I have tried both analog and digital inking. I haven't used those ink-dipping pens yet (but will be as part of my class) and totally NOT looking forward to that.
But I have a bunch of various sized Micron pens, from the brush, 0.01, to 1 sizes. Lots of good line weight variation there. I really love the solid 'black' you get from them. Quite astounding. Just remember, I was just as scared as you were to 'mess up', that's why i usually worked on a photocopy of the original pencils. You can also fix any errors in photoshop later as well.
I have also digitally inked in photoshop with tablet. Lots more work, but comes out looking very similar. I actually did a Roxstar inking with both manual and digital, and side by side they're virtually identical.
Normal inking
Digital inking
No i can't make straight lines on the tabletYes I know about using the 'shift' key.
So to each their own! -
Hehe, I just feel bad, knowing who is going to get an original Celsia... and who is not! :P (btw, I'm not!
But I already an original Celsia :P)
But look at the level of interest on this! Astounding!
Truly was a wonderful idea, gives everyone an equal chance.
Must go through the list and put numbers next to names. -
Yes. Learn to draw from LIFE! People! Objects! All that. Don't try to jump into drawing Anime, superheroes, comics etc. You must learn to draw from life! Then you will be able to exaggerate features and such properly and have it still look good! *nods* That's why I"m taking an arty art class.

Aye, art class be good! Even if your professor is absurdly picky and you don't understand the reasoning behind his critiques!!

That piece is just outstanding... OUTSTANDING.... *dies*

I second the nominatio of Drawing on the Right side of the brain. Very excellent resource, really makes you rethink how you SEE... which is very important in drawing!!!

HOORAY! *pounceglomps!*

Yes, do NOT use Windex if it's a flat panel!!
When in doubt, the best thing you can use is a slightly damp VERY soft napkin, tissue, or towel. You don't want to use anything abrasive, or like others said with alcohol or things in it. VERRRY bad. You may be able to use it once or twice or even ten times with no noticable effect, but it IS bad!
The -BEST- thing you can do is go to store and pick up those little LCD cleaning packs. They said they are -specific- for LCD's, laptops, etc. And usually comes with a 'wet' cloth and a 'dry' cloth, usually in those little wet-nap type packages. -
Hot damn. That's a fine looking digital painting! *Has something to inspire to!*

You must learn the fine art of the 'hover'!!
There's a small 'zone' above the surface of the tablet where the cursor will track to the stylus without activating line drawing goodness. Do like what someone suggested earlier, moving your finger down so it's just below the pen tip, so your finger can touch the surface without the pen tip actually touching, so you can get used to it.

Just make sure you buy a large flatbed scanner... something that can accept a big piece o paper if you draw big
You can usually set what resolution you want it scanned in, but make sure yo ucheck the store's return policy 'just in case'. YOu never know. -
Sometimes that happens to me, in photoshop, where for some reason it forgets about the eraser side and forgets about the pressure sensitivity. I usually have to restart photoshop to get it back.

Hey I wear clothes!! I just leave it up to the artist if they want to do it or not as she's comfortable with or without
But looks good! Do you have a dark sketch because that one is a little light. -
I took to my tablet pretty easily too. Probably because I have a pretty well developed sense of eye-hand coordination. Keep practicing, you'll get used to it! Just use it a lot, and you can always zoom WAAY in for ultimate control and detail, don't forget!
