Really? What does "realign focus and publishing support" mean in Santa Elf-ese, then? Seriously, the correlation of the B&S announcement following the axing of CoH with their "realign" language is obvious.
-
Eh, I think people are slightly justifiably edgy after it was revealed that the reason CoH got the ax was because of Blade & Soul coming States-side.

Quote:+1And it's things like this that make me believe NCSoft shut down City of Heroes because it was an embarrassment to them -- they bring Korean-style grinders to the US market again and again, and they keep sliding off into oblivion as people realize what a horrible, endless grind the game is for little payoff... while City of Heroes, almost the complete antithesis of Korean-style grinders, keeps bumbling along -- no sweeping success, but still making steady money for the company. By killing City of Heroes, NCSoft can look at its stable of MMOs and convince itself that when it brings a Korean-style MMO to the Western market and it flops, it flops because the Western market doesn't want an MMO about the subject of the MMO, and turn a blind eye to the reality that the Western market doesn't want Korean-style grinders, regardless of subject. By existing, City of Heroes is walking proof that NCSoft doesn't have a clue what the Western MMORPG market wants. So it had to go.

Quote:This. A thousand times this. This was all very clearly done so they could bring that bullcrap here to the states, but they realized they were lacking resources to do that properly, so they kill the only game that their Korean subscriber base didn't care for.Alright, I know this is one of those CoH Forum Memes, but I am going to say with all of my inborn honesty that this is a slap in the face. I'm not joking whatsoever.
First, NC kills my MMO with no explanation. Then, we find out that they shot themselves in the foot with their terrible, homogeneous, grindy MMO's and funding a brand new one, and decided to axe an American MMO to make up for it. Then they fail to deliver any sort of update on our game services, while Paragon does their best to keep us in the loop. NOW I find out they're porting this Aion clone over to America not even two weeks after putting the knife into City of Heroes? One of the MMO's, I might add, that's responsible for their huge losses last quarter?
I don't care how overused it is on these forums or how much hyperbole comes with it. This is a slap in the face. -
Quote:To be fair, the lack of aim and short circuit is made up by the set actually being worth a ****.
CoH's electric blast was gimped for its entirely pointless secondary sapper power.
Which did absolutely nothing since enemies don't use energy the same way we do.
Besides, Aim is pointless in CO. You never completely "miss".Quote:Different people mean different things when they say this, but in the literal sense this is not true: critters use endurance just like we do, and in fact use more endurance per attack than we do on a relative basis. They also cannot use a power if they lack sufficient endurance to use it.
The main difference between critters and players is that critters really only have to attack one thing with their endurance - us - and can use all of it to try to kill us. We have to manage our endurance so we have enough to kill the critters in front of us, and then be able to kill the next set of critters, and then the next set, and then the next.
Edit: I don't know when we would have gotten to the point of doing anything with it, but literally the week of the sunset announcement I was talking to Arbiter Hawk about addressing the issues with drain, and he seemed open to the idea of discussing the subject, pending finding the actual time to do anything about it (the schedule was packed for the next couple of issues). -

Quote:Not funny. I've actually seen the fabled black unmarked helicopters; it was about 16 years ago and there were 8 of them and probably breaking about a few air traffic laws by flying extremely low. I could have thrown a rock at one from my apartment balcony because of how low they were.No idea, but now I want Malta to get invisible black helicopters.
The truth is out there...
Broad daylight too. On a main road. What a poor attempt to remain inconspicuous..... -
I'm simply going with the Earth-1 and Earth-2 solution with my characters, where there was always a version of them in every universe. There's no need dwell on CoH's tragic fate in character stories.

Quote:Psst. It's Black Talon. Black Scorpion is someone much, much closer to home.In the original tutorial he gets taken out of the fight early and you were left to face Black Scorpion alone but there weren't any reinforcements. On the plus side, at least he only tells you to 'disable ALL the beacons' once - he used to repeat it incessantly.

Yeah... I've already been doing this.

Yeah, I can't even find Ms. Chernobyl in the video version. It's a needle in a haystack.

Please people, you're starting to make the community look bad.

Quote:People just don't know what a vigil is, do they? This is exactly why the first versions of the gathering I was making (a screenshot of which showed in Kotaku) had torches, but I went for a neutral stance for (almost) everybody in the final version. All that fire looked like WE were trying to burn down Atlas Park!

Good comparison, as WoW also suffers from the cartoony graphic problem. I have to wonder, are MMO devs out there really in the impression that people want their characters to look like a Saturday morning feature?
-
Well, don't judge us all by a few overly disgruntled folks. As I've stated, your invitation is one I'll accept if all efforts to save our game here fail. Your welcome is very appreciated.
