Came back to Infinity after not playing for a few years. There are two guys, besides myself, in my old SG that log on maybe once a week. Everyone else I've talked to has been pretty uppity and rude, if there is anyone on the server to talk to. I'm not a hard-core RP'er, though I do like to act 'In character', and add rp-flavor, such as backgrounds, to my characters. Thinking about moving here as well. Would this be a decent home, or if not, could someone recommend a server for a comic-nerd that likes to pretend he's a super-hero a few times a week?

Great Guide! Now I need to use that free respec!

Great guide, I've only been here a few months and eveyrone have been fun, helpful, and put up with my bad typing! I could use some clarifications on responses I've read to this guide and from what I've seen done around Paragon City...

When you create your character and the you are asked to create a backgruond for your toon, or even later when you pull up your ID, I wanted to say that realistically speaking when you meet someone for the first time, you aren't going to know their childhood, their traumatizing experiences, etc. I come from a text-based RPG RP setting, so that when you typed in /look *insert player name*, you got a physical description: height, approximate weight, hair color, eye color, smells, sounds, facial expressions, etc.

I kind of agree with Sora, but in all honesty I kind of flip-flop on this because I have a rather detailed bio, and have gotten a lot of compliments on it, and even replied to a topic about bios HERE . I would like my bio to be a tool to help trigger an RP storyline (as I have yet to actually engage in one, it's just been IC interaction for me) but still keep it 'comic-booky'. Is there an 'unoffical' Virtue ruling or general consesus on this?

I subscribe to the old "Local chat is for roleplay, Team and Supergroup channels are kinda-sorta, everything else most likely isn't" creed. Nobody on Global chat uses the parentheses, and for good reason; It's more oriented for players than their characters.
And please don't use them in private Tells; Just the fact that Tells are usually used for discreet, out-of-character conference should suggest that Tells are between players, not between characters...unless we're talking about telepathic communication or whispering to someone standing next to you, perhaps.

Seriously? I never knew that. But then I've had people send tells IC, OOC, with (( )), without and lord knows I'm guilty of just kind of going with whatever the heck I feel like typing in whatever channel. If I can get away with being IC with a tell, I do because what if you want to whisper to someone without the whole team or everyone and their mother hearing? Is there a preferred way I should be doing this. As a noob RP'er the thought of breaching RP ettiquete makes me feel all funny... -
We have grown some and feel this must be updated...
* Supergroup Name: Justice International
* Website (if any): http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=84737
* Leader or Recruiting Officers: Sonic Samurai and Diablo Verde
* Preferred Method of contact: send tell in-game to either of us listed above, or an ingame email to either stating your interest to join, or apply ot join on our website.
** MOTTO: Dispensing Justice from the four corners of the globe.
**DESCRIPTION: With criminals, world-beaters, and terrorists making their home in Paragon City, threatening not just the city itself but the entire world; in the interest of global peace two heroes of the international community seek to gather heroes from all over the world under their banner. We strive to make the Earth safer by halting the meta-human villainy from where it seems to originate-Paragon City, all the while being emissaries for our perspective countries and showing the citizens of this fine metropolis that they are not alone in their plight.
**Guidelines/Requirements:
* Justice International is a '4-Color Comic Book' themed Supergroup (ala The Justice League, The Avengers, etc): All prospective members must fit that theme. That being said we do not recruit anti-heroes, pimps, demons, catholic schoolgirls, etc. You must look and act like bona-fide Superhero!
* We prefer all members be at least 18 years of age: This is to keep all our members within some sort of common ground (we're all adults), to keep the maturity at an acceptable level, and to keep any incidents with indecency, and profanity from happening with any minors.
* International Heroes are encouraged but not mandatory: Stuck for a name or a look for your hero? Ethnic sounding names (i.e Diablo Verde, Sonic Samurai) are a great way to come up with something memorable and original, and we certainly welcome all Internationally based Superheroes. Don't have a bio for your character yet? Give it a more of a global spin after you join J.I.
* Our members must be active: Though we are casual players and play when we have time, it is asked that you are able to log into J.I. once every 20 days. Though we prefer that Justice International is the SG for your main hero, it is not a requirement. We will welcome your ALT as long as you are active and at least participate with the SG and help it grow.
* 'Lite' Role-PLaying is a must: This means we at least want you to act 'In Character' when you are playing your J.I. member. Occassionally speaking OOC (Out of character, usually signified by 2 brackets (( )) at the beginning and end of the dialogue) is acceptable if it is necessary to do so.
* Friendly, team-oriented, and mature players only: If you enjoy telling people how 'uber' and '133t' your hero is, we are not for you. If you are a condescending know-it-all type, we are not for you. If you make fun of others regularly,we are not for you. Get the picture? Our members are helpful, courteous, and polite. We also do not accept kill stealers, power-levelers or player who do not play in the intended 'spirit' of Heroes.
* SG Participation and Activity is a must: Your fellow members spend a lot of time thinking of SG Events for everyone to do, and doing things like posting on the forums, submitting screenshots or artwork, etc. keeps the SG active and lively. We don't ask for hard-core participation but maybe showing up for the SG-events or doing something here on the website or forum once a week is all we ask. -
* Supergroup Name: Justice International
* Website (if any): none yet-but soon, real soon...
* Leader or Recruiting Officers: Sonic Samurai and Diablo Verde
* Preferred Method of contact: send tell in-game to either of us listed above, or an ingame email to either stating your interest to join
** MOTTO: Dispensing Justice from the four corners of the globe.

**Guidelines/Requirements: We seek to recuit those who protect and uphold the law in true and superheroic fashion. Though we are an ethinically diverse group we seek to promote unity through our bravey, and heroics, which means we'd like our appearance to match our actions-so please no demons, dark anti-heroes, super-pimps, unexplainably short heroes and the like. We are not solely recruiting heroes whose names and backgrounds reflect a different nationality, but those heores are encouraged to apply and will certainly take predence over all other recruits.
We are very new and small Supergroup, so anyone looking to get in on the ground floor of a new heroic organization that will grow in size and power as you do, please feel free to apply.
((This is a lite to moderate RP group-you are expected to act IC at least. As stated we are looking for comic-book themed characters though they don't have to be of foreign origins. We are just getting started and are casual but active players, intrested mostly in PVE but will do some PvP if needed or requested. So if you're an RP'er, a comic-book fan or both and you're looking for an SG that's low level for that 'little' hero you just rolled up, we're the SG for you.)) -
The Minutemen Online
Our members are a diverse group of people that enjoy creating characters that represent the"4 Color" comic-book genre, good ole-fashioned traditional super heroes from the 70's and 80's ala the X-Men, the Avengers, The Justice League of America, etc. The whole works-spandex, capes, masks, a desire for truth, justice, and the American Way. We prefer all heroes to have a background that has a comic book type origin and that most members be familiar with the comic book genre. A cool name that somehow reflects who your hero is and what he can do (i.e. Spider-Man, Captain Ultra) is also preferred. Individuality, orginality, courtesy, as well as role-roleplaying and developing a 'character' are encouraged within our ranks and promoted throughout the server. We can be found online most evenings sometime between the hours of 5 p.m. to 11p.m.
If you have a desire to join our ranks and petition for membership, you must first read over the Group Charter , and contact the group's founder Captain Ultra and let him know you agree to the group's guidleines and terms. Or you can log onto our forum and drop off your bio and picture in our 'New Recruit Applications' forum. We also run a splinter group for ALTS and character not meeting the requirements to join the Minutemen called the 'Minutemen Task Force.'
The bonus to joining us is we are very very active for having only 12 members (we believe in fostering a close-knit community rather than just an MMO 'Guild'). We play together almost every night, we have weekly SG-Only events (the most recent was rescuing Statesman from Tyrant), and a populated forum filled with tips, fiction, and general BS, as well as a cool seperate websitethat features an image and video gallery and team roster with member bios. We encourage trading amongst
teamates, and of course teaming with your SG-Mates if they are online. We're pretty exclusive and inclusive and we don't play much with those outside our SG beyond our friends and allies-such as the All-Star Brigade.
