To be clear: the code for sharing costume pieces between City of Heroes and City of Villains is NOT yet in...heck, it isn't even written yet. BUT we'll do it after release - hopefully very soon after release. Then heroes can have access to the new options.

To be honest, this idea came specifically from this thread. Since people wanted the new costume options, I checked with Software - who said it could be done. Just wanted to let you know that yes, we do take suggestions!

FYI - for those who don't like the idea because villains should look different than heroes - remember that villains already have hero options. They can create a character identical to one that exists in City of Heroes.

Your FYI was the dumbest excuse possible to justify this change. It was your mistake to put all the hero costume options in CoV. And now you are going to use that mistake to justify the mistake of putting all the villain options in CoH? That's just ludicrous.

The option being added isn't hurting anyone. If the new costume features don't appeal to you for your heroes, simply don't use them. Your choices are not being limited and your ability to craft the toon that you want is not hindered. So...what's the problem exactly?

I HATE that line of thought. So we should be ok if they decided to add tutus, strawberry shortcake hats, troll heads, and light sabers just because we don't have to use them? There is an integrity that goes to the game. Most of us picked up City of Heroes to play in exactly that, a City of Heroes. And vice versa with CoV.

If I wanted to play a mmorpg just for the sake of playing a mmorpg, I would play something else. I play CoH, and soon to be CoV, for a reason. For the genres and factions they each embrace. As we combine the two, we lose what makes each unique. Sure I can choose to make the only heroic looking hero in CoH while everyone else wants to look like retarded ninja zombies. But I've got to interact with those people. And if I wanted to just solo, I wouldn't be playing a mmorpg. I play this for the heroes to team up with other heroes. I don't want to team with villains(in CoH), elves, jedis, or care bears. If you can't understand the need and desire for a separation of genres and factions in the game, then you're just dense.

And my post wasn't even attacking the option of CoV pieces in CoH as much as it was attacking Statesman's flawed logic. The people that don't want the truly villianous pieces in CoH don't want the heroic pieces in CoV either. The big cheesy grin should not be a villain face. Nor cute widdle pandas on the shoulder. His logic for the addition of the pieces to CoH was utterly stupid.

The reason, and I'll bet money on it, that they are doing it is that you need to buy CoV to get access to the pieces. And this will get people who normally wouldn't buy CoV to buy it just to add costume options in CoH. It's about increasing sales. Which I get and I understand. I'd rather read that as a reason that the statement "Uh we did it cuz we did it in CoV too, hur".

Ooo we're sensative on the boards lately. I'm afraid your dislike of teaming with people that play for reasons that differ from yours that may culminate in a hero theme or costume you consider ludicrious amount to absolutely nothing. With that attitude, you're limiting other peoples play experiance and judging or defining their personal opinions.

Yes there is a desire for seperate genres and factions in all MMO's. That is why there are guilds/sg's/battalions/etc. where you can team with like minded individuals. I sincerely hope you're not suggesting that the gaming industry shun those that would have a desire to play in a way that would be considered "off" by the majority of the player base. And if Joe Smith in Golden Road, Arkansas wants to play as a tutu wearing jedi troll in a stawberry shortcake hat then that's his business. Don't like it? Don't play with him.

Interesting but stupid? That sounds like a brilliant story arch title..

  4. Reading Lore's post I found myself, for the first time in any forum, literally reading with my mouth open wondering what planet this guy was from. Not that we shouldn't all appreciate someone taking the time to post information, however, the information left should be accurate and posted in a format that is easy to read, understand, and comprehend. Lore's post is none of these as much of the information is just plain wrong.

Screw, imaginary stars for you my friend. Very nice guide. And thank you very much for taking the time to help the /DA community. I shall be using it often and putting it up on my SG site. Cheers.
  5. Some changes as of late so time to post an update.

    SG Name: The Crimson Sun

    SG Leaders: Smoke Signal, Electraflame

SG Website (if any): www.thecrimsonsun.net (Under Construction but functional )

SG Recruiters: The application option on our homepage is being re-done. Once it's completed you can submit an application there and a recruiter will contact you in game. Until it's back up you can send an in game message to Smoke Signal (global @SmokeSignal) or Electraflame (global @Electraflame) regarding possible membership.

Teamspeak/Ventrillo Server: We have a dedicated TS server. New members will be provided with the login information.

SG Peak Hours: We have members from all over the US and in other countries around the world. However, most people are on in the evenings (EST).

Other Info: We are a laid back SG whose main focus is just getting together to have a good time. We have weekly events of all kinds, are active in game and on our forums, and we communicate in TS most every day. We have recently revamped some of our rules and guidelines and lowered the inactivity limit from 30 days to 20. We are spread over 3 SG's and have plenty of roster space available. The Crimson Sun allows for our "main". The Crimson Sun Deux holds up to 3 of our bench players and The Crimson Sun Elite houses all of our level 50 players and kheldians (kheldian SG coming soon as we're closing in on the max roster size with 50's). Our requirements are modest and mostly common sense. There are no specific necessary attributes for membership. Any AT, Origin, and character concept are accepted. We only ask that you are a courteous active player that acknowledges the importance of respect for the game, the game's players, and your SG teammates.

You can contact me globally on @SmokeSignal anytime. If you send an ingame email to Smoke Signal I will respond as quickly as possible, but please understand that I have many alts and that it could take several days for me to receive an email on that character. The same goes for Electraflame. See you in game!
  6. His information was dead wrong as that is not how it works at all. Most of the people here kill me. They introduce a new unselected, unchosen, unslottable power that you never have to worry about if you don't want to, and all they can do is complain about how they don't like it. IT DOESN'T DO ANYTHING NEGATIVE TO YOU! Just don't worry about it. If it kicks in and helps you...great! If it doesn't help you...well you were no worse off before. I have several high level blasters and have zero problems in the post 30 game. For everyone complaining that they die every 2 seconds, get one shotted, or are chain mezzed all day long...I don't know what to tell you. Try some tactics. And for those saying to dump this power off on scrappers..it sounds like you're trying to play as scrappers anyway so I suggest dumping your blaster now before it's too late and rolling yourself a scrapper. I mean..they're getting new melee powers soon anyway so it won't be long before you have something else to complain about.
