  1. Lol. Who monitors hit rolls? It's not that hard. Either way, slotting the placate proc in a team build psi/em is pretty pointless unless you could seven slot willdom.
  2. What are your in-game Globals?: @Detective Silit
What are your PvP characters?: Psi/Em, Son/Kin, Elec/Wp
Which of these characters are on Freedom? (This may not be too important at first, if the ladder starts on Test): All of them
Are you willing to respec into a better PvP build?: Probably
Are you willing to roll a new character if needed?: Maybe.
Do you have a mic?: Yes.
What is your general day/time availability?: Flexible, generally busy on weekends
Briefly describe your PvP experience: TPM, BPAP, UTBG

I was referring to people that are totally new, are terribad etc. I wasn't saying those people didn't get to play at all. I said their play time was limited and very situational based on who the matches were against or how the previous match went. That more often than not someone terribad or brand new to pvp or the game would get very little actual match time if any. Either way though because my teams were garbage as I said you would say, you must be right.

All of you arguing so strongly against other conflicting events while the ladder is stabilizing or claiming that the ladder was noob/terribad friendly and welcoming to new pvprs....I sure do hope to see those open arms to the new pvpr's/terribad pvprs when the opportunity arises.
If you are getting benched on a team: Make your own team, join another team, or get better.

If you are a team captain: Don't just recruit people who you are going to bench no matter what.

At the least, make a notation that such a tactic can/will result in a nullification of the match results and a replay of the match until it is done so legitimately.

And on the note of how line-ups should be submitted. I don't really care. Counter-picking is really boring and is nowhere near as strategic or exciting as barrier makes it out to seem.

Edit: Add a rule that allows for the OPTION of a 20 minute official if both teams agree to it. While I'm sure plenty will say now that such a rule is unnecessary, it'd be nice to at least have. I know I personally asked practically every team that we challenged/fought on the ladder to do a 20 minute match before agreeing to 10. Plus it'd be nice to see a 20 minute official again, but that's me.
Naturally, I agree with everything my colleague just said.

I think it's important to have a rule that prevents the above-mentioned tactic of having your entire team minus the stalkers quit a match after getting one kill. I thought about it earlier but nothing comprehensive came to mind. Any ideas?
  5. A placate proc in a psi/em is a waste unless you are zoning/1v1ing.
  6. HP made a good point about "barcode" teams as well. We should be sure to include something like that.

As for running multiple major PvP venues at the same time: True, the TPvPL, IPvPL, FPvPL (the old pentad one) and a few others were run at the same time as the test ladder. However, the test ladder was already established and in no real danger of being completely overtaken by other events. We should wait until we have a stable ladder before we do anything else major.
  7. I'm sure all of us can name plenty of good stalkers, but the rules regarding stalkers had nothing to do with stalkers being good/bad, or even ASing at all for that matter.

Nah, it was completely my fault. I got plain unlucky at one point when they accidentally wormholed me right as an orange dropped, but other than that it was on me.

I made up for it though by making an entire team quit, though, and getting us an extra win in doing so.
  9. It has nothing to do with delaying start times, at all. Even if the start time is completely in stone it doesn't prevent counter picking. Understanding lineups and countering is one thing. But counter picking is retarded because of one simple fact: One of two teams will always get the last picks.

I'm not a huge fan of lineup submission either, but I fail to see the problem with it, as long as someone is there to take lineups. I honestly don't care all that much either way, but I lean toward liking double blind submission, since it completely prevents post-entrance counter picking - which by the way takes no skill whatsoever, and requires little (if any) knowledge of game dynamics. "They have stalkers, bring a fort!" What an ingenious tactical move!

Also, you having the opinion that something is a terrible idea doesn't actually make it one. It's your opinion. In the end, it really doesn't matter because it's clearly not going to happen.
An idea that would result in 60% of the already tiny PvP community refusing to play sounds pretty terrible to me.

Enforcing match start times has absolutely nothing to do with counter picking.
  12. Conflict and Coronaviradae have both expressed interest in forming teams, so that helps.
  13. What Reaver said. It's not an ego thing at all. We play with people who we like to play with. I can guarantee you that my team would quit the game instantly if we were forced to split up.

Not to mention, all splitting up good teams would do is make a bunch of mediocre teams, rather than some good teams/some decent teams/some less decent teams. The whole point of doing a ladder over a league is to make for a more casual experience and allow people to play where they want, when they want.

psssshswrrrrrsssshhhhh sorry you're breaking up pshrrrwwwwrrrsssshh lots of static i can't hear you.
  17. I'd like to point out once again that our team was the only one with no internal drama.
  18. I too think the pros of test outweigh the cons. Keep in mind, we'd still play on live servers and people would see us play, and freedom could be used as the fall-back server.

My biggest worry about test is getting people on to test. That can be solved by pointing people in the right direction via the free-agent thread(s) or any other advertising threads.
  19. Most viewed thread in CoH history. TGFTG.
  20. Everything Vinnie and Vert said.
  21. We may need to do some serious people wrangling, but after that things should hold for themselves. There are some groups of players that have a solid core foundation of four or five that can be motivated to go out and get a team together.

We just have to push it along, unfortunate as that may be.
