Quote:Okie but just before we get to that point.Again, no offense, but then it may be best to stop making such claims, if they can't be supported.
But, as I stated earlier, there is the possibility of copying over to test server and running herostats for the course of an ITF or something, then exporting the data. You'd get a fair idea as to who and which power is contributing what, so far as the damage contribution goes. Set up and agree on the criteria, and move from there.
8 fire/fire blasters IT vs 8 fire/rad ITF
level 50 io's only no sets, no purples to make the comparisons fair.
Who do you think will finish faster and easier....
Now there might be a weird point of 6 cor's and 2 blasters that might finish fastest, but in general my guess would be the more Corruptors in the team, the faster it finishes. -
Look I can get the numbers for Blaster, defender and cor Archery set since all 3 have acess, compare them.
Blasters will do more
I can apply the buffs from say RAD and apply Assault, and Blasters would still do more.
Then apply it to a team of 8 cor's vs 8 blasters and Cor's would do more, but this is unrealistic.
But without dataming to show what the real game effect of this is, its meaningless and it leaves us with subjective evidence.
That leaves us to make the point have the Devs look at it and let them sort it out. -
really no way to put together factual numbers without access to data-mining.
I dont think ive ever seen anyone say Controllers, defenders, scrappers, brutes, corruptors are underpowered or not needed....
MM's are often mentioned in overpowered threads, except for mercenaries....oh well every AT has its bad sets.
Dominators are generally well regarded now. Tanks have been knocked, but generally seem well regarded at the moment.
Soa's are so loloverpowered its not even funny.
Kheldians seem to alternate between overpowered and underpowered depending on the day, time of day, weather, general state of the universe, whims of fancy or whatever else happens to be going on, Ive stopped trying to figure this one out.
So that leaves Stalkers and blasters. -
It really doesnt matter is every other At is overpowered or blasters underpowered
Its the same
A corruptor or scrapper is better in any situation than a blaster.
Remember its not do blasters work
Its are blasters as good a choice as the alternatives.
Hence superfluous as in not needed because the role is already filled. -
Any somewhat competent team can complete any of the trials with any composition.
Devs balance on does THIS work
Players look at balance how does This compare to That.
Blasters are functional, but I would take any corruptor or any scrapper over a blaster if given a choice.
Its a small difference but an important one.
This is why I said superfluous not Blasters arent functional. -
There is actually a very good reason why blasters didnt go extinct.
Players dont want to give up their characters that they have had for a long time, there is also the situation of players playing a build really having no idea they are playing a bad build.
No one ever thought scrappers would go extinct, there is no reason, there are very very small situational differences between a scrapper and a brute.
Defenders are as good as corruptors.
Stalkers however have nearly gone extinct, I havent seen one stalker in a team in 3 weeks. -
All balance has to be purely off the numbers.
You cant just have the dev's saying, Blasters need to be weaker because they are played by better players. -
For anyone who doesnt have a few billion influence lying around, making a blaster is an exercise in frustration and pain watching other At's do nearly as much damage for half the work.
Not all of us have a few billion lying around.
See my last post about old dominators, dom's who had a few billion influence and purples hanging off every attachment lost damage in the change, everyone else gained.
Blasters are weak at their base, not the purple'd out defense capped, number crunching nerd thing. -
I hope you have the few billion Inf you will need to put that build together.

Quote:It was a damage boost for everyone but the top .00000001% of the population that had purples coming out their ears.*bzzzzt* Wrong.
Dominators had domination changed to remove (as it was appropriately described) "Jeckyll and Hyde" gameplay, where there was a vast gulf between performance in and out of domination - *including* the damage boost it formerly gave. Now they get that damage all the time to help even out the gameplay experience (and some sets such as psi got a needed rebalancing.)
It's a damage boost compared to what they had outside of domination. For some people (no, I'm not one of them) who managed to stack perma-dom, it was a damage reduction. But what they got was *consistent* damage as opposed to "low if you're not in dom, high if you're not." -
Pretty much, I exclude politely.
Saying XXXXX Tf forming no blasters please, tends to get people rankled.
Since alot of players ask for support when forming, especially ITF/LRSF/Statesy, its never even questioned. -
Here is a point, for a long time before dominator domination revamp, most players said, Dominators are fine, they dont need anything, but still they were bad enough that the devs had to nearly double their damage.
Blasters are not fine, just because 8 warm bodies can do just about anything in the game does not make them fine. -
Quote:I do play on freedomIf you have a minimum number to reach to start or complete a task than no blasters are not superfulous unless your on a super high population server like freedom
I dont exclude blasters, that comes off badly when announcing.
Its much easier to ask for something.
XXXXXX tf forming, looking for support, looking for control, looking for melee.... etc, it also does tend to keep stalkers out too, though honestly I havent seen a stalker in weeks.
Players Never question posts like that, they almost always send tells let me change and send invite. -
Any of the wiki's will give details on exactly how much damage blasters do.
But just feeling like playing something doesnt make it good, or even acceptable.
People played EA because they felt like it, it didnt stop it from being a bad set. So bad they broke the cottage rule to change it.
For me I would take any corruptor, defender or dominator over any blaster any day on any TF Im running. -
Doesnt really work like that
Made up numbers here, but if a corruptor does 90% of blaster damage but makes even 1 other person 10% better, then they are doing as much damage.
Im not saying blasters dont do the most damage, im saying they dont do enough for doing nothing else.
This doesnt even account for the fact that blasters spend more time faceplanted than any other AT by far. -
With pretty much everyone with incarnate abilities having more damage coming out of every pore than a low grade nuclear weapon.
It leaves me wondering whats the role of an At that does damage and nothing else?
Especially with dominators, corruptors and some offender builds are matching blaster damage and add alot more to add to a team.
I know this is an old argument, but it seems in the new post incarnate enviroment its worse than ever. -
Quote:I did this on my dominator... it was laughably easy because waterspout completly nullifies honoree. So why are you still here? You're just going to cry and keep dropping it without ever trying it again, from the sound of it. Solutions may be irrelevant to YOU, but others that see this and read through may actually decide to *learn,* unlike you, and see that yes, this IS doable with any AT.
And yet, you *ignore* the fact that all these squishies - who you say will find this impossible to beat - beat it quite easily. That Honoree's "insane accuracy that hits through purples" doesn't, and has been proven not to (past the 5% chance they'll always get) by multiple people. -
Hey I admited my mistake fairly early on in the post.
I had already dropped it before i made the post, I just forgot to mention that in the original post.
So solutions were irrelevant at that point.
And Yes Im sure I am the only one who is having this problem, keep telling yourself that. -
If I was the only one having this problem, we wouldnt have constant spam in RWZ and Ouro and we wouldnt have 330 posts.
So dont try to pretend its just me.
I just happen to be very good at finding problems and driving them into the ground with a piledriver. -
Quote:THIS...Trapdoor can also one-shot with the best of 'em. He is REALLY resistant to Char, too. If it hits it wears off in about 15 seconds.
I think one thing that annoys me about all this is that some ATs can do all this, no problem. Others.... it don't matter what you bring, blues, purples, temp powers.... you have no chance whatsoever, doesn't matter if you run it one time or fifty times - you're not going to be able to complete it. This can be a big problem on servers with low redside populations.
Ive Been trying to say this, but everyone keeps going off on tangents. -
Quote:I pointed this out at the begining of the thread please try to actually read a little of the thread before commenting. This just in:
"Multi player game contains some content which may require more than one player to complete".
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM™
I could not get a team together because its not cross faction and every time I got a villian another would leave to go drop the mission, I never got over 3 people.
I finnally gave up and dropped it. -
My guess is the defender would have the most trouble.
I havent had any trouble with melee's beating him fairly easily, and MM's tear him apart if you hold your pets back and dont aggro the portals.
Storm's tornado is very similiar to water spout so should just about have the same effect.
That leaves the defender. -
The problem is honoree has stupidly high acc, a stupidly high hold, insane amounts of hold resistance, and he does enough damage to 2 shot squishies.
Okie this leads to the problem, he will hit you right through purples, stun you right through break free's and 2 hit anyone without high resistances, also he is darn near unholdable.
Now that being said, he has almost no immob res, almost no knocback resistance.
Starting to see the problem, you cant play to your strength thats a dead end, you have to play to the enemies weakness and pray you have a power to deal with it. -
But this is bowling where the player is depending on powerset given a lopsided ball and asked to knock down one pin while blindfolded.
Or given a ball that takes up the entire lane and cant possibly miss.
Ive never said this was impossible, I said success or failure is determined at character creation, not at the time of accepting the mission.
Allright let me edit this.
Its not success or failure thats determined at character creation, its if this mission is done with a lopsided bowling ball with a blindfold or a bowling ball with target acquisition. Its difficulty, thats determined when you make your character.
So with one you need a ton of practice and still might never get it, and the other you just throw it widly in something resembling the direction of the baddies and they all die...
How is this balanced? -
The problem is the soloability of this can be dependant on as little as one power choice.
In this case water spout completly and utterly nullified the Eb's.
What in the heck is that? One power turns this from a painful slog to a joke.
