    Tanker Tuesdays

Most Excellent! I've been hoping that Liberty would go to weekly Tanker Tuesdays someday. What's better is that this coming Tuesday my ISP should be cooperating enough for me to come AND Titan Weapons release this coming Tuesday, so I guess I'll roll one of my Titan ideas as a Tank!

So either I'll bring a newly minted Titan Tank, or I can bring Storm Wrath, my lvl 53 Tank if need be. Hope to see you folks there!

@Raven Lord, who'll be even more stoked if his request for an impervium Statesman statue Titan Weapon was taken up on.

    Comic Relief

Well, first thought off the bat was that I have thought from day one of hearing about Titan Weapons that an impervium statue of Statesman would be *just perfect* for using on Lord Recluse in a States' TF. Because, you know. If *you* can't beat 'em, let *me* beat 'em WITH you. I say a statue because my first instinct was to use Statesman himself as a Titan Weapon for both irony's sakes (Zeus winning the war against the Titans.. ok, maybe that's too much of a stretch to be called ironic) as well as the fact it would make our Primal Earth Cole *much* more useful to have around...

Then I saw the super-rocker pic up above and was reminded, we need a headbang emote with 'throwing the horns' hand motion. I mean, I was REALLY dissapointed when there wasn't an emote of that in the Party Pack. Seemed a perfect fit to me, but NOOooo, just was NOT to be I guess. Fix please? I know it's not exactly comic relief but or costume idea but I thought I'd mention itt while I was reminded of it. And the times *I* would use it would be comedic. I'd try to replace some Sonic powers with that emote if I had it, too...

@Raven Lord, who agrees that Clowns Are Not Funny. (This message brought to you by the Positron Hates Clowns Foundation)
  3. I swear I recognize your name, DJ, from in-game but I have zero clue from when & where. Oh well, I'm certain I've slept since then, if you understand.

Anyways, big Welcome Back! Hope to see you in-game (again? <laughs>) sometime soon!

    @Raven Lord
  4. RavenSoul

    Much gratitude

Glad to hear it went well, I'm sorry I couldn't be there, Ukase. Hope to be there next week!

EDIT: If'n you try this on Friday after the MSR, I'll happily be there to tag along, barring military action by wild horses. And I might even stay for the Keyes, but that *might* require some arm-twisting or a bottle o' liquor...

    The 0.45%

Geronimo, well said, and I entirely agree.

For me personally, this time of year is a time of both pride and pain. Pride in my sister, a current USAF Staff Sergeant going for career, pride in those who serve today and yesterday, pride in those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us, and the US.

But, pain, too. This time of year is a constant reminder that I grew up wanting to join the Corps and serve this country as US Marine, but this wasn't possible because I was born with severe chronic asthma - a permanent bar to service. This year, I would have been in the Corps for 14 years had I joined out of High School, and it's quite possible I'd have made my life-long goal of Gunnery Sergeant by now.

And my pain this time of year isn't just for me, it is, again, also for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country and it's people, and also for those who have not come home - the MIA, possible POWs. It is also with those who have served and been wounded or killed, and their families as well.

This is, in the end, an emotional day for me, as it is every year. I urge anyone who can serve and who has thought of doing so, to serve. I urge anyone who has not served, to do like me, and thank as many of those they know who do serve for the right to be free, since freedom is NOT free.

From me, to those who have served or are doing so now, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    A smile for you!

Knockback attacks on enemies standing near a ledge. Particularly Romans on the bridges and towers in the last mission of the Imperious TF on a bad day.

Any knockup attack, whether it's me, someone else, or even a Grave Knight. Something about enemies bouncing off a ceiling and /or low level mobs achieving an all-too-short temporary orbit never fails to amuse.

Street Justice. Period. (Although I've cringed a few times, too. Rib Cracker and Shin Breaker on weak or unchallenging enemies who are getting up from prone? I kinda feel sorry for those poor ba*****s. Though sometimes I imagine the cringe on the faces of the med staff on the end of their teleport to the Zig' and THAT brings a smile to my face.)

PvP <whistles innocently> (win or lose, it sucks either way, but is still marginally fun. Like - or unlike - disco, a comeback to the good ol' days would be nice)

Using Self D', and taking a few mobs with me out of spite, awesome.

Using Self D', and taking a few leaguemates on the UG with me by accident, absolutely hilarious. (Followed by 'screw you guys I'm going home' and I think I had half the league falling off their chairs or peeing themselves. We lost, but a good time was had by all or most)

Any suitable, in-context usage of LEEEEERRRRRROOOOOOOYYYY JEEEEEENNNNNNNNNKKKiiiiiinnssss. (With the obligatory 'least I got <fill in the blank or the original 'fried chicken'>', afterwards, of course) (Although if I hear this pre-Avatar fight in a UG? NOT funny at ALL.)

Any suitably, in-context usage of, 'There is no <fill in the blank>, there is only Zuel'

Using [Power Thrust] or whatever the Blaster Energy Secondary Tier One attack is called in an Arena match versus Melee ATs, keybound to say 'Can't touch this' when it's excuted. (not my idea, saw it used, thought it was hilarious, and there has to be at least a dozen other quotes possible, that are just as funny)

Did I mention the knockup powers? Oh right. Guess that's a wrap...
  7. Kinda / sorta reposting this, but hey, I think it's worth it.

Burning a little salvage and inf occasionally to get another load of a temp power isn't so bad. I do it all the time on one of my characters, for the powers we can get as drops.
Ok, I LIKE this idea. I have a brute that went Praetorian just for the Chaingun Temp Power, and I haven't used it after all that since I hate the idea of losing it.

But, being able to pay Points for a permanently known recipe so one character of my choice can always craft more charges? No question, hush up and take mah money now! (Bonus if there are current powerset powers made available this way too. RE my signature)

That reminds me of an idea I had, what I think of as a 'Signature Power', in this case, a permanent recipe you buy for the Invention Tables, like the Lost Curing Wand, on a per-character basis. Here's how I'd work it:

1: Pay points for this power, which would be a Character Item.
2: Claim it to pull up a list of powers: Chaingun, Thunder Storm, Eagle Claw, etc, perhaps.
3: Confirm the claim, warning the player that they only get one 'signature power recipe' per character.
4: If yes, that character can now craft that temp power with the correct invention salvage and inf at any time when that character has zero charges available for it.

    Thoughts?

EDIT: Start out with some powers, with the ability to add more powers to the list over time. Just make an addition to line 3 that says 'if you have a signature power recipe already, confirming the claim of this new power will replace the old one', and that settles being stuck with one, too: whether an old recipe turns out 'blah' or a new one sounds better, you're ok.

There's only one consumable power I'll pick up, and that's the XP Booster, especially when it's on sale. Other than that, cash money for this pack's never gonna come from me. The only thing I like out of it is the Warwolf Whistle, most of the rest is at best 'blah'.

That said. I like the idea of bundling temp powers and other consumables, but not at that price. For me, if I'm going to plop down the equivalent of five USD or one months VIP stip-end, how about letting us, the players, choose the contents of the bundle? Otherwise I'll probably pass on these every time.

One last thought. How about, if you do another of these consumable bundles, you add powers into the bundle that are not available as temp powers any other way? For reference, check the #1 line in my signature for what I mean. THAT I would pay for without doubt, for certain powers.

Spewing nonsense like "Oh, I heard from somewhere that Titan Weapons isn't going to be release any time because I read somewhere some other power set that hasn't been officially been recognized at all is going to be released first" isn't remotely helpful.

Of course, unless you're naive to think that just because one piece of data shows up that the power set has been "in the game" for months is an indication anything is remotely complete. Let's not forget Street Justice's first set of data was added back in January.

Versus, say Staff Fighting, which was June-ish if I recall. And is incomplete in any builds available to outside sources.

That is the one you're referencing right? Unless, you trying to claim to the practically nonexistent MM set, in terms of data, is coming soon. Or the "We're trying to be cutesy by denying the existence of a wolf/animal MM" set routine. Since the rumored new armor set is/was still going through approval.
You know what? Since you're not even remotely interested in being open-minded, such as where you're blasting me for - somehow - not knowing things I already said I knew, I'll just call my attempt to reason with you a big mistake and move on, if that's ok with you and your anger issues?

Perhaps. I was thinking that, for future Market Releases (trying to be slightly on topic here) maybe, MAYBE, there could be paid expansion packs for more robust weapon options than what we've seen in the past. By which I mean, weapons with animations and / or sounds that are more advanced than the 'normal' ones.

Chainsaw weapons? Vanguard rifles WITH the energy bayonets? Weapon auras, IE electricity, flames, poison, etc? Seems possible to me, I know I'd plunk down cash for 'em.

Or maybe all we need is a double-handed chainsaw option - supersized for Titan Weapons / less obnoxiously sized for katanas - complete with aggravating sound loop?

I'd pay for that, or a one-handed option of the same for Dual blades and Broadsword. And maybe a big-huge-obnoxious circle saw blade for a shield option, too.

<Looks at everyone as they back away from me>

    NOW what?!?

EDIT in response to Nos482's edit:

    YAR.

It was available as a selectable power set this morning (6:45 AM CST). It behaved the same way as Street Justice did before it was enabled. It allowed you to click on the cart icon then it went to an "UNKNOWN SKU" error via the character creator.

I mean, we've only got three more Tuesdays before Thanksgiving and one of those will be the Pilgrim hat. Hopefully not just the Pilgrim hat, but with stuff like this week, I wouldn't be surprised.
Not to burst your bubble or anything but have you heard of front-loading? As in, the Titan Weapon thing today is likely a bug, though it may not be, since Titan Weapon has been in the game in an un-enabled state for several months now. So, um, sorry, but you're comment is less than helpful because you're less than informed.

As for the pilgrim hat, THAT would be cool. It's real name is 'slouch hat', no idea why, but then, I'm not THAT old, so I don't have experience in real life as to why it was called that.

There isn't one that I can see. Perhaps their was a hiccup in implementation that dropped it's release back two weeks. But as for what you said earlier and this post as well, yeah, this was a possibly great idea a day late and a dollar short.

IE: had it been released two weeks ago alongside the Halloween copstume pack this MIGHT have been better, had it also been on sale even a little for the Halloween event, it WOULD have been better.

Now, it's timing and pricing make it less than stellar. As I've said before I don't expect each week to be a home-run, but I DO hope each week isn't a strike-out, either.

EDIT @ Zwill: Hey, cool, you guys are doing pretty much what I guessed. While this may sound self-centered, that was pretty reassuring to hear that I was right. Groovy. Lookin' forward to 11 8 11 then.

Seconded. Wholeheartedly agree. Particularly on the 'misses the mark' sentiment.

Oh well. Adjust for scatter and fire again next week, I suppose.

EDIT @ Captain Moodswing: I do agree. My only dissapointment is that this is two or three weeks in a row of 'blah' releases, I'm here peddling hope that next week will be better, if anyone's buyin'.

You forgot [Self Destruct], for those annoying times when, in the middle of mowing down a pack o' zombies, one bites you in the leg, and you decide you'd rather die with style in a blaze of glory than be a zombie yourself...

Temp power, one-use. I'd consider that...

Little off topic here, but I believe it's been said around here somewhere that Titan Weapons won't be the next Powerset to be released, from what I've heard the next one is 'one we know nothing about'. What HAS been said is that Titan WILL be out this year (the '4th Quarter 2011' comment from PAX / SDCC).

Sorry, but if all that is true, you might have a longer wait than either you or I want for TW. Me, I'm hoping there's an impervium statue of Statesman as a weapon option, still. I'll keep mentioning that as long as I'm waiting for it in the hopes that it'll get added...

I beg to disagree, there. For the most part you're right, BUT (tm)? There's always been a handful of people who dislike the coolest stuff Paragon Studios has ever released. In my case, that would be the Rocket Board temp. I lit up the Beta forums about that, personally (and no, I don't regret doing so either).

I think a better way to look at it is this. Generally, if 95% of the forum-goers call something one way, either panning or praising, then that's probably a good indication of how well they've implemented something. Usually but not always.

Having been here 7+ years I will readily admit that I can't think of more than a handful of times where 100% of the CoHF Hero and Villian populations here have ever agreed on anything - if ever.

Way to look on the bright side Backfire.

But, remember, while every dark cloud does have a silver lining, lightning kills hundreds of people each year who are looking for it.
  24. Inclined to agree with Nos482, here.

And by inclined, I mean tilting my head in confusion and uncertainty at this. My first thought was: Um, ok. Really?

My second thought was that, since my computer with CoHF on it is still in storage until this weekend at the very soonest, that between this week and last week's releases being profoundly shallow and soulfully meaningless that I... 'guess'... I can be happy that I'm not missing anything beyond the ever-shrinking Halloween Event.

To be fair, I was hoping such would be the case. However, the last two or three Tuesdays have me somewhat concerned going forward. By which I mean, I'm more than a little alarmed at the total lack of substance in releases from the recent past... I sincerely hope this is temporary.

    Raven.

PS And yes, I'm aware each week will vary in it's Cool Point Ratings, not just generally but from person to person. I'm also aware that there was likely a decision made to not release anything dramatic so as not to compete with the already atrophied Halloween Event.

    BUT (tm).

This week and last were astonishing in the seeming absolute lack of anything noteworthy. I'm hoping this was only for the anemic Halloween Event period and that next week we'll be amazed again. I really am, because if not...

    <shakes head and walks off>
  25. Well, it should be apparent which Judgement powers I'm hoping for.

A mini-gun one would rock, but someone else mentioned Thunderstorms... that would be awesome too. I'm thinking Psionic-based or Radiation-based Judgements are likely, I certainly hope so.

As for Alpha, Destiny, and Interface having new powers, I've been pondering this since I heard about it from SDCC / PAX, and I must say I find the idea of remixed benefits from the existing trees to be very enticing, since the ones we have now fit perfectly with some of my incarnates but not all. So I've had to settle in the past, I hope that won't be the case Soon (tm).

Oh, and in closing, could Diamegnetic getting fixed be made priority if it isn't already? I'm already mildly steamed to have been waiting for it until now, getting more powers for Interface and finding I still want Diamagnetic on one or two of my toons would be a 'mild' Rib Cracker to the pants...
