  1. I was unimpressed with CO back when it was in CB. I saw it a bit as it developed, didn't seem to get better.

So, GR will be the next game I 'buy'... and then after that, I'll either play it or WoW until SW:TOR comes out.
  2. Ooh! Karnal is 50?? Gratz!!!

And... Cali... don't get me freakin' STARTED. There is a reason I'm living in Texas... and that is, it's waaaaaaay cheaper.

The downside? I have no social life whatsoever, and my moto is languishing in the garage because the roads out here are all too straight!

I really thought I'd never ever ever say this... but... I miss Berkeley.

... I'm feeling the need for another Sorah commission. *moths fly out of wallet* Did I say Texas was cheaper? Oh, wait, I'm still paying off my Cali bills...
  3. Yo, whassup?

And... Network Engineer? Server Admin. We'll get along JUST FIIIINE.... as long as you don't screw with the firewall!
  4. Thanks Grae. The original was by Zenvious, and then Suichiro went and tweaked it even further.

Oh. The stamp is a detail shot from Celtic-Bolt's ST render. We need to see more of his stuff around these forums, yeah?

    City of Cute...

    Yay! more cuteness!!

Oh, and, these are REALLY easy to make into transparent PNG's.

(now if only the hero skin didn't have that weird box behind the avvies.)
  6. Ok.

    Feedback.Objective:

The gradients (hero and villain) make things really odd to read. Am thinking it would be better to use a solid color for the message bodies, quoted text, et cetera.

Hero Skin - avatars STILL have that annoying grey box. I went and made a version of my City of Cute avvie that had a transparent background, and ... yeah. Come on, people, we can do better!

Villain Skin - you're using the Heroic icons for the topic lists and such! Lord Recluse is annoyed.

Images - as much as I LIKE being able to post images, I know that people will use this 'feature' to post full-screen lolcats, screencaps of their latest pwnz moment, or (the horror!) really trashy stuff from the corners of the Web that we'd rather the kids not see. And considering that I do read these forums from work, it'd be good to NOT have this stuff show up when my boss wanders by - he knows of my gaming proclivities, and so far hasn't said anything, but having something from 4chan by way of photobucket on the screen would probably upset the man. So... perhaps we can go back to only letting the community reps post images in posts?

As for sig images... I've already been 'downchecked' cos I had one that was too big for the forum width on someone's itty-bitty screen (I run at 1024 or 1600px wide, so I forget about people using iPhones and older laptops). I've since fixed it, but... yeah. At the very least, some rigorous checking of sigs for width/height issues, as well as content? Not that I want to keep Mod08 busy, but hey, it's what he's paid to do I suppose.

Let me guess... PERL script on the server?

Sadly my webhost is still stuck in the dark ages, and won't let me run that kind of thing.

Ahh... too wide, I take it? I run on a 1600x1200 resolution monitor, so I need to be mindful of those with smaller monitors.

    How's it now?
  10. I shall have to visit the D.

    With ALL of my characters.

... and then determine who's playing, by how badly their typing/rp'ing skills deteriorate during the parade.

... and there's no entry for 'succubus'. I suggest two drinks.
  11. Suichiro, that is a cool MM banner, yes.

That tie dye pattern mixed with a transparent drop shadow makes it a real PITA to edit. >.<
Holler at Zenvious for the design, I just paid him the monies. And... I like yours the best, altho Hems did a nifty job too. *yoinks*

That's just Internet negativity and counter-positioning, really.

And honestly? I give CO about the same chances for success as, say, AoC.

And Zloth, regarding your sig quote... that wasn't just "John" saying that... that was LORD John Whorfin. All others are ordinary Johns. Except for John Emdall and John Parker, who were quite cool.

Heh. It's so big I can't even see it anymore.

And to answer the question of mine being resized... here's the original from Zenvious:

As you can tell, I had to 'squash' it vertically by a considerable amount.

And yes, I do need to do some transparency masking on it, get the white background to go away.

  16. OK. This is basically a topology exercise - in 3D space, lines become curves, and vice versa.

Here's what I would do. Find the default MAT file for the boots/gloves, it should be in the same install directory. Make a copy. Then draw lines on the copy, first down the center, then to either side of the center line.

Then draw half ovals (bottom half) across that center line, start with semicircles and gradually flatten them from the top. You can use the circle tool for this.

Then save the scratch file (or export/flatten it if you're using Photoshop) and apply the new MAT to the boots in Poser.

Find the lines that most closely match "straight across" the boots, that'll be your reference.

Go back into Photoshop and erase all the semicircles that don't match, and then create more of the ones that do. Adjust as necessary.

Once you have a boot that has a 'grid' drawn on it, save that as your template file in PS, with the lines on a layer you can hide before you export/flatten to jpg.

Do the same with the glove MAT file.
  17. So what's the rules now? I may have to shrink mine (again).

Oh yah, mine is one of many Xenvious cranked out for Virtueverse members.
  18. Bayani is the consummate art collector.

And yes... I need to work on a new set of avies for these forums, now that they allow 100px^2 instead of 80px^2... also a transparent/overlay version of the banner would be a good thing.

    Hey sweet thangs!!

I've tried using both MS Paint and Photoshop, but both give the same results.
I can open texture files and alter colors, add stand alone symbols as well as bump maps - but stripes that curve with the object and join together properly just doesn't work - are there any Poser artists here who might be able to tell me what I'm doing wrong?
GAH! OK, let's try this again. Sounds like you know how to edit the MAT files, it's just a matter of getting the elements to 'tile' correctly.

I'd examine the original MAT's for clues as to how things curve, and then construct your stripes/lightning bolts/etc to curve the same way. I'd use the original V4/M4 skin MAT's as a template layer, and then do the costuming as an overlay. Then you can save it and test it, and tweak as necessary.

I've seen template files for things like the M4 Leotard, perhaps one of them can help you plan out your costume elements.
  20. Hi. I'm Soul Train, and I pretend I'm hotter, sweeter, and blacker than your coffee. Even though I'm not.

    *ahem*

I've been collecting art, discovering artists, and embarrassing the mods since 2005.

  21. I don't recall when I started hanging with the 'art crowd'.

I do know my first commish was from Poison (shame on you guys for not mentioning him!) and then after that they started rolling in. Of course, many were deemed *cough* too hot for the official forums *cough* so now I just do a two-click link to DA and leave it at that....

OH! And Zenvious. Must mention Zenvious and his BANNERS. Awesome stuff.
  22. Probably not many. The TTP factor will probably be very low.

  24. Gonna take some getting used to.

Not sure on the new user control panel / profile stuffs... we'll see.
