Well we saw three of you. Maybe next time you'll get past the drones.
-
Outstanding. I've seen this in time to DO something about it.
-
Feel free to contact me for ITFs. I am overqualified.
I can bring my Crab with AoE destruction and 6 spidery robot minions or Huntsman Elmer Gorbulorp for 40% damage resistance debuffing. Both have five team buff toggles.
Global is @Squidlington. -

Not unless Ms. Liberty gets me a visa and some diplomatic immunity. -
If his actual motivation was his research, then he wouldn't have quit because of i13. There are still plenty of socially-unacceptable tactics available with which to upset your average PvPer. He's merely a troll trying to paste a pseudo-intellectual façade onto his entertainment.
But I actually do wish he would roll blueside on Virtue, and not so that I could "teach him a lesson" or something. If you get droned, you have only yourself to blame for coming within range. As for his other tactics, I think it would be an interesting challenge. -
No, because I don't listen to the FOTM crowd. Still PvPing with my Huntsman and Widow.

This is the first time it has ever occurred to me that I might want to report someone to the government of the People's Republic of China.
Hope it works. -

Great party! Wish we didn't have to wait a year for the next one.

Well if I get enough requests, I may just throw an end of summer beach party at the same place.
Afterthoughts:
It was fun and yet not fun for me, I had two instances last night of unfun damage control between friends of mine, that and trying to keep the party organized and smooth, I couldnt have much fun. I realize though the role of the organizer is not to have fun but to facilitate the fun of others. Sharing the organizing role helped in my fun factor a bit too, letting Malak, Night Widow Nyx and Xena and Mystic Blade take the reigns for awhile allowed me to have my fun, thank you.
The small cozy little beach, (which btw where Bell's rp home is) was packed with people. Some liked the larger North beach better but this little beach was better for so many reasons: Fire pit (complete with gas can), seating, a natural stage, security from ambushes is easy to maintain with pets due to choke points and low level spawns, and a nice view of sunrises over the ocean. People who didn't like how crowded it was could have easily spread out if they wanted to, the beach spreads out nicely in either direction from the stage area.
Another problem I saw was we had way too many judges for the CC's, Maybe no more then eight judges should be used.
Creating a global channel for the event helped keep it organized among the sponsors, and I made the mistake of not putting that channel into a seperate tab like I do with the VU2009 channel so I can focus either the local channels or the global channels. Local banter kept me from catching everything said on the event channel, tells too. Perhaps having tells on the event tab could help keep track of them too.
I think I will continue to ignore The Cape like I have the last few years seeing they were inflexible with me for this this and last year's event. Its my fault of course for being too spontaneous for their scheduling but still, it doesn't make me think highly of them. From what I understand, DJ Angel had a fine que of music last night that really fit with our after party.
I think about 500 million in prizes total were given out last night and I was happy to bring joy to the winners when they recieved their just rewards. That part was fun and helped make my night.
And that after party at Libertine's Haven was just plain naughty fun ^_^. Vanessa Vanity has a really nice group and an incredible base/club. I'm sure she's still looking for more entertainers and staff.
And the Sisterhood of Naughty Space Vixens got at least two new sisters last night even though I wasn't actively recruiting, we were that charming and fun. We are always looking for more to share in our fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, consider my request submitted.
I liked the locale. It didn't seem crowded to me, and if you have a standoffish character, there is a multi-story apartment building overlooking the beach with nice balconies to stand on. Sorry to hear about the internal strife, but you did a nice job of not letting it interfere with the crowd's fun.
One thing I never saw was an announcement of the existence of the global channel, so I couldn't join it. I think the only significant thing I missed was the announcement of the Mr. Beefcake finalists, so Rod just stood there sipping his mineral water.
From listening to the Cape, I get the impression that they are sometimes hard-pressed to fill their time slots. I tune in to hear one DJ and I get someone else. Or I get no one at all and just the stream. So I understand why they insist on the advance notice. I hope you reconsider and try to work with the Cape for the next one. I really wanted to request Muddy Waters' Mannish Boy for Rod Steele during Mr. Beefcake.
The prizes were outstanding, and I concur -- the Libertines have a base like a subterranean Xanadu. I would have liked to have stayed longer, but Lord "ur bad" Xad and the neverending war against Paragon City intervened. -
So Rod Steele did not win Mr. Beefcake for some reason -- no male judges, probably -- but he did gain some measure of revenge by leading his gladiators to victory in the Great Gladiator Mash.
Great party! Wish we didn't have to wait a year for the next one. -
Sounds like a lot of fun. If Rod Steele doesn't win Mr. Beefcake (to go along with his Mr. Rogue Isles Leather title), you'll know the fix was in.

It's just my judgment call. Frequency counts, not skill. I hadn't seen them at all in the PvP zones, so after reading what they did, I guessed that they were PvEers just zerging for amusement.
[/ QUOTE ]
I disagree but that's because I can play TF2 with folks who take months for breaks and come back pwning away like nobody's business. Skill > Frequency IMO. Though at the same time, skill can be irrelevant to a game that's PVP is imbalanced anyways. Now while CoX has the concept down, we know you can't just go out there do anything you want because you're 'usually' good at it otherwise.
[/ QUOTE ]
To repeat myself, I was not making a value/skill/morality/whatever judgment. When I call someone a PvPer (or a "real" PvPer), all I mean is that he PvPs fairly often. Period. That's all. -

But what you and I do is not the issue we're arguing (debates have rules, and moderators). You're contention is that the people who've set this stunt up are somehow morally inferior as PvPers, or at least thats the impression I ahd from your comments, but my argument is tht they found a winning strategy, and that there's nothing wrong with that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hell no I didn't type that. I'm all for their zerg, and I want them to do it again -- which I did type. I also suggested that they refrain from soloing until they get better characters, so that they can outnumber people like me and win.
[ QUOTE ]
Of course, you could argue if it IS a winning strategy. As you correctly point out your skills dont improve much from a lopsided fight, and even the largest guild may not always be able to gaurantee numberical superiority under all circumstances. Still, the idea that "real PvPers are the ones who only do the things I do or approve of" is fecetious. Just like all other claims of "you're not a real [gamer of some type]"
[/ QUOTE ]
"Real" PvPers are people who PvP more than once in a blue moon, and that is all. I care not at all how they do it. I don't exclude droners, base-sitters, gankers, zergers, pill-poppers, trash-talkers, newbies, any of them. The only kind I exclude is your kind, the kind that doesn't do it. -
[ QUOTE ]
I undrstnad waht yuou're saying perfeclty, and I disagree. Most of the good PvP guilds Ive ever seen work as a team; they might fight a one on one duel as an E-peen enlarger, or risk an unequal battle if some important in-game objective were at stake and they had no choice, but all things being equal, they would never enter a PvP area without a team that they believed was superior tot he opposition they believed they would encounter. We call that good strategy.
But of course, most real PvP guilds play real PvP games where there is something meaningful (in an in-game sense; not necesarilly in a broader real-life sense) to be won and lost through PvP.
In CoH where the only thing you stnad to win or loose is bragging rights, I suppose I can see that it might be different, but even if all you're playing for is fun, I dont see the entertinment value in getting pwnt. Maybe Im just too competative or take my games too seriously, but I see no reasont o show up to a fight im likely to loose.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, you take your games too seriously. You don't become competent at PvP by avoiding it. Let's wrap this up, since we are debating something I do every day and you never do. -

Yeah Syn, they brought 30 or so nubs out ALL at once to the PvP zones............and talked !%@%$ while camping the villian base.
[/ QUOTE ]
No wonder I haven't seen them. They aren't PvPers looking for fights, who would show up regardless of numbers; they're a zerg that only PvPs when they can get everyone together.
Still, I applaud your zerg. Do it more often.
[/ QUOTE ]
IM not much for the PvP in this game (more's the pitty), but showing up for a fight regardless of numbers or other gross strategic factors may make you a "real PvPer" in your book - to me, it make syou an idiot. In the immortal words of Harry Dresden, fair fights are for suckers.
Now of course, sometimes, when there's nothing of consequence on the line, a truly fair fight can be fun, and help you hone your skills. And heavens know there isn't a lot of material advantage to be won in PvP in this game (unless you count e-peen inflation). But zones never have been, and never will be places to go looking for a "fair" fight. Not in this game; not in any game ever made. If thats what you want then an Arena match is a better option.
[/ QUOTE ]
You misread my comment. I care nothing for Arena matches, which I consider to be more infamy-spending (and RMT-buying) contests than "fair" fights.
My definition of a "real (zone) PvPer" is someone who does it frequently. He doesn't wait only for the presumably rare occasion of thirty guildies all being online together and ready to go. That is more characteristic of a large PvE SG that comes to a PvP zone as a SG event. If they were people who PvP'ed often ("real PvPers"), one would encounter them in groups consisting of whomever was ready to go at the time -- very likely eight or fewer. That is what I meant by "regardless of numbers." One does not need thirty people to win all the fights in Virtue PvP zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh & you must be referring to a REAL PvP'er........such as myself!!!!

Do the Snakes have a Port Oakes neighborhood named after them?
-
I ran into some of your Unknown Heroes today, each running solo. Very brave of them. After dispatching them, I encouraged them to call their friends, but they just left the zone. Perhaps they should run in teams of three or more, at least until they get some more levels and enhancements?
-
Better pay off the Family first with some of that cash. Word on the street is that Port Oakes is theirs.
