  1. Aw, geez, now you made me dig out something I thought I'd forgotten.

    Radiation Melee

Your character can utilize the power of various particles and rays to damage his foes. They have varying secondary effects, depending upon the radiation summoned.

1 - Photon Strike: Harnessing the power of light particles, you quickly strike your foe. Photons are hard to evade, and thus bypass some of a foes' Defense. Damage: Minor (Energy), Recharge: Fast
2 - Gamma Punch: You emit gamma radiation from your hands as you punch the enemy. This energy debilitates the foe as it wears off, reducing his ability to heal for a short time. Damage: Moderate (Energy), Recharge: Moderate
3 - Alpha Blast: A short range cone attack as waves of alpha particles emanate from your hands. These particles cause weakness, slightly reducing the damage output of the targets. Damage: Moderate, Recharge: Slow
4 - Concentrated Light: By exerting your powers to a wider area, you can cause the target and those near him to only be able to see you. [This is Taunt, just renamed to be in keeping with the set. ] Recharge: Moderate
5 - Infrared Punch: By focusing infrared photons, you set the target on fire, which keeps them taking damage for a short time. While burning (and for a short time thereafter), the target is unable to recover Endurance due to the pain. Damage: High (DoT), Recharge: Long
6 - Graviton Burst: You emit a burst of gravitons, causing enemies around you to become heavier. This slows their movement and attacks until the gravitons wear off. Recharge: Long
7 - X-Ray Laser Eye: You emit coherent beams of X-Rays from your eyes, causing damage to your target and reducing his damage resistance for a short time. Damage: High, Recharge: Slow
8 - Breeder: By concentrating for a few seconds, you absorb ambient radiation and use it to boost your ability to cause damage and slightly increase your accuracy. Recharge: Very Long
9 - Cosmic Strike: You focus cosmic rays through your very being and smite your foe with them in the form of an overhead smash. The target and nearby foes may be blinded by the secondary radiation as the cosmic rays lose their energy. Damage: Extreme, Recharge: Long

    Radiation Aura

1 - Photon Shell: A visible-light aura that makes it hard to see precisely where the user is. While this does provide some Defense, it does not provide any Stealth as the user is glowing like a light bulb. Click power; Defense is higher against melee than against ranged. Recharge: Long
2 - Debilitating Aura: This toggle power allows the user to emit waves of weakening radiation, reducing the damage of any enemies in melee range. Recharge: Long
3 - Radiant Aura: The user can heal himself and nearby allies by an emission of radiation. Recharge: Long
4 - Kinetic Aura: This toggle power lets the user 'steal' energy from incoming attacks which have a kinetic component. This provides some damage reduction against smashing and lethal attacks. Stolen energy is used to deflect effects that would immobilize, hold, disorient, sleep or cause knockback/down. Recharge: Long
5 - Electron Absorption: This passive power provides damage reduction from energy and fire attacks.
6 - Proton Absorption: This passive power provides damage reduction from negative energy, cold, and toxic attacks.
7 - Photon Aura: This toggle power is a visible light aura similar to Photon Shell, but more intense and diffuse. This provides better Defense than Photon Shell, and is equally effective against melee and ranged attacks. Recharge: Long
8 - Replenishment: When you have been defeated, you can use your internal energies to restore you as good as new - better, in fact. For a short time after you revive, your damage, endurance recovery, health regeneration, and recharge rates are improved. When these effects wear off, however, you will lose endurance and the ability to recover it for a short time. [Sort of a 'self-Mutation', if you will.] Recharge: Very Long
9 - Entropy: You absorb all the energy in a moderate area, causing damage to your enemies and suppressing their ability to heal and recover endurance. This extra energy boosts your Defense as you glow like the sun, and increases your damage resistance to all types of damage except psionics as well. In addition, the sudden infusion of energy moderately increases your endurance recovery and damage. However, this power does not come without a price: when the stolen energy finally dissipates, it takes most of your health and endurance with it. Damage: Moderate PBAoE, Recharge: Very Long

Ah - one more thing. We're adding a new Inspiration that you can use to wake up from Sleep, Stun, Hold & Immobilize.

Statesman - FWIW, I'd rather see more defender/controller types have access to Clear Mind, or a similar ability, than to create these inspirations. I fear that these will only help discourage grouping.

    I completely agree!

But we should make sure that these new powers fit in with the spirit of the powersets. Also, we should consider making them all work slightly differently, so they don't look like a cut-and-paste of Clear Mind. I have a few ideas for these new powers, consider my suggestions below.

Often when someone is slept or stunned, their toggles drop and they take damage. You could give the Storm Summoning line a power that clears/resists sleep and stun plus heals some damage. Call it something like "O2 Boost."

Kinetics power line already has a timed buff. Why not add another one, something kineticy like "Increase Density." You could have it resist Hold and Stun, plus Knockback as an added bonus.

Radiation Emission tends to have area effects. Why not give them a PBAE buff that resists Hold, Stun, and Sleep. Maybe even throw in some bonuses to damage and resistances while you are at it. I recommend "Accelerate Metabolism" as a good name that would fit the theme.

The Force Field powers focus on, well, force fields. You could give them a really big forcefield that protects the whole group from Hold, Stun, and Sleep. Give it a name like Dispersion Field or "Dispersion Bubble."

Lastly, you should give something extra special to the Dark Defenders, since everyone has been so down on them and there have been problems with their powers in the past. Psionic resistance is very rare in the game, and many status effects come from Psionic attacks. How about a group buff that gives resistance to Psionic, Energy, and Negative Energy? This would not only reduce the length of all status effects from those types of attacks, but it would reduce the damage taken too! To make it fit the dark theme, you should add a side-effect like stealth or something, if that's not too overpowered. Give it a really cool evil name like "Shadow Fall."

I really hope the Devs take my suggestions seriously. If we don't give all defenders a way to prevent or resist status effects some groups might start only accepting Empathy Defenders, and we know what a waste that would be. I want to see these new powers added as soon as possible.

I realize that you're sarcastically trying to point out that these do already exist - and a fine job you did of it - but I have to correct you on a small point of fact.

Accelerate Metabolism provides status resistance, increased damage, increased movement speed, increased endurance regeneration, and reduced recharge times; it does not affect damage resistance at all.

Thank you for noticing that all Defenders do have status effects amelioration, however.

And I'm not impressed with the anime-styling of the new Teen Titans show, either.

Got to go with Bladewraith here. While I soloed the Rikti boss with my scrapper first time, but I wouldn't even attempt with my Defender.

My defender has run into a few situations where she couldn't split 2 orange bosses and because they some sort of healing power (like Freakshow) couldn't wear one of them down either. So I went outside asked if someone could help me defeat a couple bosses to finish mission (or a couple times to defuse bomb at same time as me) and so far I haven't been disappointed, someone has always agreed to help.

Of course then you need to make the commitment that when you hear someone ask for help finishing a mission, you go help them if at all possible. If everyone is willing to help this kind of thing becomes a non-issue.

Heck as a controller I would put out a request "Controler seeking partner/group to help with missions." What Controlers are missing solo they more than make up for duo or better. You may not get through a mission as fast with a Controler/whatever duo but you are much more likely to get through alive.

IMO Controlers and Empaths are great toons....for someone else in group to be.

What kind of Defender are you playing? I can solo reds - minions, lieutenants, or bosses - with my Rad/Rad, and have been able to for some time. Currently level 32, should hit 33 in the next couple of days. Granted, I use 'divide and conquer' almost exclusively, and am pretty good at single pulls, but I'd think most Defender builds could duplicate my technique.

Well, I saw barrels floating two or three feet above the water in Independence Port yesterday. I am sure it has something to do with this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I sent a bug report in for this 3 weeks ago. They still have not fixed it? Odd. There are about 8-10 barrels just hanging in mid air.
