Hi All, perhaps something that's a known issue, so apologies if I'm repeating other discussions here, but anyway...
I've noticed a problem with keybinds / macros on a new alt I rolled - on mission exit, or map change I occasionally loose some of my blinds, or my macros get trashed.
The new alt is a peacebringer, and one of the first binds I set was "F" to toggle Energy Flight - I first lost this bind after exiting the "Flower Knight" mission in "Outbreak", but I've had the same problem a couple of times since. Not by any means a major issue, but I tend to rely on the "F" key to enable a quick getaway.
However, I'm getting a more troublesome problem where I've (in common with others) set a couple of macros to toggle between nova and human form - and change power trays at the same time. When I exit a mission map, the macro has been trashed - and only the first command in the macro's chain remains. The downside of that being that when I want to quickly change between nova and human form, and get that form's powers loaded at the same time, I end up just getting one of these (the tray change). Which means I can't fire anything, as I've loaded a tray up that has the other form's (disabled) powers. Which isn't good if you're in a scrap with some Outcast types, and want to change forms mid battle - exactly how I got caught out with this earlier this evening !
A bit frustrsting - I can always reload the binds and macros, but it gets a bit tedious. I'll admit that I've not used macros a great deal before (not since I last rolled a MM) but I do dabble with binds a fair bit, and I've not seen this before.
Have bugged it with support, but just wondered if this was a known issue. Anyone else had this ? -
It's taken over 3 years of irregular gaming, and a severe battle with alt-ohism, but I finally hit 50 at 22:30 this evening.
Sorry, just had to shout about it. I think my missus will question my sanity if I don't stop grinning... -
Only just read this, but well done on a good article Scarlet. Regardless of personal preferences towards naming conventions, it's always good to see positive discussions on this forum.
From my point of view, I nearly always roll my alts based on a name first - I come up with a name based on a powerset, and then roll from there.
I like a good play on words, and one of my all time favourites (from my own characters) is Stone Death. I've never really found a build that i'm comfortable with, that suits the name - Over the past few years, he's been a Stone Tank, Stone Brute, Earth/Weather troller, and currently he's an Earth/Rad troller. I really ought to play him more often... -
Hi Folks
I'm looking for a SG for Robotank. I'm not specifically interested in RP or bases, just looking for the social / teaming opportunties really. Just finding the game a bit of a grind at the moment, and hoping that being in a SG will revive my interest a bit.
I've been in a few SGs before, but basically got a bit bored of being a prestige farmer for somone else's base designs. To be honest, bases don't appeal to me that much, and I'm happy enough without the use of one.
I've also been in some SGs (for about 1 week at the most) where new players were herded for the prestige bonus, and then derided as 'n00bs' when they looked to their SG leaders for advice - not the sort of thing I find particularly helpfull.
So, any friendly SGs out there recruiting ? - I'm way past the wrong side of 30, and I'd rather team up with players who just do this for fun - I don't take the game seriously, and I'm a fairly casual player. Happy to help out and exemp down when needed as well, and willing to help new players out where possible (although I doubt how much wisdom I can pass on)
Apologies if there's a dedicated thread somewhere for this... -
If this was made a feature of the game itself, rather than left as a social concept, then I think we could avoid any of the potential flame wars, etc.. that would arise from this.
A freelancer could be linked to a SG within the game and would automatically earn extra influence for any prestige he/she earns for the SG. The influence would have to be deducted from the SG itself, which could have some kind of pool of influence for this (as well as base rent and other costs). If the SG doesn't have enough influence then the freelancer would automatically stop earning prestige (same as coming out of SG mode) and both parties would be notified. Either party could end the pairing at any time, just like Sidekicks / Examplars.
If the functionallity is added to the code of the game, and the game controls the partnership between the freelancer and the client SG, then there'd be no room on either side for witheld payments.
Of course this won't stop the previously mentioned spy / sabatouer moves, but then maybe that just adds more fun to the game. Additionally, I don't see any reason why a freelancer couldn't form a long term relationship with a SG (that sounds too much like a speed dating line...) if both sides wanted to.
Something like this will allow Robotank to keep the social benefits of SuperGrouping, but without the disadvantages that present players who don't own CoV...
(Stops typing again due to needle being stuck...) -
Sounds like a good idea to me. I like the idea of Robotank being a gun (or tank) for hire.
This might stop the recent spate of people recruiting in SG's purely for the initial prestige boost.
I seem to remember the days when you joined a SG for the social benefits, not just to help fund some other bod's base design blah blah blah blah....

Forgot to mention, if anyone wants to purchase my salvage, drop me a tell in the game (Defiant server) or send me PM on the forum.
Robotank has now earnt some salvage (some kind of potion), and he's not even in a supergroup!! (how does that work??)
Edison has some tech salvage, can't recal what though...
On a related note (will I ever let it lie ?) I'm beginning to see a worrying trend - Robotank has been invited to several SuperGroups over the past two weeks, only to find the only reason is to help pay for some other player's Base Designs - not the reason I'd want to join a SG at all.

I'm sure you have heard the benefits of CoV though, but just wanted to check with whether you feel you will never buy it. 4 extra slots and 1 month of play time, even if you care not for the CoV content and base stuff, for a one off £17.99 from www.play.com... That's a pretty good deal in my opinion..

I don't play CoH as much as most other players - it's more an occasional game I pick up when I've got some free time. Not for me the 6 hour task forces or all day playing. As a guide, I've been running RoboTank and Edison since about June, and I've only just got them into the 20's
For myself - and I appreciate that it's just my point of view - I can't justify spending the same amount of money again on an expansion pack for a game I don't play that often. Especially if the only reason is so that I can 'spend' my salvage and prestige.
Essentially - and this is my point - I don't want to spend another £17 of real money, just so that I can collect and spend some pretend money. That way madness lies - life's way too short for that sort of thing...
I don't begrduge earning prestige for my SuperGroup (the Sheep are a good bunch), as long as I don't loose out on anything myself.
But then again, it's only a game... -
Ah right - well until Edison gets to a higher level, I guess I'll carry on playing in SG mode (hey, I like the colours
)
I guess my main query was really to do with the salvage - if I only own CoH then I don't see why the game should bother giving me salvage, as the best I can do with it is try to find someone I can sell it to.
But then again, it's not the end of the world...
Thanks again for the info here guys. Keep on rockin' -
Thanks guys - I guess this is just one of those things.
A pity really, I like the idea of being in a SuperGroup, and playing in SG mode kinda helps with the concept. The social benefits of a SG remain the same, I guess I just won't be wearing the SG uniform any more... -
Hey guys, apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere (if it has, I can't find it...)
Anyway, I've been playing Edison in SG mode this evening, and I've earnt some salvage on a rather long Clockwork mission.
I don't own CoV (and probably won't for some time) so what use is the salvage to me ? Can I trade it in for Influence ? I don't think the Super Sheep have a base, and even if they did, I gather I won't be able to enter it anyway, let alone use the salvage.
If I can't use the salvage, then why did I earn it ?
And to further increase my chance of getting flamed, what's the point in me earning Prestige for the Super Group, if I don't see the benefit of it ? (Aside from me being a thoroughly nice chap) - I don't begrudge earning points for the Sheep, but am I losing out on influence by doing this ?
If so - then here's the biggie - if you don't own CoV are loosing out by playing in SuperGroup mode ??
