Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Don't take MoG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(no, it drops you to a set % of your total HP. The amount can be buffed by using Dull Pain before MoG)
Do NOT use MoG if you're planning on taking 'Falling' damage, fighting Psi or toxic damage mobs, taking autohit damage (caltrops etc.) or fighting NRG blasters with Aim/BuildUp/PowerBoost in PvP.
If memory serves it's a LARGE +defence buff and considerable +res buff which lasts for about 3 mins, disables all regeneration and healing effects on you (which admittedly can be fun for panicing empaths) and you can NOT turn it off when it's on. No matter how much you want to.
I never took it, and Never ever ever ever plan on taking it ever.
...Unless the devs actually DO swap it with Force of Nature, which would be a joy for everyone concerned!

Some interesting reads in the links in this thread, thanks Mael, but I think that most people seem to have overlooked one possible solution to the MoG love/hate relationship: simply make it a toggle rather than a clicky. This would mean the power functions identically, with the same recharge and 15sec -regen after it's "turned off", and it would be more in line with Hibernate as a final-tier power as far as panic buttons go. -
As Shannon says, Hibernate is a great power that can be instantly smashed on when you think you are in trouble or you just need to replenish some endurance near the end of a fight - it is up pretty fast with 3 recharges. As an ice/ice you will basically be made entirely of aggro, but throwing out a taunt before you hibernate ensures further safety for your team as the enemies flap about on your ice patch and continue to hate you with a 2-taunt-enhancers chilling embrace. Yummy.
I chose not to take frozen aura as later on in the game AOEs are rife thanks to ice's unbeatable aggro management, and if you are running icicles the critters will immediately wake up anyway. It is easily one of the worst final tier powers for a tanker melee set purely as it has such little practical application. However, there may be one or two people out there who like it so good luck to them.
Build-up: I took this in my mid-30s to help make sure that my holds and debuffs hit bigger beasties. Even though Ice Melee does pretty laughable damage, BU really helps you keep tightly packed mobs under control with Frost, and the damage soon adds up with Icicles. You can also execute a Paragon Protector with Greater Ice Sword just before he/she pops MoG/Elude/Stoppable.
If you would like me to post my icy slag's build, let me know - but at the end of the day, remember this: purple pills are your friendOh and fortitude or bubbles don't go amiss either ;D

Sorry to dig up an oldish thread, but this caught my eye and confused me:

But as of just before i7, you can now slot all your forms inherent's (such as dwarf mire or nova emanation) from level 1. So if you only put slots in that to get to your forms, there's no need anymore.

I didn't notice this when I started my WS so slotted some of the stepping-stone powers before access to the forms. As I haven't got a respec handy on the WS, I rolled a PB to test out whether slotting the forms was possible at level 3. There is no option to do this here either, so I am missing out on something or have I misread Shnyet's words? -
One aspect of Cloak of Fear and Oppressive Gloom that doesn't seem to get mentioned in the excellent guides found on the US forums is that of their relative mags: I was very disappointed to discover that neither power can affect LTs or above unless someone else affects that mob with the same effect or fear or stun respectively.
This leads me to question whether such effects stack on themselves, as neither power affects LTs even when I was testing them against low-level mobs in Perez.
I can understand that the mags may be too extreme if they affected LTs immediately but surely they should eventually stack? -
Hi folk,
Just a quick question, how low on health do you need to be for the passive SR powers' resistances to kick in? Also, what %resist do they offer per passive?
Thanks,
Soapy -
With 3 or more toggles running on my DA scrapper, I get horrendous frame rates when the toon takes up the entire screen, which usually occurs as a result of the camera being pushed forward by some level geometry. Would installing a little DA graphics mod be against the EULA, and if not can anyone recommend one in particular?
Performance is fine when I use my default camera view (which is zoomed out fully) but I imagine that the multiple DA alpha textures are too much for my little X800XT to handle when they take up the entire screen
