Fundamentally, a proper point blance would be best, allowing the player the most freedom of choice. Unfortunately, it is very tough. Champions / Hero System has had 20 years of tuning to it, and certain teams will reliably take down certain other teams of the same point value. It can't be prevented when a wide array of powers are available. The best you can hope for is to get enough play balance to eliminate the phenomenon of a team that reliably stomps all other teams of the same point total.

my key choices for Gnarly's Speed On Demand (SOD) and some related keys:
forward, left, back, right = e,s,d,f so I can keep my hands on the typing home keys
autorun, follow = ctrl+e, ctrl+f never bind these to regular keys, that leads to me accidentally running into dangeerous gangs.
reset = space I use reset a lot. I use it as my break out of autrun. Using it a lot keeps SOD from breaking so much.
up, down = r,v
fly, run = t, b
switch modes (normal / SOD) = w
target_enemy_near = a
target_enemy_next = ctrl+a
target_friend_next= shift+a and I bind a mouse button to Shift+a
powexec_abort = z -

Actually, I liked the post. I'm not sure what was "shameless" about Tony Stark ... er ... Kord poring over his data. All in all, a good role-play post. Maybe you'd have got more response posting it in the "just for fun" forum. I found your post by accident on a mass search for something unrelated.

We on the test server have been reporting crashes per hour, not crashes per day. So they go live with it, AND add new material that has not been tested on the test eserver. And we who live on test know their in-house testing is ludicrous at best. I REALLY hope none of the dev's MANAGEMENT team ever get to work in a critical industry like medical devices, weapons controls, banking, or pharmaceuticals.Issue 2 wasn't released, it escaped.
Lovely new material, though.Kudos to the artists, sound shapers, story writers, and code grunts.

I need a variant for characters who have hover but not fly. They need a speed (combat) mode that switches between sprint-no-hover when moving and hover-no-sprint when standing. Normal (non-combat) movement would not do any trick switching and let me control things with the power buttons.
I apologize if this ihaas already been answered. I did some searching and couldn't find it.
Any ideas? -

I have noticed a quirk.In Normal mode, If I turn on auto-run, I can't stop auto-running with the back key, I have to use the forward key. Back just holds me still while I hold the key down. Actually, that's kind of useful, if I just get used to it.
However in SoD mode, backwards key does kill auto-run. It would probably be better if they were consistent.
Again, thanks for an astonishing system with excellent error recovery. It does seem to get weird at times, but the reset key is a life saver. I bind it to R (in an ASDF setup).
