First, let me add my own voice in to welcome you and your wife to CoH. We are always happy to find new people to play with and explore the game with. Our community, as you've seen so far, loves to jump in and help out. Feel free to lean on us for anything you may have questions about.
Disappearing Cursor Workaround:
One issue that I haven't seen addressed in this thread is the cursor disappearing on you in battle. There is a fairly lengthy thread here with a nice workaround.
Starting at Post #36, Ruff Tuff n Buff offers a workaround where you will download a new set of graphics and simply write them to your CoH Folder to overlay your current cursor settings. I will let you browse the thread to see his detailed instructions, rather than copy them to here. I recommend reading the whole thread for context of some questions that have been asked such as how to install and previews of the graphics etc.
He updates the info and files with the following posts:

Servers may show up that are not, the script connects to the port the server listens on so it may not be fully up, but its far more accurate then the one on the CoH Site.

Chiming in to add my hope that Gifting becomes available shortly after launch. I know we need to let the dust settle from any issues at launch, but if they would just let us gift things, I know about 8 people personally who would potentially come play. They know people and those people know people etc.
Not even going to mention how many contests could spruce up their awards.

This alone excites me because it will allow me to respec some characters whom I decided to go in a whole different direction with.

I am really exhausted right now and am not reading things clearly. I thought it said add 1 or 2 enhancement trays for a total of up to 20 enhancements. Then, while making my usual snarky comment, I was humbled by my error and sat dumbfounded.

Not sure about the inspirations. I would feel a bit too much like I was just blowing cash on these. I have an incredibly survivable build on most of my regular alts. Even so, I really don't care about defeat and debt hasn't been a real issue in this game in years. I use inspirations as I need in game, but don't really "need" to use them. Blowing USD on Insp for teammates who may or may not appreciate them... screw em.
We can't even get people to gather up for RAs, have them NOT open the Lambda Doors, Use the *&^& Acids on the right doors, keep Grenades on Marauder, or even get the hell out of the area when they get Double Rings on their second warning. If these Inspirations are ranged, ie. Gather on me!!, to use them, then that further stretches into the Screw Em category.
