  1. Okay, so what we need then is a single counter-example... one person who is neither a Stalker nor a Stalker hunter, and the premise is discredited, right?
  2. So what you're saying then is that PvP right now is not fun for anyone that's not a Stalker or that is not specifically hunting Stalkers?

    This isn't about not winning.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Then what's it about?
  4. I'm not your "pal".

And yeah, I use all three of them all the time. I also hospital camp, eat babies, and vote Republican.

    Ann Coulter in 2008!!
  5. [ QUOTE ]
But as long as Stalkers are allowed to use it on a moving target, OR while Double-Stealthed, OR immediately after a Placating; it becomes a staple and cheapens the image of the Stalker in everyone else's eyes.

One! Two! Three calls for nerfs! Ah ah aaaaaah!

This situation is also a problem if a 1-shot kill is possible because it is low risk for high reward. Provided the player sniped can react before the other attacks hit this is okay.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The problem with this is that everyone has different reaction times. What if I have a broken arm and have trouble hitting the Respite button? What if I'm drunk or half-asleep? What if I was in the middle of typing? What if I'm just new at the game?

Some of those are extreme examples I realize, but I think it illustrates the point that ample reaction time is going to vary quite a bit from one person to the next.
  7. That's a good start, but here's some more things that need to be done:

Stalkers take twice as much damage as they deal when they use AS.
Stalkers pay $30/month subscription fee instead of $15.
Stalkers home phone number and bank account/routing number are displayed in character info.
Everytime a Stalker logs on, God kills a kitten.
If a Stalker spends longer than 1 hour in a PvP zone, the player develops inoperable brain tumors.

That should help cut down on the one-shots a bit.
  8. That was a lot of fun. Took me a minute to figure out who could see me and who couldn't and learn to avoid them. Finally figured out that Alien Ascension and um... Mr. Something, Blaster with Whirlwind were the ones that were seeing me. Managed to take them both down and teleport away. ALMOST got Bio and ALMOST got Headgames but there were just too damned many of you to get a clean kill.

Finally got an invite to a SF so I skipped out. Lots of fun guys, hope to see you again tomorrow night.

Had I known that popping a respite or luck meant that a stalker instantly stood no chance against me, I would've carried more.

Damn the lack of "I Win" buttons in this game!
  10. [ QUOTE ]
Personally, I don't think it's possible to completely eliminate all scenarios where a defender is defeated without a chance to react. I think what is possible is the elimination of the defeat by a single attack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

*nod* I think you're right. There's just always going to be situations where a player can be killed instantly or nearly-instantly without a chance to react. Just pointing out the fact that there are similarities.
  11. *nod* I agree. And there's a hell of a lot of to-hit checks that have to take place (TP Foe and 3 mines) before the defender is killed. But still, if you're just running along headed to a mission and you see a whiteish-blue flash and the Go To Hospital button, how is that any different than getting ASed? I guarantee you the guy it happened to wouldn't find much dissimilarity.
  12. I believe Statesman's criterion when he commented on the one-shot issue was that it eliminated player interaction. The defender had no role in the kill.

That's the case when you're TP Foed into caltrops and mines. There's no chance of interaction by the defender, they're immediately killed. So yeah, by that criterion it's a one-shot.
  13. Captain Voltaic.

Wait, that's my 50 on Protector. nm
  14. BTW Arc, we'll do that again whenever you like. In fact, catch me one night when I'm teamed with Iltat too. That'd be a REALLY fun team.
  15. Yeah, I'd have healed him or buffed him or something but unfortunately I didn't pick the Empathy stalker primary.

My recommendation is not to let your wife buy pumpkin-flavored beer for Thanksgiving unless she intends to drink it all.

Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale? I love that stuff. Got half a sixpack in my fridge right now.
  17. My response to "take it to the arena" would be "you take it to Warburg or bloody bay". There are two other open PvP zones if someone is uninterested in fight club. Our alternative isn't nearly so attractive.

So we take Fight Club to the arena. We sit around in the building and decide on a match. Those two people join an event. Everyone else joins as spectators. We sit and watch the countdown, then everyone has to zone. Then we sit and watch them fight each other over and over for the duration of the match or until they both agree to hit the Quit button. Then everyone has to zone back. Then we do it again. We'd get about 3 matches before it'd get annoying and no one would want to do it anymore.

Alternatively, we do it on the roof in Siren's Call. Everyone stands there and behaves themselves while we set up as many as three matches at a time. Specators can watch all three matches in real time, and when one person is the victor, the match is immediately over and a new one can start right away.

It's obviously a matter of convenience. If it's inconvenient for the one or two people in this thread who have a problem with FC to get their bounty, then it's also fair to say that it's inconvenient for the 30 people who want to participate in FC to go to the arena. In other words, it's just not going to happen and any complaining on the subject is wasted breath. We're not stopping and we're not moving but you're MORE than welcome to join us whenever you like. In fact, I'm especially disappointed to see Dinah complaining about it since I was under the impression that she'd be joining us.
  18. He's more than welcome if he'll just show up at the right times.
  19. That's why we have three separate "rings" in which matches can take place. When one of those "unspottable force meets immovable object" fights takes place, we just set up another fight in ring 2.

Last night was the first time we had so many participants that we actually had to open up the third ring, which speaks to how successful last night's Fight Club was. It was incredible. You had spectators flying up several yards so they could watch all three matches at once. Made me wish I had Flight.
  20. Always a pleasure. Unfortunately it didn't seem like it was going to happen tonight so I gave up on it and did some missions in Warburg. Hopefully I didn't miss anything.
  21. Well cutlass, you pointed out the problem yourself...

rather camp the villian base, fight my Most Wanted, only to have him run back to the saftey of the drones. Not Fun

    [/ QUOTE ]

Having a Most Wanted that you can't collect on because he won't leave the base isn't fun for anyone. That's the root of quite a bit of the base invading in Siren's Call.

In fact, any time you've seen me anywhere NEAR the hero base it's to collect on a bounty that's hiding in there. If it's someone I can one-shot I just waltz right in there, AS them, and let the drones give me a free trip back to my base. If it's anything else, I stand outside the base and TP the target out. Either way, I have no desire to sit around for what could end up being hours (seen it happen) waiting on a bounty to decide to leave the base.

In fact,w hen you saw me in the hospital, I'd just walked inside long enough to acquire a target lock on my bounty. I walked back outside, TPed him out, and collected. I wouldn't have had to do it if they weren't my bounty and I weren't stuck with them.

Some sort of system where your most wanted is changed every 10-15 minutes would go a long way toward fixing that problem. Then, rather than go through the trouble of getting my bounty inside your base, I'd just find something else to do to occupy my time for a few minutes until my bounty cycles. *shrug* Just a suggestion.
  22. That's the beauty of Fight Club though, you're not likely to have three holds stacked on you from a single opponent. I've definately seen it happen, but it's not really a common occurence.

AFAIK, I haven't been held yet in a Fight Club match.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Oh yeah! Got to see Quason run at Superspeed off the roof during a match. As he put it, he had to take a break because the fall was for 800,000 damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I forget who I was fighting... an SR Scrapper I think. I had SS on and hit follow. He was right at the edge and moved aside just as I reached him. I launched off the building like a missile, and a controller started attacking me when I landed. =/

It's becoming an epidemic. I fell off the building twice last night too. Is there like, any possible way we could hold fight club on the freakin ground tomorrow night?
  24. Siren's Call Fight Club is becoming a nightly thing. Personally, I couldn't be happier about it but I'd love to see more Villains showing up. Tonight, it was mostly me and Prev alternating fights, which was fun, but I'd like to have seen some fights with different CoV ATs.

I managed to kill SovereignSavior once, then lose to him in the rematch. That broadsword just freakin hurts.
  25. Well, the post he was replying to was one that was disparaging toward people who kill people who've just used an awaken.

There are a dozen legitimate reasons for doing that. I've done it myself on more than one occasion. For example, you're in a pitched team vs team battle, and the person using the awaken is a key member of the team that you really need to stay down, such as an empathy defender, in order to defeat the rest of the team. And that's just one scenario, there are plenty of others.

And honestly, and I'm getting on shaky ground here I realize, is it an intelligent move to use an awaken in an open PvP zone anyway? Here you are, target to any number of opponents, standing around in open PvP with 25% HP, zero endurance, and disoriented. Isn't that just asking to be killed again?

*shrug* I've let people up when they used awakens. And I've killed others, depending on the circumstances. Point being, there's absolutely nothing other than one's personal moral code preventing them from killing the rezzing player. And personal moral codes are just that... personal.
