  1. why don't they do what you say, say what you mean... one thing leads to another... BAH! 80s flashbacks continue. Must get that Fixx'd... anyway...

So thanks to Texas Justice and je_saist on the matter of the black screen at the login. Not sure if it worked because now as soon as the initial loading bar pops up BOOM! I get knocked off and it goes no further. And I just bought the mutant pack... *sigh*...

So time is limited at work to search fu this issue and at home is pretty much out of the question this weekend, but does anyone know the reason and/or fix offhand for it crashing out before the loading bar even finished popping up?

Or, at this point, would I have better luck winning the powerball lottery?

Any CoHhelper or hijackthis stuff is listed in the "Nemesis has hacked my video methinks" thread...

    SN
  2. Magic! Thanks, guys... I really appreciate it.
  3. Okay, now I've run into another matter to add to this dilemma. I can get into the server selection screen (blindly), but after that the screen goes greyish and reflective in some odd sense. I think I'm going to try installing another game on this system when I get home from work to test it out, but this bites. I've had little time over the last few weeks to really delve into this much.

Anything I really may be missing here?
  4. Forgot to add this... on the issue of the drivers, I've used up to 10.2, the highest ATI released for the particular model of VC I'm using at the moment. I also have used several ones in between that one and the current one installed on.
  5. Okay, here's the situation: my parents went away on a week's vacation... 80s flashback... crisis over... digressing now:

I have had one of those black screen issues and nothing I've read about so far (as much as I can tell) has worked. I'm posting my HiJackThis stats and what I pulled from CoH helper to see if you guys spot anything I am missing. It's an older system but up until recently ran the game no problem. I am assuming it has something to do with the switch from a CRT to an LCD monitor, but even those tricks I've read about don't work. Black screen, can hear sound now problem at the server login.

Thanks for any help, guys and gals!

    Stoopid Win XP

Mea culpa... the error is an "application failed to load 0xc0000006" code... I didn't notice the "c" in there at first. Otherwise that is all it says.
  7. Shizuniza

    Stoopid Win XP

Does anyone know what causes an error coded as "0x0000006" to pop up when I try to load up this game on a WinXP SP3 machine? It's a bit aggravating...
  8. Rather simple, I've got 2 plans of attack for a new computer. My 7.5 year old Pentium 4 just can't take it much anymore and upgrading the AGP-based GPU is really stupid.

So my two paths are the core i5-750 and the P2X4 (probably the 955). CoX is really the only current game I play anymore, though there are a couple I might be interested in. Nothing major and no big deal if I don't. This new rig will mostly be for our beloved game and internetting because the little lady at home likes to hijack my rig (even though her notebook is RIGHT THERE!) and also some Office Suite stuff and training material programs for work.

So let the ideas, preferences and experiences roll in about each one. I'm not going to bother listing all the other hardware parts for it. I've made up my mind on them. I just want to hear about users' hands-on xp points with these 2 chips.
  9. Has anyone played a ninja blade/willpower toon to any decent length and could tell me your impressions, be they PvP or PvE, as to how well or craptacular this combo plays ona stalker?
  10. Thanks for the info so far, guys, Good stuff. I'm not surprised I've seen a good bit of Shield proponents so far. I started one ELM scrapper with that set, but as I've got one BS/SD scrapper, I thought I would try something else for this one. I had thought about WP or Inv at first. I've heard Regen is clicky and I don't know how well I can manage havong to click a lot with certain distractions ooooh something shiny...
  11. So I'm going to try out this electric melee stuff for a scrapper and curious not so much as to what people would recommend for a secondary, but what people think of the different secondaries paired with ELM so far, PvE, PvP, whatever... just general feel people have as to what works well, what is fun, what doesn't seem to click together as well. My concept I think will work with whatever I pick, but I mostly enjoy seeing what you guys come up when asked.

So, bring out your dead!... well, your thoughts rather...
  12. John_P, great stuff here... definitely one of the better guides... well written and great insights... I will definitely refer to this one while building my bs/sd herobot
