It is mostly a teaming build but I want the ability to solo at a fair pace if I'm in the mood for that.
I tend to play in melee range (or close to) and get right in the action. Looking to Incarnate it up once I get there.
I've revised the build and this is what I have come up with:

Awesome. Thank you both for letting me see your builds!
Definitely gives me a bunch of different ideas for my own build. -
That's definitely why I posted my build, I'm looking for any suggestions so I appreciate it.
I'm still kind of new to the whole IO scene as well so I'm sure that I didn't look to hard at that.
Would you mind posting your build or giving me a general idea as where I should look to improve survivability? -
Hi all!
I'm currently working on a new Gravity/Time controller and was hoping I could get some advice with what I've come up with so far.
Its been awhile since I've run a controller so I know my slotting and IOs aren't quite optimized. lol
Currently have a few slots that are empty as I wasn't sure what to do with them.
I'll likely solo on occasion with him, but teaming as much as I can on my crazy hours. Any advice is appreciated!

Hey everyone,
I'm finally getting around to rolling my Gravity/Time Controller and just wanted to get a little bit of input from you all. This was my first run at the build and its been awhile since I've built one so I know there are definitely things to tweak in there.
I will be teaming with this guy as much as possible during leveling.

Thanks again for all of the awesome advice on the build everyone!
Now that I have finally started getting parts together I have a couple additional questions. I have on previous occasions used both AVG and System Mechanic on my pcs but was wondering if anyone had suggestions on an anti-virus and system cleaning program.
I have heard both Avast and CCleaner are good programs but have never used them myself. Are they worthwhile or is there something that works just as good? -
Thanks for all the input everyone. I really appreciate it!
PS. Ironblade, that isn't my final case choice. Its just a full tower case I'm using as a place holder at the moment. Any less hideous suggestions? -
Hmmm, I don't absolutely have to OC the system, it was just an initial thought process. Taking some of your guys suggestions into mind, how does a build like this look:
Case: NZXT Phantom Full-Tower
Motherboard:ASUS P8Z77-V Intel 7 Series Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K
CPU Fan: Corsair CAFA50 A50 Air Series
Power Supply:Corsair AX850 Power Supply
Memory:Corsair CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B Vengeance
Primary Drive:Corsair CSSD-F120GBGT-BK Force GT Series
Data Drive:Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda 1TB
Video Card:EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB
Disc Drive:LG CH12LS28 12X Internal Blu-Ray/DVDRW -
I'll have to do some more checking on the viability of the heat sink, but other than that what do you think of the rest of the build?
-
So I'm looking at finally building a new PC and I was hoping to get a little feedback from some of the community members that have more experience than I do.
Gaming wise I will be using this for CoH, Guild Wars 2, Mass Effect and whatever else I end up getting hooked on, lol.
So far what I have is:
Case
NZXT PHAN-001WT Phantom Full-Tower Case
Motherboard
ASUS P9X79 PRO Intel X79 Motherboard
Processor
Intel Core i7-3820 Processor
CPU Fan
Phanteks Dual Heat Pipe CPU Cooler
Power Supply
Corsair CMPSU-850AX AX850 Power Supply
Memory
Corsair Vengeance Desktop Memory
Primary Drive
Corsair Force GT Series Solid State Drive
Data Drive
Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard Drive
Video Card
EVGA GeForce GTX 570 SuperClocked
Disc Drive
LG 12X Internal Blu-Ray/DVDRW Combo Drive
Operating System
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64BIT OEM DvD
This ends up around $2150 CAN including shipping, from tigerdirect.ca
I'm not fully up to date on some of these parts so if anyone can see room for improvement I'd love to hear it.
Thanks in advance! -
Thanks again for all the great info guys!
Takes a bit to digest it all and go through all the options but I think the PC build I'm looking at right now looks good.
I'll let you know how things look when I start getting my parts in. -
Thank you very much for the build Hyperstrike. I'm am liking the look of that a lot!
I was comparing prices between Newegg and Tigerdirect and found that currently for those parts that Newegg is cheaper. I've dealt with Tigerdirect before through buying a power supply but never had any dealings with Newegg. How are they for customer service, shipping, etc?
The reason I hadn't necessarily planned on overclocking was because I have had literally no experience with that before and while I'm sure there are some great resources out there on how to do it, it wasn't something I thought was absolutely necessary. Although the more I think about it, the more I may want to try my hand at it when I get the parts.
Thanks again Father Xmas, Hyperstrike and Dissolution for all the info! Very much appreciated. -
Hi Father Xmas!
Thank you for the reply and all the great links.
I haven't be able to go through all of them yet but here is a basic build that I threw together from Tigerdirect.ca.
NZXT PHAN-001RD Phantom Full-Tower Case http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...&Sku=A406-2052

Corsair CWCH50-1 Hydro H50 CPU Liquid Cooler http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...7&Sku=C13-2528
Ultra X4 1200-Watt Modular Power Supply http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...7&Sku=ULT40323

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64BIT Operating System Software - OEM http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...2&Sku=M17-7302
That ends up being $2,284.83 but I realize I'm probably going way overboard on a few pieces. If anyone can help me streamline this or make alternate suggestions that would be great.
One thing I wasn't sure about was the power supply. The current one is 1200W with an 80+ Bronze rating, but they do have a 1050W with a 80+ Silver rating for $252.99 as opposed to the $298.99 for the 1200W. Would it be better to go with the smaller one with a higher rating? I can't actually see needing all 1200W.
As a sidenote, I was wondering how to condense my links and just have it appear as a word, rather than the whole url address.

Thank you for the help! -
Hi everyone! I just wanted to get some input on a new PC that I plan on building over the next little while here.
This will be the first time I've actually built my new PC myself, so any tips from you Pros out there are more than welcome!
Taken from Hyperstrike's sig:
1) What will you primarily be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
***
Gaming(Currently CoH, Starcraft 2 and TOR when it comes out) and web browsing mostly atm.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
***
$2000 CAN
Hopefully this includes shipping but I can throw a little extra for that if need be.
3) Where do you live? This is important as it affects what vendors you may buy from and how much shipping costs might be.
***
Alberta, Canada
4) Are you planning to buy or build?
***
Build
5) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need. If you're unsure what exactly you need, say so.
***
Case
Motherboard
CPU
CPU cooling unit
RAM
Graphics Card
Sound Card
Power Supply
Hard Drive
CD/DVD/Blue Ray Drive
Operating system
6) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
***
Not reusing any tower components but am keeping the same keyboard, mouse, monitor.
7) Will you be overclocking?
***
Have never overclocked anything before and its not a requirement for me.
8) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
***
Currently a 22" LG but I plan on buying a 24" a little ways down the road.
9) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
***
Over the course of the summer/fall I had planned on trying to catch some of the parts I am getting on sale. Not in a huge rush to get this put together.
10) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc.
***
Preferably USB 3.0 but other than that I'm not sure. Probably SLI support just for future.
11) Any specific must-have features? Must be able to max out Ultra-Mode? Must have 6+GB of RAM? Must have an SSD? etc.
***
Preferably be able to max out Ultra mode while maintaining a good fps
6 or more GB of RAM.
Can't think of anything else that is a must-have at the moment.
12) Are there any vendors/brands you'd specifically prefer to use?
***
nVidia
13) Are there any vendors/brands you'd specifically prefer to avoid?
***
None.
14) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit? (Note: If your current OS came with your computer, odds are that it is NOT transferable.)
***
Not Transferable.
I would like Windows 7 64bit though. -
Does anyone have any suggestions on my build?
Slotting suggestions, set slotting, powers I should take another look at?
Any comments are appreciated, being my first time playing a controller in years. -
Its been quite a while since I've played around with a Controller so I wanted to take a shot at the new Electric Control and was hoping to get some advice/suggestions on how the build/enhancement slotting looks.
I'll mostly be teaming but am hoping that especially post-pets soloing won't be too terribly tedious.
This is my first shot at using Mids too so go easy on me.

Quote:I'm not sure if I'm just being impatient or just that they are no longer watching that address very closely.
I sent an email to that address in July and still have had no response so I think the only sure way of getting it changed is via one of the mods or community reps. -
Are you sure they didn't offer you a Pre-ORDER rather than a Pre-PURCHASE?
As far as I am aware, you can only Pre-PURCHASE through the NCSOFT store and yes, the Pre-ORDERS for the Complete Collection come with special bonus items.
They will be selling a pack with the goodies that come with the Complete Collection, but this will not include the enhancements they told you about. Those are only included in the pre-ORDER deal from Gamestop.
Does that make sense or have I confused you further? lol
edit: Here is the link for what you get with the Pre-Purchase
