ya know .... this is like a car crash ... that keeps giving ... and giving ... believe me I try .. I really try to stay out of it as long as I can.

I have had my share of communication with MMOART and my share of stuff more specifically related to TA and no ... we never argue over dessert

Along with the book I am currently under contract to write for one of the most successful business coaches in the US, I am also somewhat schooled in the business world, and I come back to this thread occasionally when this business savvy can't take the sirencall anymore.

Listen ... Jomarro has shown that, after he bolts down the hole for weeks or months, it is this kind of thread that can sometimes force his head back up. He and I have had interesting exchanges in which I have let him know that all the other forums he uses to self promote can be accessed and informed - and posted the link to these threads . The internet cuts both ways baby.

If you don't like this thread, or you think it is ranting or unconstructive, then don't read it. I don't mean that belligerently, I mean it compassionately. Really ... just walk away. Jomarro chose to insert himself into this community. He has produced amazing art and at one time, a loyal following.

When you insert yourself into a community and then you abuse that trust, there needs to be resolution. An interestingly creative string of broken promises is not resolution - it is a perpetuation of the misuse of trust.

As TA said .. he needs to man up and make things right and for as long as he doesn't, threads like this will need to go on ... like Celine Dion ... and on .....

Communities suffer when they can't express their frustrations and betrayals so that others are informed. This is not a useless flaming thread, it is an expression of frustration and a desire for resolution.

Turns out that resolution is a luxury Jomarro is not willing to confer.

Love the artz ... I have to agree with several comments made here -

1 - teh artz of WW by Alex is spunky and FUN!
2 - I wish I could make my rl hair look like that (cut off several feet of it a month ago and I'm ready for FRUIT STRIPES!)
3 - The first series of comics with WW, Apex and ... Horus (?) were the best yet. My kids used to clamour to see them and were devastated when WW was .... um .. relocated to another realm at the end. The newer comics sucked, period. I'm very sorry that the comics were reassigned publishers and artists and writers .... it showed.
4 - I would love to see the fruitstripe hair colouring option made available for our characters in game. I wonder .. maybe if I show up and start giving out free shoulder rubs to the coh gang ... *makes plans*



5 - I really will smack him for ya, Alex ... pls snd PM srsly now.

I am gobsmacked!!

First, LJ - incredibly beautiful and I can't thank you enough. It feels especially poignant as TA and I will be separated for the whole weekend so we will get to celebrate our love on another day. Not that we really need a special day - the man gives me a valentines rush every time we are together.

Perhaps there is a reason these threads exist and the simple solution has not worked in the past.

Best to put the past behind now, if possible, without any remarks that seem to infer that there has been some sort of bizarre consipracy.

Gotcha hon .. I'll do the decent thing and delete that ... not that I think it is impolite, nor is it uncivil, but the problem with public conversations is just that.

Honestly I'm not actually upset personally at Jomarro. I think he's a great guy. I don't even think it is necessary to air dirty laundry. Business is simple - you make a mistake, you clean it up and move on. It is hard when that business involves personal talent like writing or illustration .. even body work (and I make money doing body work and writing and I know what it feels like if i get feedback that a client did not like the way it came out). There's no need to get personal or over informative. Keep it clean ... I screwed up, I'm sorry, what can I do to recreate trust or complete the deal?

Sad that it took the public conversation to get resolution. I don't think it sets a good precedent. The private communications should have achieved it for everyone's benefit.

In concordance with Bayani and Ironik, all I have said about this situation all along is that good artists don't necessarily make good business owners.

Owning a car doesn't make you a mechanic. Being a talented artist doesn't make you a business person.

But excuses and moves and inconveniences of life happen to all of us, whether we are working from home, a 9-5 or on the road all the time.

If CoH didn't deliver, people would want their money back.

If you place trust in someone and they violate that trust, expect to hear about it, especially if that trust has been healed and rebroken several times.

For every action there is a consequence. Each of us has our own moral code about what is 'good' and what is 'bad'.

For MMOArt, these sorts of threads are a direct consequence of their actions. They aren't victims to this anymore than the rest of us are. They took money .. in some cases quite a lot of it, and in the cases where the promised art has not been produced, they will continue to receive feedback about that.

Buyer and Seller Beware.

Generally speaking you can count on me to be pretty dispassionate and diplomatic with almost all issues. I can get Sassy for sure .. but usually tongue in cheek.

In this case I've watched what has unfolded for a long time. A long, long time. I've been in communication with MMOArt privately.

When you run a small business and you display unavailability, inconsistency, sporadic emergence and sustained absences, like it or not, your character comes into question. Like it or not, small businesses ARE a reflection of the person who sources them.

I have absolutely no doubt that Jomarro and his lovely wife are really genuinely bright and lovely people.

That doesn't make them good business owners.

And .. when you make a small business from your own talents and don't have what it takes to run it professionally without letting people down, you have to take the blows. Sad but true .. this is the cost of running a small business.

Far as I can tell, watching over a shoulder so to speak, there's artistic genius and small business stupidity.

The amound of money still outstanding for TA in unfinished art should be refunded to him. It is a significant amount and frankly I think it is insulting how much art that was commissioned long after he paid for his comes out with a "TAH DAH!! CHECK IT OUT!!". It's like a slap in the face, every single time!

Jomarro .. send him the money. He needs it a great deal more now than he does 3 year old art and all the headaches and disappointments you have helped to create.
