might as well say my final goodbye's now!

Have fun folks! Enjoy the game or whatever else you're doing, and maybe I'll be back, maybe I won't... The future is unwritten.

    *Floats off into the distance*

    [/ QUOTE ]
Unless you watch the second sequel, where it turns out the future is written, but can be delayed if you have a large enough CGI budget.

All the best FFM - we'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when. My money's on it being Millennium City, mind...
  4. [ QUOTE ]
for me a gamer should not be limited on it's enjoyment, whenever it is RP or PL, it's there choice.
i PL this time for just one simple reason, so all i like is unlocked, nothing more.
i would even delete the lvl 50 if needed to make that point, but i like that what is out of reach.
you might see it as greed, i see it as a reward for what i did and payed for.
i want to play a widow, i should be able from the start.
but because they are not gonna change that, i have no alternative then to PL.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Sorudo, you've been on the forums for over a year, so in the game that long at the very least.

If you haven't been swapping between alts all the time (which seems unlikely if none of them are what you actually want to play) it's...[u]stunning[u] that you haven't been able to get a single toon to 50 in that time.
  5. Happy Cake Bank Holiday ML!

    Have a good one!
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I also object to terms such as majority/minority - I don't believe I have suggested so far that anyone is either in a majority/minority, except to say that it seems as though everything (in Atlas at any rate) is PL! Farm!

The article on the US forums suggests that most people getting maximum reward etc are in the majority, probably. I'm sorry, where has this info come from?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I agree that terms like "majority" and "minority" don't really fit; as I see it farming vs experiencing content is more a sliding scale rather than an all or nothing thing.

At one end of the scale you have people for which content is king; as long as they were experiencing new story they wouldn't be greatly concerned if they were getting zero xp, so long as they were able to progress from one arc to the next - there probably aren't that many in this camp. At the other end there are the hardcore farmers, who want lots of xp to get to 50 as quickly as possible and don't care if they have to do a pure story-free grind to get there. Probably more of these than the pure story crowd, but still not that many; now MA's available in Atlas a lot of newcomers seem to be falling into this camp by default, as they never get chance to find out there's anything different.

In between the two extremes you get everyone else - people that like to follow the stories to a greater or lesser extent, but wouldn't mind a mild bit of farming (allotment tending?) if it doesn't take them too far out of their way. For example if you're doing paper missions as set up for a safeguard/mayhem and have a choice between Council or Rikti/Freaks, a lot of people will choose the latter for the extra xp. They're after a better (albeit a long way from maximum) reward for about the same effort, but that doesn't really make them farmers.

Morris dancing costume FTW! Ideally paired with a custom "stick" skin for Broadsword and a new "hanky" shield skin!

Wouldn't War Mace be more apropiate?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's for Captain Begorrah, my shillalagh / Drunken Idiot* scrapper

*Yes Drunken Idiot would seem harsh to Irish people everywhere if our damned PM didn't spend his trips to the EU in drunken beer sessions with the Czechs or Poles (I forget which). Way to represent our country Mr Cowen.

He's like a drunken, more unpleasent looking version of Gorden Brown, and like Gorden spent years screwing up the country as second in command to a laminated shister who bailed when he saw the Storm a-coming.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hmmmm - want to try a swapsies? I can see having a PM incapacitated through drink being a significant improvement here...

Well, with that image raised that's my plan for an trauma-free Bank Holiday weekend seriously derailed.

    Brain gouger after you, please!

I really hope they don't do their usual approach and nerf it into oblivion......

    [/ QUOTE ]

As Posi said in Pocket D the other day...

"If you feel a nerf is coming, one probably is"

Nerfing into oblivion is pretty much the only way the devs know how to deal with things. They ignore the careful approach and just go in with a chainsaw.

    [/ QUOTE ]
From experience they'll go in with a chainsaw, then a flamethrower, then Agent Orange and finally nuke it from orbit.

They tend not to limit themselves to one nerf if several successive ones (each sufficient in itself, and with significant nasty side effects, will do).

c.f. Tanker mega-herding, solved by GDN, ED and the taunt cap.

  13. Standoff

    server

No, the two sides use the exact same client (apart from occasional brief periods when one side's been updated before the other).

The critical thing's the name of the updater you use to start the client - run CohUpdater.EU.exe and you get into the EU servers, run CohUpdater.exe and you get into the US ones.

These files aren't 100.0% identical, but in practice you can copy the EU updater, rename it to be the US one (keeping it in the main game directory) and that'll do the job.
  14. Standoff

    server

I'm pretty sure you'd need to reactivate your US account to check that for yourself - EU and US accounts have completely separate server lists, and you can't access one from the other.

A little indirect, but if your US tank was in a SG and you can contact (out of game - even global chat's split between EU and US) someone else in that SG, they can check whether the tank's still in the membership list.

That said, NCSoft have never deleted toons above level 6 or so from inactive accounts, so barring an utterly bizarre database glitch your tank should still be there.
  15. That would be good if it happened, but remember that it's a 45-50 TF so the entire zone would be very grey to people on it. Other than travelling through, and maybe doing a quick "defeat 20 Council for info" as part of the TF, TF teams wouldn't be able to find anything to actually do in Boomtown.
  16. Happy Birthday Black Mage - enjoy your cakeday!

Furthermore loads of other long-term players have got bored of CoX before now and have left and returned (some loads of times) without any kind of forum drama, and they returned because the game is great.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This needs to be stressed, I take breaks from CoX all the time, mostly playing different things in parellel with it, even when I left furious at the game and for the first and only time since august 2004 I was without a CoX account, I did not make a post or drama about it. When the situation was ractified and the offending problem was solved I came back without fanfare.

I am damn sure I am not unique in this.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm starting to wonder if I know what drama and fanfare is (and, more importantly, isn't); when I made my post I made an effort to be as uncontentious as possible, thanked the devs and friends, said I'd most likely be back and wished everyone continuing fun.

Because saying goodbye to friends is what you do when you're about to leave for a while.

From responses, direct and implied, it seems I'm an attention-seeking drama queen member of a self-important clique, who's gone off to stab effigies of the hated devs and wishes the game would fail.

Sometimes a "cheers and all the best" post is exactly what it seems - no hidden agenda.
  18. All the best, pt_f - take care, and hope you're safely back in Paragon soon (non-tm)!
  19. Have a great cake, Coolio! Oh yes, and a great birthday too, of course.

    Have a good one!
  20. Actually, it's not at all clear he's leaving...he just wanted a thread about himself.

I wuv you Alvan, and my absence will only make my heart grow fonder!
