The monster hunt on Union started off initially just to go all out and defeat Lusca in IP.
However, buoyed by success Lusca was defeated 3 times and we had a quick go at the ghost ship before the assembled heroes made their way to Croatoa to defeat Eochai twice and Jack in Irons.
We then undertook a fruitless search of Dark Astoria for Adamaster before ransacking Boomtown and defeating Babbage. After that it was a quick journey to Kings Row to lay waste to the Paladin...
So was a pretty fun evening and a lot of people got nice shiney badges that they hadn't had before
Pictures can be found here
The only lvls you need to really be aware of is that you need to be lvl 21 and above to enter Dark Astoria! -
Given the success of the monster hunt on Union on Saturday night... would there be interest in 100% stealing the idea (I have no shame) and doing the same on Defiant?

Usualy its a view held by people who are poor team players and suffer from the "Me" syndrome. This game is about "Me" this team exists for "Me", you will all support "Me" so "I" can have fun.

never a truer word said... not great people to team with the majority of the time! -
was a good fun monster hunt, got some nice shiney badges and some debt... always good

Well, it probably comes down a lot to playstyle...
Siphon Speed and Inertial reduction can serve you quite happily as a travel power, but they do have their drawbacks. You need a mob to siphon speed off - and in some zones this might mean you have to siphon of enemies that are higher lvl than you and could end up with a faceplant or twoInertial reduction requires you to activate it, and I know some people don't like having to click a power in order to travel as occasionally it might see you falling out of the air on to a dangerous mob below...
I've got three kinetics toons. My defender has superspeed and hover as well as siphon and inertial reduction. I was taking haste anyway so superspeed was an easy pick and I took hover to give some knockback protection (and I dint want to go down the route of picking three powers from leaping).
My kinetics controller on the other hand lvled from 1-27 with fly which I then respecced out and kind of replaced with inertial reduction (admittedly I had to get to 28 before I picked it though). After this point she had no other travel power other than Siphon Speed (on auto) and Inertial Reduction. This worked very well for me and I never really had any problems getting around, the fact that it was unsupressed after attacking was an added bonus. I didn't even bother with knockback protection... -
I remember being on some pretty good teams on my stormy after being asked if I could come and heal the team.

Sure I have Twilight Grasp, but it's never going to be as effective as an Empath's heals.
[/ QUOTE ]Actually, it's more powerful.
[/ QUOTE ]
being more powerful doesn't necessarily make it as effective though
It still needs you to hit to heal and you can't target someone who needs a quick heal without running up and standing near them and hoping they don't run away. In most low lvl PuGs I would say that makes it pretty ineffective compared to an empath who, as someone says above, could be played by a cat at the low lvls to make an effective difference -
Hi Flush,
I would join the Forumites global channel.. can sometimes get some good teams from the peeps that are regular in there...
Also, you can send me a tell in game, am currently teaming a little above your lvl but there are usually SK spaces available -

Personally, Id loose the Nova for this - I never like Nova's on Defenders but hey ho.
[/ QUOTE ]
I can kinda see why novas and defenders don't match that well but I would have thought TA/Electric would be one of those sets where taking the nova is never really going to harm how you play... given that the nova is ranged and a TA defender doesnt have to maintain their endurance to keep any toggles running... just means they have to swallow a few blues after setting it off. -
nice picture, the skirt and the fishnets look really good
-
I have a TA/Dark (tech origin for igniting my oil slick once I get that far) and it's unbelievably fun
Lay down all the debuffs then trap all the enemies with my Tentacles... as long as I keep cycling the targets then the accuracy debuff from dark keeps me pretty safe. -
wow, a minor operation and 3 weeks stuck at home playing COH afterwards... you seriously struck gold with that!

or especially for TA. Ta / Sonic is a damage resist debuffing monster.
[/ QUOTE ]
would be a nice combo.
I wonder if the animation time on some of the sonic attacks coupled with the draw time for the bow makes it annoying set to play? Anyone tried it?
(Rad/Sonic is a good set tho, have one of those at lvl 28, and it feels quite powerful once the toggles are up and running) -
Cyas Dearch... was fun fighting against you in Sirens (no really, it was, I loved being all ice cubed). And with your blaster Satron
Take care out there! -

If you pick sonic, be prepared to be a bit of a leper as around a quarter of the playerbase are extraordinarily averse to the SFX.

It's only on the Sonic Resonance powerset though isn't it? Certainly I have problems with that headache-inducing-powerset but Sonic Blast is fine... -
I have to admit the replies here have got me excited about getting to 38 and trying it out now. It better be worth the wait
-
Maybe I'll take haste at 35 then and Total Focus at 38 and see if I can fit amplify in somewhere in the 40's. I imagine the epics are... useless-ish?
-
TA is quite targetted though isn't it, so I can imagine that it would sometimes be hard to use effectivly in the PvP zones. Might be better on the smaller Arena Maps?
Personally I've had a fair amount of fun playing both my storm and my kinetic defender in the PvP zones. They do need a reasonable team to survive though and they have to keep moving or they die pretty quick -
Raz: Oh.. I have the nuke
I would never drop that is far too fun
Hammer: I don't really play at range very much because I like to be in close to use Shout and the cone attacks... I do like energy punch tho... nice and quick to use... -
I just hit 32 with my Sonic Blast/Energy Manipulation blaster and I'm trying to think what powers to take next. I always had it pretty clear in my head what powers I wanted but after taking my nuke (which I love!) I'm now having to rethink the build slightly...
The problems with the build are that 1) I don't have haste and I think the recharge may be handy and 2) I don't have Amplify (not really sure how this hasn't made it into the build yet).
So, I've got two choices. Slot those two powers in at 35 and 38 or respec and try and remove something out of the build to make room for one or even two of the powers.
If I took them at 35 and 38 my worry is that I'm missing a great attack in Total Focus (I'm not worried about losing out on boost range as I'm never far enough away from the mobs to worry about needing a little more range). So... how good is Total Focus? I've only had the power for an afternoon on my Stone/EM tank, but I respecced it out as I felt it was too slow in a Stone Tanks attack chain (plus the animation time left me hanging in the air when I could have been taunting). Will Total Focus on a blaster get me killed more often than not as I run through the slow animation?
For the record my build is:
All the sonic powers except the first attack (Shriek) and Amplify
Power Thurst, Energy Punch, Build Up, Bone Smasher, Conserve Power from Energy Manipulation
Fitness (Swift, Health, Stamina)
Leaping (Combat Jumping, Super Jump, Acrobatics) -
I remember doing a test... when I was stacking 3 x siphon speeds and a controller was throwing speed boost on me Hasten was perma (as far as I remember anyway, we did the test just after ED hit).
-
Please could you add:
Hallucinate Illusion/Empath Controller -
Gratz Hammer, I did wonder if you would ever tear yourself away from PvP for long enough to make it to 50... but you managed it! Well done
-
well... I'd like to see it get done as well, but not with the bug still there so I think it's best to postpone...
