<ul type="square">[*] Name: Ex Machina Prime[*]Currently Recruiting: All levels, all archetypes, but can only take on one or two more Masterminds.[*]RP Level: This is actually a sort of complex question. In general, I endeavor to tell a story (sometimes a vague one) with my characters in MMOs. This means that I will often make in-character choices that I feel will advance the "plot," but does not mean that you'll find me speaking and acting in-character 100% of the time. The VG has a bit of an RP flavor to it, and I would definitely do my best to foster an environment in which other players could find the freedom (and perhaps some cooperation) to advance their own plots. However, RPers and non-RPers are equally welcome to join. As such, the level of RP will be determined by the number of players that join from each camp.[*]PvP: Some weekly PvP events are on the agenda.[*]Theme/Concept: Ex Machina Prime is a robotics/cybernetics-themed VG. Players with robot or cyborg characters are prime candidates for recruitment. Players with non-robot or non-cyborg characters are welcome, but will have limited privileges unless they devote one of their costume slots to a robotic/cybernetic version of their character (for things like VG events.) [*]Activity: VG is brand new (about a week old as of this posting.) Currently we have two active members and two semi-active members. WTB more active members![*]Requirements for Membership: Having Ventrilo is nice. Don't need a mic, just ears. =P[*]Leadership: Cypher[*]In-Game Contact(s): Global @Cypher1 @Northwatcher[*]Out-of-Game Contact(s): Via Ex Machina Prime forums (see link below)[*]URL: http://www.onyx-citadel.net - just forums for now (registration is not required to access the public areas of the forums.)[*]Coalitions: None.[*]Other Details: Ex Machina Prime will, primarily, be a social group focused on making new friends, missioning together and perhaps some community events. As the roster grows and the average level rises, a good bit of our effort will be focused on exploring the CoX endgame content. Our overall goal is to create a fun environment in which all members are important to the VG, and to encourage activity within the VG, the game and the Justice community.[/list]

I realize that everyone wants their base built and furnished yesterday, and that you want something to do with the piles and piles of Influence you've accumulated over the past few months, but it's completely unbalanced to allow long term characters the opportunity to trade in their Influence for Prestige.
Remember that Prestige is acquired in place of Influence while fighting in Supergroup mode. This might not mean much for a level 50 Hero with 200 million Influence, but for a level 10 Villain with 5,000 Influence, fighting in Supergroup mode is a huge sacrifice. Low-level Villains who do everything in their power to help get their bases built will do so at the cost of their own advancement.
So even if the transfer rate were 1000 : 1 there's still a huge advantage to being able to acquire 100% Influence, without worrying about Prestige, for 50 or even 25 levels. It's far more fair to start everyone off with 0 Prestige and make them earn their bases through the normal methods. People in CoV are going to be starting out with enough of a handicap already. -
Off topic, and out of curiosity, what is the Supergroup roster limit?

I think it's been mentioned that you rent the bases, not buy them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was under the impression that it was both. You first buy the base and then pay upkeep on it. As of yet, we don't know how much the upkeep will be (I suspect it will be proportional to the base size and complexity) and so it's quite possible that one person might be able to maintain a base all on his onesies.
Having said that, I think a Fortress of Solitude works great for Superman, but would probably be pretty boring and lame in City of Heroes. I mean, what good is a huge, uber base if you're the only one to ever see it? You surely can't allow base raids because you'd be utterly defenseless.
So unless your Supergroup leader is a complete jagoff, I really don't this issue is worth worrying about. -

It is not forced grouping.
I know there are several solo SGs out there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but do you really think that solo SG will get enough prestige to finance a base???
[/ QUOTE ]
Eventually, yes.

What I'm worried/confused about is, does each member accumulate his own prestige or is it just one big "pool" for the entire SG? Meaning could someone concievably start with a full SG, build up beaucoup prestige, boot everyone but him and then erect himself a ultra cool uber base?
[/ QUOTE ]
Doesn't matter. In either situation, a Supergroup leader could boot everyone from the Supergroup once the base was built.
Since only one person (the Architect) can actually build the base, the Prestige will eventually have to be pooled anyway. So I hope that they save a step and have Prestige go right into a singel Supergroup pool so that everyone can keep track of it as it's earned.
