  1. Years ago I wrote a post about Statesman death being a great idea/plot point.
Everyone clamored that they'd never do it, and that it was dumb idea...ect.

    Suck it.
    Kiss Kiss. :P

    Praetoria at 20?

I had the option from Provost Marchand to go to Primal Earth, but it could wait.
Life doesn't have to end at 20 in Praetoria, so stop giving false information
(especially in such a rude fashion).
Now go sit in the corner, with the dunce cap on, like the bad person you are! :P
  3. Back to the OP. No more ridiculous nonsense about what defines fact and /or opinion. Dave it for private tells, or school public debates.

    Worst Brute build...Go.

    How's that for "weaker"?

  7. Well it's good he can still put his talents to the superhero community, and CO definitely needs help in the graphics ect. dept!

However, since he's went over to "the Enemy" can we fix BB's hero background profile?

He grew up in the inner city, and was a gang member, until wanted to give back to the community by joining with the PPD.
Somehow, though this character is obviously more inclined NOT to leave his neighborhood, he manages to glean info/skills from around the world to improve himself...to the point where he is super-strong and invulnerable (2nd only to States).
So, inner city thug reforms, then magically studies all kinds of special techniques all over the world to make himself more powerful then almost every other hero/villain on the planet.
Nah, it just doesn't mesh well.
I'm all for suspension of disbelief and such, but it just seems like it was't a very well thought out way to get his powers.
He needs a better explanation for how he received his powers.
Would be nice if there was a contest to update his bio.
    Just sayin...
  8. Every character I have used for TOTing has gotten costume drops, several in fact, and I usually only solo.
However, I wanted to post this in case people are making a common error.
If you have all your trays full you won't see a drop in the inventory. You have to go to your powers list, scroll down as each new power is at the bottom of the Temp list, and click on it to add it to an open spot on a tray.
If you haven't looked on your powers list, and assume it should just be in your tray inventory, then that is the common error I speak of.
Sometimes we all forget to look on the refrigerator door for the ketchup too.
    Good Luck in your searches.

Destroy it again - you have five minutes from the time it respawns to destroy the other seven turrets (three outer, four machine gun on the bunker) and get into the bunker. When there, click the ore converter and book to your scientist. (Make sure it actually *converts* the ore - you'll go from a set of six samples to a single one.)

The bunker, as you see, is another great place to be ambushed - just two single-character-sized exits. Don't waste time. Convert and go. If you click on something that says "Firebase defenses inactive," go around the pillair in the middle and click on the ore converter instead.

When you meet the scientist, he'll take the sample and give you a Shivan Shard. You now have your own pet Elite Boss Jello-tank.

I wanted to post this to say that getting the Shivan can take 10-15 minutes (MAX), and that's including all the time it takes to get the meteors. In actuality, one half of the time is spent getting the meteors. This is a speed Shivan run for soloers.

I've done both red and blue sides solo with archtypes of all ranges (including a Psi/FF controller pre-20 pets back in the day (meaning no Vet powers either, so just spectral wound and blind for damage mostly).

    In simplest terms:
-Carry as many greens as you can...(meaning no self heal, ect. We all smart here so know your build, and decide how squishy you are for yourself). I'll elaboarte why further down.

    - Fly is the best travel power to have (even with suppresion), so grab a temp fly powers if possible. SJ is fine if you are accurate in landing. SS is also fine if you are accomplished at avoind foes without notice (there are SHivans between some of the outer turrets, and we don't want to aggro them...ever.
Any fly power is best though, so make it easy and grab a temp one (or earn one..whatev works for you), to make this easiest on yourself.
My goal here is to make this easy, and fast, as possible.

-Always end your meteor gathering at the NE side of BB.
That base is usually less populated, and doesn't normally have a higher level spawn (sometimes it does, but it's been less regular then others in my experience)
So, just plot a simple half circle on the map that ends NE (5 mins tops runtime).

-Usually, an d I mean almost all the time actually, there won't be a an outer turret above yello at this base. If there is, and you don;t want the hasslle, then simply move to t the very next base to the left. It's close by, just a slight bit more annoying, visible, ect.
Anyway, even with an orange spawn the method I will propose will work just fine, and is still timely as well.

-Ok so there's two parts here.
    Part 1:
Lower all the outer canon (4) down to one hit. Three are on cliff sides, so if you find yourself taking to much damage, then simply drop to a minion free area to rest up a bit.
Though, that shouldn't regularly be needed as it's always possible to hit a turret and hide around it's blindsides too. Make sure to alway attack an outer canon on the opposite/outer side away from the base as they have inner turrets (4) that can pop up.
Make sure each outer canon is down to one hit.

    Part 2:
This is the slightly tricky part. None of the four outer canons can target/attack you when you are attacking any of the other 4 outer canons. You are out of their range.
However, as just mentioned, you are in range of the inner turrets on top of the base.
If you aggro them don't worry. Just do as I've instructed (stay on the outer side of the outer canon, and rest out of range if necessary). With some careful manuvering (which we all regularly use in PvE when avoiding harder targets, will get you thru this just fine.

-Now to lower all 4 inner turrets to one hist as well (Make sure none of the outer canons have been destroyed and they are all already down to one hit).
This is where greens may be needed.
Take every inner turret down to one hit. You can actually use the base to protect yourself, but you have to be inside (at dead center) not to be shot at from any inner turret or outer canon. They can actually shoot you through the base if you're not in the dead center.

You can also use the side of the base to avoid two inner turrtes, and all of the outer canons from tartgetting you. Just stand in the base doorway and attack the turrets nearest to it. You will only have those two turrets regularly targetting you.
If you have a decently durable too, or alot of greens (wink, wink), then simply land on the top of the base (because you did get that fly power I mentioned earlier didn't you?), and proceed to lower each inner turret down to one hit.
    Once done then its funtime.

-As soon as the last inner turret is down to one hit, then FLY, because you got that travel fly power if you don't fly already right? , to any of the outer canons (I usually pick the hardest/highest color) and destroy it. Proceed to destroy ALL the outer canons as fast as possible. Ranged attacks are very nice here if possible.
*In actuality, you could destroy any canon/turret in any method you like (as long as they are all done fast (One minute tops maybe? Not sure as it's never taken me that long to destroy them all once they are lowered).
Regardless, just keep your cool. If you blow up one by accident, and are near completion of lowering them all down to one hit, then try to still get it done ASAP. Worst case, you have to wait for the reset to start over.
    * If you accidentally destroy a canon or turret then exepct to wait about 2 minutes and start over. Unless you can destroy them all in about the same amount of time, each canon or turret that resets will be at full strength and you'll never clear them.

Move to the base and quickly dispatch all the inner turrets. Pop inside the base and grab your Shivan shard. You actually have a window here (about 2 minutes or so) where there will be no canons or turrets at the base at all.

*NOTE: If you accidentally destroyed any of the canons or turrets, still continue to low all the rest of the turrets as normal. To avoid this, when I get down to about 1/4 health on a target I start using much lower dmg options (moderate/minor powers), but it's really about knowing how much damage you can output. As you work down the first outer turret, see how much each hit is doing.

**If you have powerful enough attacks you can actually just destroy every canon/turret in succession before the reset as well.

    IMPORTANT:
While this is the speediest way to take down the base in one shot, if you need to rest a bit at each outer turret then do so. Don't die. The time saved resting is also actually still less then waiting for a reset to clear too.

Finally, I posted this because in a PvP zone, so speed is imperative. As is just getting the job done, since this is more grind then gameplay to most.
I think lowering a bases defenses (even if it's only a few canons or whatever) is counter-productive in time usage.
I'm all about the one and done here
One trip to get all the meteors
Then, one trip around the base to lower all the canons and turrets.
And, one last trip to take out all the canons and turrets.
Great guide so far though Bill.
    Hope my contribution is helpful.
  10. Seems like the buy/sell screen won't finish loading. Can't drop enhancements to sell, see what has been sold, or see any "Find" prices. Have tried on Pinn and Justice so far...anyone else?

States really left the game, or fears us.
Heroes are cool here too. Obliged.

And States has been officially pwned. TOD called. TY VM for the event.
  12. I'm wondering if alignment merits are what will be used to open the Alpha Slot. Just a thought given what Posi said in various I19 comments.
Seems like that might be a way to reward spending time as a Hero/Villain.

Or maybe the initial slot if unlocked that way and further ones are purchaseable...

  15. Same here. I left the game last night around 3-4 am-ish EST and had a full/maxed box. Had a couple Hami-Os and a few perforance shifters among the lost emails. I also could tell emails were missing (aside from the fact I only have about 5 emails in there now) is that I had two specific emails keyed for a specific character in the headliner. I was concerned the account was hacked, but its prob maintenance. I'm hoping they return my lost stuff if so.

Glad I didn;t put all the Hami-Os I had in the mail as I had 6 more I could've sent but didnt want to have to resend the stuff already out there.

Skull and Carnival masks are in the gray area for me, but most other parts are fair game for discussion.
/signed. However, that restriction shouldn't purtain to the generic minions, LTs, and Bosses. Reichsman should definitely be the only one looking like Reichsman, however we should ALL have access to the cool helmets and masks from the 5th Column.

I like the idea that if you are allowed to be a member of a group like PPD, Longbow, ect. that you can be mistaken for one by a player. That means that my character really does feel like a member.
  17. ALSO, if this could be passed on to the appropriate area of management:
Change some of the less desireable Veteran Awards to more costume options.
Personally, I could do without the useless pet that is purely asthetic (not the Buff pet...which is good for me).
Or, if not feasible to change some past rewards, then going foward they keep the idea when implementing newer veteran awards.

AND, I think there also needs to be more invention costume options. Just having a bunch of different wings, and a few boots, is almost letting a vital/viable option go to waste.
However, I'm sure there is more plans for implementation in that vein.
I just wanted to add my voice to the "yea" side for creating more costumes thru inventions.
  18. Jet packs as costume options.
I'm ware there are are temp powers available, but serve a diff purpose (and expire).
I'd like to see every possible jetpack (from all red and blue groups) individually earnable if possible.
Icon mishes (for each style) could be obtained as the player becomes the level appropriate to the NPC caste the jet pack is from.
It could be written as we are obtaining design specs for Icon from each group.

Also, Peacebringer belt sash would be cool. The PB contacts have them.
  19. Actually, I like the idea of a hireable pet (essentially).
Maybe something along the lines of earning a longbow, vanguard, PPD, RIP pet, ect. either by purchase, or completing some quest/feat..whatever. We can earn Shivans, and now there is also Invention: Back Up Radio temp power.
Maybe just varioations on the "Radio" then depending on what division we choose. Just for diversity.
  20. Wow, lot's of terrible comments.

That being siad. That last paragraph SHOULDN't have needed to be stated.
Continue to find malice in your own shadow(s). It's just dumb.

Also, Statesman doesn't HAVE to die (or even die permanently), but it is a great plot device. It's just a shame the community, in general, is aas staid/limited in vision as it's always been.
Lacking in perception. Use some reward merits to buy a clue.

And States, man IS overused. Not necessarily in actuality, but in intent. There is a shadow that tends to loom. It simply turns the rest of the group into sidekicks.
As I said. Maybe just have a disappearance as a murder/mystery tyype event.
I never stated kill him off and wipe him out.
Too many moronic doomsayers that jump to conclusions here. BTW, you can;t blame it on ADD/ADHD, because willful negligence is a chosen stupidity.

As for proving my point...how about a glance at the top of the page...who are the two icons focused next to the City of Heroes logo? Right as we read, and comment, the proof positive is there.
Statesman, and Lord Recluse are the Singular personifications of the game. I say shake it up. Mess with the players. Maybe he stays dead. Maybe he doesn't. But the event would be insane. Guaranteed. And everyone would have fun, because the idea, and how I've preliminarily explained in, is an excellent premise.
And though it wasn't stated, because so many idiots here need to repeat that B comes after A...ect.
The elementary aspects are understood. Stop with the repetition.
    It could've been a Ouroborous effect..whatever...it doesn't matter.

The community at large is a very poor representation of true comic fans of the world. Sure they act elitist, and tend to jump to every wrong conclusion for lack of actually trying to understand the correct one. And also have that faux supremist ideal that if they can;t understand it then it's not right. Sorry if I'm above many of you, but I don't just float in the clouds...I live in them. Queue the many negative/bashing comments that seem so appropo at this point.

The difference is that comic fans what the characters to grow, want the stories to change, want to shake things up to make things better. Comic fans are creative. They evolve. This community (as a whole) is holding the game back.
The very fact that it's been stated by the Devs that they don't open up TFs to solo players is because the community would whine is proof enough.

It's one thing not to agree with a person, and their ideal, and wholly another with how that response is dictated.
As proof you'll note that all my original posts have no attack, malice, ect. Only in response to said attributes do I become reactive in kind. I am a mirror. Those of you that feel offended, then go look in a mirror and fix yourselves. You use your voices for the wrong reasons.
    You fail.

And if we're removing no-longer-PS employees, we'll also have to remove Recluse, as Zeb no longer works at PS, either - having left before there *was* a Paragon Studios. We'll also probably have to remove Sunstorm (the Peacebringer contact) - nobody's heard from that dev in a long time. I'm sure there are others, as well.

In short, Statesman is Statesman. Not Jack. The guard, in game, HAS been changed - thus the signature heroes mostly standing around training everyone else. There's no reason other than personal beefs against Mr. Cryptic to "kill off" the character. And "showing they've moved on?" They've been separate long enough. Many things that weren't "doable" before are being done. That's "symbol" enough for me.

(And Nemesis... underused? You're kidding, right?)
    Sorry man, but wrong tangent.
This has nothing to do with Jack. Another person jumped on those wrong tangents.
I did mention that the change in leadership could signify a changing of the guard, but that was more of a subtle undertone at best.
In fact, I'm all for having their toons somehow in game as an homage. Just like Coyote.

It's about having a bombshell dropping event/surpise happen to a major icon.
Statesman is the biggest icon, and also the most bloated/overrused character in the 'verse. He's just not that necessary, and a great plot point would be to transition him out.

It's funny you mentoned Lord Recluse. My original idea was to see them both removed somehow, but wasn't sure if Recluse was gone, or people would complain more then having just one disappear.
It's time for a changing of the guard.
Maybe have a plot along the lines where both are removed somehow. Could even be a Ourorous TF. Maybe have some Rogue Island lieutenant and a renegade hero (have to be a major names likely) effect the cause because it turns out the world would be better w/o them? Not that they'd need to be erased from the game, or if they were it'd be striclty for in game reasons, but eventually they'd be brought back in some fashion.

Plus, seeing as how the Devs try so hard to force teaming in this game, it's amazing that Stateman and Recluse are pretty much the singular focus of eacdh alignment. The rest tend to just fade into the background with they are even remotely in the neighborhood. It's like all the other sig heroes are just LTs to the AV.
Maybe it's time to shake it up, and do things right for the next phase.
What would really be awesome would be to have Apex as the new face and Statesman/Recluse take over as the Incarnate contacts.
Apex would be a righteous choice as the new front man.
I figure Ghost Widow seems the most likely/accurate to be next in line given her ties to Arachnos/land and such.

Nemesis: Well, maybe used more accurately then. Seems they're not really definitive, and the history of Nemesis, and what they can accomplish (as well as the Crey Revenant program) still has alot of potential if done right.
Then again, there has been more inclusion. Malta still works too.

My impression is, when I read the opening post, is that is the only reason that poster wants this done. They have an axe to grind against Jack, and removing his symbol from the game is the best kick in the nads they can come up with, and every other reason is just fluff to justify the axe.

Okay. Fine. Jack Emmert has done some things that have legitimately ruined any potential good feelings a significant portion of the player-base could ever possess towards him. I don't think that our current development team is that petty.

Our current development team has not stooped to the level of lazily one-upping everything their former owners do. Our current development team, to the best of my knowledge, has only publically leveled one pot-shot at their former owners in an anniversary address.

At this stage in the game, Statesman is Statesman, regardless of who first wrote his story, and regardless of how he appears in the game. Yes, he's one big freaking Mary Sue capable of playing Frisbees with Rikti Motherships.

    Big. Freaking. Deal.

Let me ask this question as seriously as I can: Who Cares?

Statesman doesn't need to be killed for the story of Paragon City and the Rogue Isles to move forward. He doesn't need to be shoved to one side and marginalized. This isn't even touching on the gaping plot-hole of How do you kill something that plays Frisbee with a Rikti Mothership?

Statesman can't be everywhere at once, and if push comes to shove, Dr. Aeon and his writing team can just punt Statesman through a portal and into another dimension for a little while if they need him out of the way for a bit.
Whoa, get back on your meds and off the anger pills.
You assumptions are just that...and wrong. It's nothing personal, unlike how your post reads, and all about chaning the status of a past icon form the foreground to the background.
Did you even READ the OP?
Just spitballing ideas. Kindap/Disappeance..whatever. Could be a major plotline to introduce a new zone. Use a little used Enemy group...Even provide a transition to Positiron being in the forefront perhaps.

I have no ax to grind, and have enjoyed this game as my first MMO, and the best Super Hero MMO out there. In fact I rank it tied with WOW as the best MMO to date, with a few small QoL changes that still need addressing to keep soloing on par for teaming...but that's for another thread.

    Anyway,
Just an interesting idea. Change is good. And OF COURSE Statesman wouldn't sisappear. That'd be dumb. I offered alot of different ideas/variables for story ideas, and it seem you read the header and ran off on your own tangent.
ALot of people do that on here. If you can;t take the time to actually fully read the content, and digest it, chances are you'll shoot off an incorrect response to what the OP intended.

AS for asking "Who Cares?" well the answer is simple. I do. I asked because I had an idea I wanted to share.
While its all fair and balanced to have someone like you post a completely unnecessary post/comment, maybe it's better served elswhere and you should just move onto being a tool somewhere else.
Move along. Trolling goes under the bridge.

Not rally, he's still in parts of the game..in spirit, and should always be part of the game.
That's more of a subtle transition, since Cryptic is no longer with CoX.
It;s really about the marquee figurehead changing, or being the catalystic plot point for some future content.
It could even involve the moon zone, or whatever's on the docket.

Put him in the background for somethings. It's can be symbolic of the ever-changing growth of the character developments if symbolism is needed.
