You know how you can summon a Crafting Table with the Field Crafter accolade? Well, similarly, create a Vet power that brings Jack Wolfe to you so you use your respec anywhere.

This made me smile. My first toon was worked up to 50 with very little farming. I remember the sense of accomplishment when I hit 50--I had /e backflip with a 'whoohoo!' bound and ready. And an accomplishment it was--my SG mates threw a Pocket D bash soon after to celebrate for those of us who hit 50 for the first time.

I discovered farming around then too--and worked a toon up through farms from 1-50 over a few weeks, culminating in a Double XP weekend (not a fast rate comparatively, but I didnt have a lot of time to invest then either). This was a fun toon, but was lacking. My first had a plethora of little temp powers and such earned over a long period; 200+ badges without really trying...I knew her and her powersets inside and out and was far more effective with her for that.

In this sense, for me, PL'ing hurts the game. The worst after effect? As I worked on my PB (later to be my third 50) I found myself getting impatient. The devious, glass-piped crack high of fast leveling was addictive and it took a while to get over that. (I did it by getting into badge hunting--a non-experience bases focus. So yeah, heroin instead of crack...)

Beyond anything else, this is the worst effect of farming experience--PL'ing. In my case (and I'm sure many others') it could have killed the very enjoyment of the game. That, above all else, is the greatest threat farming presents. So long as people have fun, they'll come. Kill the fun, you kill the game.

YMMV of course but I think some variation on the theme applies to everyone.

Yeah., my French is a rather ugly mish-mash or Quebecois, Acadien and Parisian. Too many family influences. :-) I do fine in Quebecois French, but when I attempt to use 'proper' French I'm muddled. My Arabic is better.

FYI, since I note you're in Quebec, my family is still peppered all over the Jonquiere-Chicoutimi-Lac St Jean area.

Where some of them are farmers (just to try and stay on topic...ha)

would there be any interest in trying to arrange PvP events in Siren's Call or Warburg? Both have interesting PvP dynamics and both zones are pretty empty these days...

Look me up too--red side is sparse on Champ, but we can change that to a degree just by...well, playing.

Some nights there are so many Vills in RV that you can't see Atlas for all the red graphic effects flying about. :-)

Well, the problem is my red-side time is limited--very involved with my blue side SG, plus a full time job, plus a Master's thesis. :-) Hence the need to earn prestige efficiently.

When it comes to farming I agree that the risk:reward ratio has to be maintained. I have fun on farms where you can and will die if you're not careful--but I suppose most don't consider these farms?
It's no fun to kill off a whole giant outdoor level in 15 minutes--and fun is why I play. :-)

I remember Mentu :-) Don't call me a 'farmer' tho...I'll do it on occassion for a specific reason, but I prefer exploring content far more (<3 Flashback mishes)

But if farming (to a VERY limited degree!) was never intended, I still dont know why we have the sewers...obviously they're only good to a point, and you can't ride them to 50, but they'll get you to 10 quickly enough.

I guess the big thing we need here is that old university lesson--"Define your terms!"

To get right down to it, I agree with Stray Kitten's assessment.

Farming (not exploiting!!) is part of the game--if the Devs didn't want a method to level toons fairly quickly we wouldn't have sewers nor would the old PI Demon Farms exist.

There are times when its just needed. My personal example--I have a little two-man VG--and the second just made a few tons and signed up to get me bonus prestige. Now I'm not looking for a massive base--just a medbay, stocked workshop and teleporters. Now without farming it would have taken me forever to solo up the extra prestige I needed to make the base worthwhile. I'm not exploiting; just maximizing my potential profit--and a lot of my cash gets spent on prestige anyway. :-)

But the PLers who go from 1 to 50 in a day or so? Not cool with that. They can't play.

Oh...wait...folks who PLed to 50 and can't play their toons, then come to RV to see what's up...well, thanks for the PvP kills badges, suckers.

Come to think of it, PL away. I can use more badges.

Oh, I should note that the Best Canadian Costume is 'seperate' from the others. What I mean is that after 1st-3rd place are decided you can switch to a 2nd costume for Canadian judging--its therefore possible to win 1st place and the Pierre Trudeau award :-)

Yes, I'm in DarkGuard, which is why SG mates are excluded from the cc. Just basic ethics to ensure a fair contest and avoid any potential accusations of favortism.

Just smarter and easier (and more fair) that way.
