    To much farming

Simple human nature. If there is an end goal, people will find the shortest path to it. End of story.

IOs, which everyone seems to love so much are really what started this games path to what you see today. There was always farming and PL, but inf had little meaning post-50. The invention system, while a nice form of progression post-50 gave incentive to farm.

I personally dont see anything wrong with farming or PL, as long as it doesnt impact on my personal gameplay. When i have to pay 1 million inf for unti of salvage that should only cost 10k, when i ask the empath for clear mind and they respond with "huh?" or i see the granite tank hanging back on each mob and without mudpots OR taunt? Then i care...

The more that they attempt to fix it, the less sense it makes! What exactly is the Council Empire? How comes the Fifth Column are now Italian*, who were by far the least enthusiastic and least well equipped Axis Power**?

*Frankly, I'm hoping that the new Fifth will come equipped with comedy accents...

**Those vampires and werewolves aren't exactly Italian, either - Axis Powers Hungary and Romania would both fit an awful lot better...

You could angle the Italian thing because Fascism is Italian in origin, and the Nazis (German National Socialist) were an example of generic fascism? Still, they whimped out from openly calling the 5th evil Nazi badguys when the game got released in Europe - back on US servers before euro release they had no issues calling them German and instructing players to beat-up the naughty fascists!

Scorpious, does assault on troller have the same +dam bonus as defenders? If I recall it correctly, they don't.

Na, its less than defender unfortunately
  4. What relevance does a debate the semantics of mini-zones, revamps as opposed to full-sized zones have when we are talking about the possibility of making Shards co-op? It seems all you are doing here is derailing the thread.

Either you think co-op shards is a good idea, or you dont. Attempting to preach the gospel and history of 'revamps', 'full-sized new zones' and 'mini-revamps' is a waste of time and effort.

Oh, and there have been no completly new full size zones added since issue 7, 3 years ago.

My account was created around the time of issue 2 launch (date on my US sub is Sep 1 2004), so ive seen alot of new zones...

(and a complete revamp of a zone like fault, hollows, RWZ et al might as well be a new zone anyway)

But yeah. Gigantic zone with little use... And they keep adding new zones.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is exactly my point. Shards has been around for what, 4 years solid now and hasnt been looked into? Even tho its been largely empty since 2005? I really dont see the point of having a high level zone, with mobs designed specifically to challenge level 50 characters that is sitting empty all the time. Its a waste. When you also factor in that villains could well do with somewhere extra to explore and more TFs - the simple solution is co-op the place and see if that brings players into interacting with the content again (or for the first time).

The amount of players who have level 50 heroes and have never stopped foot inside the chantry should be a concern to the devs. If shards were removed as a zone id guess 90% of the playerbase wouldnt even notice.
  7. If you do this and are including token heroes for +def, let me know.

I have a lvl 50 fire/ff troller - with power boost and leadership. So thats -acc on mobs from smoke as well as all my bubbles and leadership.

Edit: If your going brute, im guessing you'll want a shield brute. Got one of them too :P
  8. If you go to log on now it gives 'restricted due to internal testing' after you select your character.

You're right about the TFs, some of them would need to be rejigged / fixed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, i can see that. I just thought the shards was a good pick because i see it as the one of the biggest failures in terms of player-participation when it comes to added content. I remember when the zone was first introduced and looking at it from that far back, and when compared to all the other additions, it stands out. People still do respecs, people run Katie TFs, Sewer runs, Lady Greys, ive even seen more Hess and Moonfire runs than SSTFs for god sake!

Without a complete overhall like they did with faultine or hollows (prefer old hollows tbh, taught people how to play), i dont see the shards getting much love - unless its turned co-op, essentially double the possibility of people being bothered with it.
  10. I have recently returned to the game after a long break and was pleased to see many of the positive changes which have occurred in that time. One of the biggest things for me was the co-op zones and TFs for heroes and villains: Cim/ITF & RWZ/LGTF.

After getting into running SF/TFs and earning merits however a few things have hit me. Villains still have less options when it comes to taskforces. Villains have less total merits they can earn. People tend to only run the same TFs, with little attention paid to a selected few.

I dont feel these things should be ignored or accepted. An easy and quick solution, in my mind would be to open up the least participated high level zone and taskforces to both heroes and villains.

If the shards zone and the 4 TFs in there were open to both heroes and villains, it would naturally see an increase in activity and players enjoying the content which is largely ignored - the main thrust for this would be because villains have less options at high levels and would be more likely to start teams, thus bringing the heroes in.

    What do people think?
