Do you care about people who play the market as part of their fun in the game? Do you have a plan if you're wrong and the Pool C market dries up?
[/ QUOTE ]
While the likely possibility of market dry-up does bother me,
a LOT, I don't know why the developers would be obligated to
care about "playing the market." While it could be argued as a
perhaps-unavoidable side effect of having one, I sincerely
doubt the market was ever intended to serve the function of
a mini-game.
And I doubt this'll do anything to prevent the kind of salvage
flipping that makes supply dry up for random periods of time,
and severely irritates the players just trying to make an IO,
anyway. If anything, it'll intensify it, since salvage will become
the dominating market interest. So it wouldn't be going away.
It would just be shifting focus. -

A: The intention of the system was to also give players who dont tend to run Task Forces and Strike Forces the chance at earning the same high end rewards as players normally running Task Forces, however at a diminished rate. This gives player an opportunity to earn rewards they normally would not have had access to outside of the Black Market/Wentworths.

The main part about the Merit system that had me excited,
was increased parity between TF hounds, and players like
myself, who prefer to solo/duo most of the time.
I really, *really* don't like TF/SF/Trials. I've run the
majority of them at least once, and once is usually
enough for me to decide I don't want to do them again.
I haven't done one yet, that has been entertaining enough
to me, to overcome the monotony(what *I* find to be
monotony, yes) of med-large teams.
I accepted that this placed me at a disadvantage in terms
of rewards, as TF/SF/Trials were the sole distributer of
many desirable recipes, and relegated myself to having to
work hard to gain the neccesary INF to purchase them on
market.
Now that this is no longer true, though, and TFs are not
the sole venue of distribution, is there a reason for
this concept of "diminished rate," when many story arcs,
particularly high level ones, are almost indistinguishable
from a Task Force, save for the mandatory team size that
must be met to begin the latter? -

It looks like the update was to bring CoH's website in line with that of Tabula Rasa -- one company, one look. To me, the main differences are largely cosmetic -- TR's site has little flags in the top right for the international sites, CoH's doesn't (probably an oversight -- there should be a link to the EU stuff up there); CoH's middle column is wider and right side column is skinner than TR's; TR's site has a search field in the left column.
But the two sites look /very/ similar now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hm, yeah, pointed out they do.
TR's design looks much better though, because of the better
eye for smooth color-blending, transparency, and graphic
sizing.
Really, CoH looks like something I would've done with basic
HTML back in 1998 right now. =/ -
Can't say I approve. It doesn't really look very nice aesthetically,
and poorly imitates the simple-but-functional effectiveness of the
old version.
The "blockiness" of the graphics used looks full of seams, very
unnatural and rough, and the choice of an image background,
makes them contrast very poorly with it, like a bad cut and
paste job.
The news feed needs to be at the top somehow, like the old
version provided. Pushing it down to make room for the
"LEARN MORE" part is bad design.
Is this a work in progress, or the final version? Because it
looks very alpha right now. -

But it being $10 for one respec really puts me off to the whole idea.
[/ QUOTE ]
I really have to wonder what kind of jobs people have that ten bucks seems like a big deal. Or are they approaching this from the "Damn I'd like to respec six times a month, and that's way too much?" position?
[/ QUOTE ]
Some people disagree with such things on principle, not
personal finances.
Can I afford $10? Yes. Would I consider $10 for a respec to be
a fair price for this service, if I needed it? No. Therefore, I
wouldn't use it even if I wanted/needed it. I'm not that
impatient and wasteful of real money.
You don't have to be unable to afford something, to find it
overpriced and not worth its pricetag. -

And it's really a drag when I hook up with a team and suddenly they're off doing something and I'm typing away, "Wait, where'd everyone go?" and trying to figure out what they're doing. About 5 minutes later someone'll send back, "Oh, sorry, we're all on vent."
[/ QUOTE ]
I wish that scenario wasn't as familiar to me as it is. Hate it.
The only real issue I have with this, is that "optional" is
sometimes less than so. When enough people pick something
up, optional has a nasty way of turning into "optional...but if you
want to actually play with other people, required."
I doubt CoX'll turn into that after all this time. People already
have their play habits ingrained. But never know what can
happen. -

What's a voice font? Is it something the Pocket D patrons can use to pretend to be a girl?

Coming soon - City of Chipmunks.
And Dr. Brainstorm will be revealed to have, in reality, been
Dr. Sbaitso all along. -
I was so happy to see this. After the "Bend me over and call me Oliver!"
pricing of renames, transfers, and the wedding pack, this is awesomely
reasonable.
Thanks guys.
