  1. In Nevada, it's illegal to drive a camel on the highway.

    ....I don't get it either.....
  2. About a year and a half ago, an on-line friend I had from playing another game suggested this game to me and offered a 14 day free trial. I accepted the trial and began to play around. I made a few different characters to play around with, not really having a clue as to what I was doing, but I did have fun. One character that stands out was an Energy Melee / Fire Armor tank I made named Bull Head (had the larger of the horns at the time on, looked rather silly actually heh) and played to level 6 I think. Then messed around with some other character and finally made a Stone Armor / Stone Melee tank which I really enjoyed.

Once the trial was over, I decided to buy the game (1st pay to play game I've played) and eventually ended up re-rolling my tank for a costume I liked more. My tank and the scrapper I ended up making a little later can be found here. I've had a lot of fun with these characters but haven't gotten to 50 yet.
This is one reason I love the game. After completing a mission in Synape's TF, we were welcomed by this lovely fellow.
Here are a few other shots of Stone Clad Giant, my tank, in various missions bashing away with his Stone Mallets.
  3. Ugh!

I had a hard time deciphering what you were saying in the first few there, but the others were pretty funny. Oh yeah, no clue what that title says.
  4. Thanks War_Sage for your response. Yep, that helped a lot with my Rage/Accuracy questions. I plan to fight on either the highest or 2nd highest difficulty at some point, so I think I'll keep at least one Accuracy SO in my attacks, possibly two, I'm not sure. Sounds good about Rage, I haven't experienced it yet, but sounds like it shouldn't be too bad to overcome.

    Thanks again!
  5. I liked the guide, some nice points in there. The build I used on my SS/ELA brute is some what similar. I did take Jab in my build and am now wishing I replaced that with Air Superiority. I made this character in I7 after the free respec was issued, so I won't be able to change this character around anytime soon as I usually don't have enough time to run a full Task Force/Strike Force/Respec Trail these days.

About your attack power slotting, do you think that the Rage To Hit buff is enough to cover your accuracy? What difficulty level do you play on (basically what mob levels are you seeing)? I currently have 2 accuracy enhancements in my attacks but do not have Rage yet at lvl 22. Once I get Rage going, I was thinking of dropping one accuracy for a different flavor. Also, when you're in Rage crash, can you hit anything seeing as you have no accuracies in your attacks, or do you just wait until you can get Rage up again?

I really like the fact that Brutes are fast paced, it adds excitement and I didn't want to wait for Rage each time if I can avoid that.
  6. Here is my mastermind, Nueronic Splice. He is still only level 6 and I haven't written his bio yet, but he is directly related to my brute, Dreadstar. Nueronic Splice created Dreadstar and 2 other robots for a contract and all hell broke loose. Longbow is under the impression that the Doctor (later to be known as Nueronic Splice) was killed during the activation of Dreadstar. You can check out my brute’s bio in my signature if you’re interested.
  7. My main is Dreadstar, which is an EM/EA Brute, then I have Lord Obsidian Flame, which is a DM/FA brute I'm messing around with.

You can see other photos and the bios for them in my signature if you're interested.
  8. I enjoyed the video very much. I haven't tried PvP at all in CoH/CoV yet, but your philosophy reminds me of my PvP days in Diablo II way back when where we would not allow the use of potions.

    Anyway, very cool watch!
  9. Check the 18th post of this guide, Roxstar posted a few builds.
  10. That's a very different build. Do you find Tough and Weave are necessary? Also, how is your running speed with only one slot in Swift or do you just use Teleport at all times when in Rooted/Granite? I tend to toggle Rooted on/off when in combat or not, but try not to turn off Granite if I'm teaming with mods higher than I am. Just curious.
  11. Loving Energy Cloak myself! While in Sharkhead, I used EC for the paper missions that required to get some fella and his guards. Took only a few minutes to complete them as I just ran to the end and gained a ton of experience. Works very well!
  12. I just hit 38 the other day with my stoner and I was so excited to get SS! I immediately ran to a group of Council and first swung my Heavy Mallet at him (3 damage enhancements) and did about 278 damage. I then bashed that same council good with my newly aquired SS (ZERO damage enhancements) and did 207 damage!!! and also took about 1/6 of my endurance meter So when that skill is slotted up correctly, it's gonna be so much fun!

On a side note, it looked like the guys I hit were being disoriented (same as being held?) as they had the same animation above thier heads as when I hit them with Stone Fist or Fault.

Another side note, when you hit with SS and there is that graphic effect that moves out in a circular pattern from the impact zone outward (simialr to what Tremor looks like), is there some type of AoE there? or is that purely for looks?
  13. It would be nice to eliminate having two travel powers. I use that simple bind that lets me just hold down the left shift button and just keep clicking to teleport around. It's really simple and I can get around fast but I really just like to jump around still Something else to think about I guess.
  14. Interesting take on Build Up Brass, that sounds pretty cool. There are times when the extra damage and accuracy would be nice, but with the limited number of powers we can choose, it sure is tough to decide!

I just got Tremor slotted up with 1 accuracy, 1 recharge and 2 damage enhancements and that skill is really shaping up (making getting my firefighter badges easier and quicker too! )

Question for you Neo: So I'm guessing Mud Pots is counting as an attack and will free everyone in it's AoE when using Salt Crystals, is that why you suggest not having MP active? So my next question would be, how useful is Mud Pots then after you can use Salt Crystals?
  15. Build Up - I started out using it, but respec'd out of it. I felt that the recharge was way too long when in Granite and when I use Rock Armor, I felt I really didn't need it.

Teleport - I don't mind it as a travel power, but only use it when I'm in Granite. I can't see not having it when in Granite. Depending on the group I'm with, I'll just TP right in the middle of the mob set off Fault and/or Tremor and let the mallet bashing begin. It's also nice to TP up and down floors instead of using stairs or TP over to a mate in trouble.

Fault - This is one of my favorite powers in the set. I read a post from someone else last week sometime that also didn't like Fault and it really surprises me. I have mine loaded up with 2 accuracy, 2 disorient, 1 recharge and 1 end red, just as this guide states. I really never miss if I'm dealing with mobs that are as high as +2s and 3s, nice disorient duration and they get knocked down. I love it!

Epics - For my concept, I am going with Earth Mastery no question. I would like to hear what others say about some of those skills though.

I went with Super Jump as well to use as my real traveling power. It was more for concept, but I really like it as a traveling power. Being able to jump from building top to building top is just awesome.

Oh and I agree with you 5million percent that Kenetics is just amazing for a stone tanker. I team up with one frequently who is great. His speed boost, Fulcrum Shift and Syphon Power? is just the greatest combo. Normally I would be hitting a foe for say 115 damage, but then with the damage buffs, I hit for 250-300, which is really good for me! Not to mention the fact that my endurance bar never moves when I'm fightning non-stop. I also team up with a troller that has the Force Field secondary, so my defenses just go through the roof!
  16. Well, I took the advise you guys gave to me and took Rock Skin at level 18. I haven't gotten Health yet, so I'll be a little behind on that and Stamina, but I'm sure I'll get by. I did take Build Up though and I'm not impressed with that at all. I'm not sure how the respecifications work, but I'll get rid of that if I can.

I saw the first Stone/Stone tanker on Triumph yesterday that had Granite running and boy does that look cool! So far so good with this guy though, I'm really enjoying him.
  17. Ok new guy question here.... I have general question about Hasten. I planned on getting that power with hopes that it would counter act the regeneration penalty that Granite gives. You mentioned "ED" and not being able to obtain a perma-hasten anylonger. What is this "ED"?

    As for my Stone/Stone tanker..
I decided to skip Stone Skin and just went with Rock Armor. I was figuring that it would be overkill by the time I got Granite, was that not a wise choice? I have Brimestone armor now too that I've found to be helpful working in the Hollows and meeting up with Outcasts such as Match and then those fellas that pop up from the ground and hurl stuff at you and hold you to the ground in lava.

Anyway, Stone/Stone has been a lot of fun (only 16 right now, so I still have a lot to learn/do). I'm used to not doing as much damage as other characters as I've always played the Barbarian/Warrior class in other games, which serve mostly as tanks instead of damage dealers.

I enjoyed the guide, good stuff!
