I hang out here because there is a WHOLLLLE lot less fluff than on certain other sections that I used to hang out in a whole lot.
Also a lot less catgirl hate. Only lots and lots of love all around. It's a nice place to be.
OH yeah and to look at art and post art and comment on art.

I don't mean to be weird but really, do we need to ask why we need to PM his name? Really.
-
Yeah, you never saw the Russian one she did for me and Val? It's stellar!
-
I've had a Candra piece done
She is -GREAT- to work with might I add. Though she is also in Russia and as such you have to use Western Union because paypal doesn't work there so that's a bit of a deterrent. But she is awesome!
-
Yeah I'm pretty darn sure that if I wanted a piece that is 'out there' as he does I can find someone good enough to do it and do it better.
Not that I want a piece that is 'out there' but the option is still mine! -
Wow. Just... wow.
Yeah he's definitely on my blacklist for sure...
(and NO pun intended for sure!)
There's no excuse for that kind of hypocrasy.
But it's confusing as some of his pics, there has been some of more african american skin tones, that I recall. Perhaps I could be wrong but...
damn. That's crazy. -
Prime examples of why cats are better!!!!!
Fo sho! -
Well.... could be worse. could be anti-catgirl hate
-
DJ I think you are a super fantastic artist and I adore your work!
Feel free to ignore me!!! :P -

And if someone PAID you to do a piece? Then you damn well BETTER listen to what people have to say... or do you want to be known as someone who charges fees for work that could be better?

I have to comment on this. No, if you are getting paid to do a piece, there is only ONE person (or client) that you have to listen to. NO ONE ELSE.
I have personally seen many cases where a commissioner requests something, the artist does it and even in some cases doesn't even -agree- with something about a piece, but the commissioner likes it. That is all that matters with a commission. The client. Period. No one else.
Now, that being said, an artist might want to listen to comments about a piece, in order to improve -in the future-. But it's likely that the commissioner already likes that artist's work, enough to pay them and be happy with what they get.
Sorry just had to throw in my two cents. -
If I had a Real Rowr Doll ...
*trails off* -
I wouldn't critique something that someone had commissioned and is considered 'done'. Because it's generally not the artist posting it, and the commissioner has signed off on it already so there won't be any changes done anyway and if you critique it it makes you sound like a starstarstarstar.
However if someone posts a WIP maybe they are looking for some critiques... so then i guess it's okay to post a critique. I dunno. Yes I agree there is a lot of 'omg that's awesome' even when it might not be. But follow your mother's advice if you don't have something nice to say say nothing at all
But. yeah. it's touchy issue for sure! -
Well also, the DA 'mature filter' relies on the person posting the pic to actually pick if it's mature or not. I absolutely cannot rely on that.
I'm more of the mind set to say 'Hey I got art somewhere but I bet you can find it and if you can't PM me!' or something.
I think we're all resourceful enough. -
We should all just totally STOP getting NSFW pics anyway! Then we won't have to worry about this issue at all wold we?
-
Hahahaha.
well good.
Does that mean most of my gallery is off limits? -
What about Tigra vs Rowr?
-
So these are cards already drawn or blank ones and we um... compensate somehow and have something specified drawn on them? I'm confused...
-
O.o
Omg. Now I can't look at that pic the same way again.
Also. Ow!
Maybe that's why he looks so upset! -

If people dislike the re-use of poses or 'reskinning' then I submit to you that Rowr's recent dressup doll is immoral as well. Any of the various people who do 'Timms' are also guilty of this sin. In fact, if you want to go down this road, Andy Warhol is supremely guilty because he only recolored photographs for his famous Marilyn piece. Are you willing to say that all of these art pieces are 'wrong' because they reuse art? Really, who is to say what art can and cannot be? The moment you start to put personal classifications on it, you fail to recognize it for what it is; Art.

Well no, because my dress up doll was purposefully -meant- to get different outfits. That was it's whole purpose, agreed upon by both the artist and the commissioner.
Of course I can see how you are relating it to the re-use of 3d objects and stuff but again, that's the whole -point- of those props.
We're talking say if someone commissioned someone to draw the Mona Lisa, and that person did, and then decided after giving it to the commissioner, to paint over parts of it and turn it into the Mona Rowr, then that is not so cool I believe.
*wonders if I actually know what I'm trying to say!* -
If you need a catgirl, then i'm your ... cat...girl.... :-/
-
Get someone to do a pencil or ink drawing. No colors that way!!! :P
-
Well without getting an explanation from the artist in question, I don't think we'll really know what the reasoning is. All we can see is that nadya did a commission, posted it in her gallery, and then the artist re-colored it as something else and put it up in his own gallery. And then we are basing our assumptions off of that. I'm sure everyone involved was happy, but I still -personally- think that's kinda crappy for the artist to do. Both saying not to post it in her gallery -and- re-coloring it, though I suppose that is his right too.
