Anyone can build a toon that can solo AV 53 Statesman . But that is pure mechanics, and has nothing to do with playing the game, and nothing to do with RP.

Some people play within the game, others like to strech it as far as possible , others will step outside the game. When it comes to RP the same is true, either we except that and restrict our RP actions to agreed boundaries or we accept seperate RP strands.

Personally i have RPed at GG , Pok d some closed SG/VG RP settings , and randomly with PUG RP. In all cases i can say i have found bits of other players RPing, character or plotage , that i have felt i have to ignore for a range of reasons, it happens, its a imperfect game.

Now to say CB's plot forces others to react is not true, just like the current GG Find Annette plot does not force other players to react. Yes CB's plot would cause a massive counter strike, but there are plenty of reasons for any character to treat it a a backgorund News story, given the vast number of heroes comparde to villains its unlikely that there would be enough bits of the Court to go around.
And before i get shouted at, YES i agree Tomb would become deadmeat, yes the US airforce would be bombing villains into the stone age, and yes its the sort of plot i would avoid like the plague.

However if CB's plot is world News , would not a private Spacestation, run by a group of US based Supers not also be world news ? and would it not have a world wide reaction by other power groups, and nations .

Finally, and i think this is important, CB is out there making plots that allow ANYONE to become involved in, if they wish to, what ever other faults they may have, that must be a good thing, can other say the same of there RP and plotage ?

Given that we get no details on anywhere out side Paragon , not even which major roads link it, i have always assumed it a non specific dropped in location in RI.ie an extra bit of coast line . That way the rest of the real world RI and USA can be used with out adjustment. It also allows Lovecraft fans to use Providence.

sounds interesting, i am on Union, and have a couple of tankers it would be nice to get into some action. With advanced warning Tuesday evenings can be freed up for some Tankage.

the UV missing team mate is a very high profile plot to the UV people, to others at GG is a oh another one bites the dust event . Most of the GG RP is very much small town , small community, events outside Paragon are wallpaper.

The mass killing is a different sort of plotage, and is set in a wider scope.

Yes such numbers of dead would be a major event, but if your not the sort of hero that deals with major events its just a news story. It may be a 9/11 proportions event, but 9/11 had little effect on the day to day work of the police in , say , Idaho, and to be honest GG is as far away as Idaho as it is from most other RP events on Union server.

Also given the CoX world with Rikti raids, zombie invasions etc etc there will be odd spikes of high death tolls.

Ok, having just completed the Power Loyalist arc of missions, and without droping any spoliers, if you want a picture of the state of the Praet goverment do this path. it also gives you a clear idea of Cole's current state of mind.

the time line broke off at the point cole kills recluse at the Well , how much this effects things is a moot point as we have no details..But with no Recluse the Villain side of the pre hami Wars would be very different.

as to money ..the large number of named Corps /Labs/compaies , plus the Synd. must mean currency , given Cole's nature with his pic on .

as to population ..it would seem to be low, as the clockbots are doing all the low paid jobs, though i did spot a Panhandler NPC id Neut.

do you see Praet. V as a mirror of V, transplanted or as V who grew up in Praet. as so will be somewhat different all round ?

do you see her as having similar powers or something different ?

do you feel V is strongly shaped by becoming a widow, or is her persona that way dispite the widow training ?

what are V's natural skills / talents ..ie can play the drums , good at drawing, fitness junky and do these effect her job (AT) choices ?

what are you sure you DONT want to inclued in the Praet. V?

I try to look at the game mechanics and lore as the foundation on which to base a character, if you twist it too much you end up with a unstable character, which often means you end up spending your evening explain what your character is rather than playing them.

The Peacebringer AT is a good example, I have seen a number of people use it as the powersets for a non- kheldian toons, and until its established and has met all the other players toons there is a constant level of needed OOC to keep the IC setting going ..it’s a choice between effort and reward. Describing a powerset in terms of your character is a large chunk of what RP is about, very few Willpower set users I have met say their character has “ super strong willpower “ to limit one’s self to that level of game mechanic is just silly .

As with all RPing in MMOs there are huge lumps of RP background to fill in, where you live, what Car you drive, fav food/ films/music/ cloths , wealth and RL skills..none of which the game defines for you , you have to make it all up. Then , with CoX you come to the powers and the bits they miss out of the game.. common examples like walking through walls, how much a superstrenghter can in fact lift, psi powers above and beyond power set effects , super senses, hyper intelligence, space travel.

To say you can’t have any of those because there is no game mechanic seems to totally miss the point of RP .. as long as you fellow RP can understand what you are trying to achieve where is the problem.

Not everyone likes the same sort of RP, but if your clear as to what your RPing they can choose to join in or walk way.

If your talking about robotic Toons in Paragon city, there is a very simple in game measure of their legal status and rights, do they have a hero licence issued to them.

If so then they are treated as beings able to meet the requirments of a Hero. Just like any earth born human or mutant or alien or dimmensional visitor or spirit or what ever point of creation the Toon has.

Now taking it as a given that a Hero has both rights and responcabilities, it creates a starting point for the seeking of further rights and recognition of status and so on ..

one of my Toons is a life long fan ofd the local NHL team ..the Paragon Penguins..Go Pens !.. she is often seen wearing a team scarf.

yes a made up team , but given the status of such sports in the US it is a bit odd there is no in game referances to such teams.
