Quote:I guess Plantatia could have brought his /Elec Brute after all.I was playing my Elec/Elec Brute called Viscerall. Which one were you Min?
Oops...
And yes, the defensive goodness from a Spider is always a plus. I've got one holding at 32 that I plan to get back to playing now that he's moved to Justice. -
An excellent run, despite the little hiccup on the first attempt. If someone's going to die then the first mission is the time to do it.
I'm probably not going to make it next Wednesday, so good luck with Barracuda. The danger's a little more back-loaded in that one, but if you can get a similarly good set of players/characters then I could see a first-time success. -
I was more or less joking, but I read that as being one prize per in-game global name (in my case, @Redoubt and @Redoubt2).
Might be worth clarifying that before someone goes rules-lawyer. -
If some people don't get to work on the redside prizes I'm seriously going to claim one with my second account. Don't make me be cheesy, people!

Was tempted to hold out for the 500 mill, but I don't want to push my luck. -
I'm always up for a Master run, availabilty permitting.
I'll even promise not to bring my Stalker. -
If it makes you feel any better, there was no outage last night. :P
Incidentally, I'm packing for my trip tonight, so I'll probably be a little late(r). -
I would say that trolling and harassment only qualify as rational egoism if one's aptitude for rational thought is extremely poor. Or you're really sociopathic and get a lot of pleasure from making others' lives difficult.

I can confirm that Energy Drain is enough to keep you going on a DM/EA, I'd probably think about dropping Conserve Power for Overload and slotting it with Recharge/Health IOs for when you want to really maximise your survivability.
-
This is kind of a general question, but how important is it to get the Neg def to the softcap?
I was playing around with a build for my old DM/EA yesterday, and (from memory) my neg defense was still sub-40 with everything else softcapped (except Psi), presumably because my raw Energy def is much higher and didn't require much in the way of set boosts. I can't check it in Mid's right now, but I'm guessing that the above build must be over the Energy softcap by quite a bit if Neg is at the cap. -
Quote:That's been happening to me (on Justice) off and on for the last few weeks. Would be nice if it went away once the server comes back.Hey now, my character was in the vault, and I was about to log out anyway! But then suddenly there was a mapserver message. Then it was fine. Then it came up again. And that happened a few times...
You know, it's starting to sound like maybe a router or a bridge went kablooie. Oh well, but what the heck do I know!!!
My guess is that the rush of Aussies transferring their characters to Justice caused the server to run out of disk space. -

Not only am I staying, I'm shifting as many characters as possible to Justice from my previous home on Victory.

Quote:I think we graduated from "semi-unofficial" to "semi-official" when the Oceanic forum got created.Oooh I forgot to add that Justice is the semi unofficial Aussie server, so that also means that Pacific type people are here more often, and it means that shift(y) type people like Plas can also find more peeps during the wee hours.
The Aussies also have a sekrti channel somewhere with the gnomes and elves and dingos. I think it's called vegemite or sumpin like dat.
It is true, though, that Justice has a higher-than average number of people around during Australia/New Zealand peak times. Most of the people in the Australia global channel are Justice-dwellers, and we're always looking for more. Hopefully the free transfers will help to entice a few Aussies who started on another server before they realised that all the cool kids were hanging out here. -
I've been progressively moving my characters from Victory to Justice for the last year, and this is going to save me a fair bit of money.
-
Quote:Not for me. I transferred a character to Justice this morning who had the same name as an existing character on the same account, and was prompted to change the transferred character's name (for free) as soon as I logged the character into the game. I also had a name change button for him on the character selection screen (though I didn't test it).It looks like you will get a token if someone else holds that name, but if you are the owner of the name (through having an alt there already) you won't and the test server rule applies.
Not sure how to explain the difference between our experiences, but it definitely worked for me. -

Good choice, my primary Brute is SS/Elec/Mu, and he powers through +2/8 Rikti missions without a scratch. With Hasten and some +recharge you can turn on Lightning Field, run into the middle of the group and just cycle Electrifying Fences > Foot Stomp > Ball Lightning until everything's dead (which won't take long). I only need to pause for the Rage crash every couple of minutes, and I just use that as an opportunity to top up my end with Power Sink and re-apply the Immobilise (which doesn't do massive damage anyway).
I gather that Soul is a popular patron choice because negative energy does extra damage to Rikti, but I'm sticking with Mu because it has an AoE immobilise, which cuts down on runners without requiring me to jump out of the middle of the spawn to line it up. Without the Immobilise, I'd expect that more time would be spent mopping up single targets that ran out of Foot Stomp's range than would be saved by doing a little more damage with the Patron AoE. It probably doesn't make that much difference, really. -
I know of two Australian RP groups that run each week on Justice: the Extraordinary 8 on Wednesdays for heroes, and Doctor Universe Notorious College of Evil (DUNCE) on Sundays for villains. More information on both can be found on the X8's forums: http://z8.invisionfree.com/Extraordinary8/
Incidentally, I'd strongly recommend that you join the Australia global channel if you haven't already, as the MotD usually has information about events in the Australian/NZ timezones. -
Stalkers are good against Night Widows. :P

It's definitely been a major improvement over the original plan for the revised maintenance times, and knowing that we'll only have a maximum of two maintenance days in a given week is a definite boon. The fact that we'll soon have a regular event on every non-maintenance night except Saturday is a pretty good indication that the reliability of the schedule is having a positive effect on the Oceanic community, too.
The 9pm outages during winter won't be ideal, but the extra night should go a long way towards offsetting that. All in all, thumbs up from me. -
Quote:I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere. I'm just pleased to see that the Oceanic Lounge is the go-to forum for obscure examples."australian players? can only be opened if you are currently looking at Message Board Rules and Guidelines!"
