Quote:ipconfig /flushdns ftw.Guess it's DNS stuff was messed up by the sounds of it. Getting the new IP got it to refresh the DNS and gateway stuffs as well.
Just by the sounds of the problem and solution.
But given the initial problem... I would probably have fumbled around with security settings for a good bit beforehand.
Heck just the other day I had to - and I kid you not - remove (not disable) the Data Execution Prevention (change launching command line for windows in boot.ini file) on a PC because the user could not access a website. o_O
Cause -> effect, by way of Antarctica. -
I hate problems like that.
The symptoms don't point to anything directly connected to the eventual solution, so you can spend hours trying to figure it out.
Good times... -
Although The Killer might be one of those Woo movies brought to mind, here you may be thinking about the miovie Equilibrium, with Christian Bale.
There is copious usage of a close-quarters gunfighting style they name "gunkata".
But yeah, the doves effect (which will not make it to live) were a great wink to John Woo's style.
Thx again Oz for pointing me to this the other day. -

Yeah, a friend of mine joined in later on a fire tanker but you're quite right.
One of the team members got 10 levels out of the 9-11(?) PM run. I think overall about 16 levels were gained. -
Thanks Wolfie.
Funny there, Arch.
If anyone so feel inclined to share ideas, or volunteer for events, please PM me here on these boards.
More info to come, Soon™. -
Just a reminder, if you want a global channel dedicated to Protector activities but, for whatever reason, the "adult level" of Jello Shooters is a hindrance, there is Protector Vigilance.
As usual: /chan_join "Protector Vigilance"
It is moderated for language and discussion topics. Basically, it could be categorized as PG13 for those who, like me, have kids ont their accounts and would rather not stumble upon some JS matters.
It is geared towards all Protector activities and networking / socializing.
Of course, having both will probably cover any and all needs you may have, if you can go that route. -
Quote:Speaking of which, Stalemate, we need to pass off NPWN funds and recipes at your convenience.
PM sent.
And yeah - the New Player Welcoming Night was something the Praesidium supported through "financing" and running events for it starting at the 2nd edition.
I stayed involved with it from that point on except for one edition where the timing (and my own mood) weren't optimal.
Nostalgia: I think that besides NPWN and Herolympics, my favorite events were that scavenger hunt a player from another server was promoting and agreed to organize through the Praesidium for Protectorites, and the Recluse Victory raids. -

1 - So many options... but how about a fully loaded AH-64D?
2 - Indestructible - Disturbed
3 - Heh. I'm already in Canada. -

Quote:Fallout 3 worked for me. Ask your doctor if Fallout 3 is right for you.*
Side affects can include cannibalism, bloody messes, leaving grenades in others' pockets, and ghoulification.
That reminds me.
I have to get the Game of the Year edition with all the DLCs so I can...
a) not have to rely on Games For Windows less than stellar system (multiple Fallout players / user accounts on our PC)
b) stop spending more points than necessary each new release
c) play the game again entirely, aiming to remain "neutral" for those pesky achievements. -
You know, in retrospect, perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned the negative rep I received. I apologize for that.
If these people preferred to act anonymously, so be it. I shouldn't have brought attention to it. If there are critiques about PV which could help understand why the negative rep was given, please feel free to post here or PM me.
I will not repeat any more negative comments since they are worthless in regards to bettering our gamer community.
Meanwhile, we'll keep doing our best to promote / improve Protector Vigilance.
Have a great day Protector. -
Quote:Antilulz?Heh I just noticed I got negative and the mention was "not funny" which IS funny, since I wasn't trying to be funny in the first place LOL
-Kult
Do what I did - turn off rep.
It's almost as flawed and easy to abuse as the starring system for Mission Architect. See the Triumph Reputation War for a case in point.
"Say no to rep!" -
Does the Tanker Tuesday community have a website, a manifesto I could read up on?
As for playing on other servers... it very rarely happens I'm afraid.
Not because I don't like them (well, OK, I don't like Freedom and Virtue scares the crap out of me), but more because my badge hunter is here and so are pretty much all my CoH buddies. -
I've found that whenever I find the game getting a little ho-hum between issue releases that creating some sort of event helps keep the interest high.
It's been true (for me) that the players are what makes the game interesting first, content second.
So by running a themed TF, scheduling a little lowbie appreciation with the New Player Welcoming Night, or launching a crazy Shadow Shard Marathon it keeps me focused on what I like about the game: the company of other players and finding new ways to entertain them. -
I was on the last banner with Team 2 and got mapserved out when it stood at about 10% health last night.
Client decided to do a complete verification afterwards and I just couldn't be bothered to stick around while it did that since it was getting late for me. Sorry for any inconvenience.
But this was good fun, and I know the lower level tanks on the team had a rough go at handling the mobs at times, but the levels made up for it I hope.
Pep, if this is going to be a regular occurrence on Protector, I would be more than happy to help out in any way.
Thanks for the fun. -
Quote:Increase resolution to max, lower font size in game windows, reduce GUI window size too.lol... i cant even see the damn game anymore in between all my power trays/chat windows/accolade powers/attribute monitors/map/nav bar/target bar... etc.
I think my actual window for playing the game is about the size of a postage stamp.
Be careful what you wish for: the devs gave us so much QoL goodies that I cant even see the game I play anymore through all the add ons!
Yeah, I know what you mean.
I have it set to 1680x1050 on a 22" LCD and still I could use a triple display setup
Quote:S'okay, everyone knows City of Heroes is a chat program with a game attached to it...
LOL!
I've felt like that some evening - never getting around to what I wanted to do with my characters. -
It will slow down my Day Job badge progress.... but what the heck. I'm in for this tonight.

Quote:Yeah, I got 3 SG-specific global channels (perhaps a 4th coming in) and another 3-4 global channels I try to keep track of.You are challenging my channel monitoring ability and taxing my screen real estate
With PV, I am now trying to follow 5 globals plus team chat.
What I did was create more tabs (one for all SGs, another 2 for the remaining channels) and moved them all into the same chat window, but with top and bottom panes visible at all times. I can follow at least 5 channels this way depending on which tabs I have showing.
What I find hard is remembering the chat binds specific for each channel. It may be easier simply to make a common "MT" bind. -
Thought this was funny - got some negative rep again for the Protector Vigilance channel with the mention "channel will fail".
Whoever you are: the channel has grown to at least double the number of people it had when we relaunched.
And we haven't even started promoting it ingame yet!
Again: we are NOT competing with anyone, simply providing an alternate method of communications. We are NOT saying anyone else's channels are "bad". We will NOT stoop down to inventing drama where none exists. We encourage players to feel free to use whatever channels works for them.
Meanwhile, thanks for validating our efforts, and our vision of a family-friendly global channel on Protector. -
I find myself with more time to devote to server events, and this would be a fitting position.

I've wanted to participate in one of these for a while now... but Kyo will kneecap me if I miss Tuesday's TF again!.
This is a great idea.
"First in, last out" - tanker credo.
