OOOwww. I had no idea the wings would take so much time to ink.
Update!
Oh, and you guys are too good! -
OK, the inks for the body have come together pretty well! Next up is costume pieces etc....
Mystery! -
Thanks everyone! Things are moving along pretty well now. Soon It'll be time to add the rocks and feathers and spines and stuff.

What's up with his right leg?? If that's his thigh then it's a little out of proportion with his left leg.

Hmmmm. My wife's not likin' that either. I thought it was ok, just very rough atm. The idea is that his right leg is bent at the knee and folded back. Maybe that's not coming across because the image is still really vague or maybe it's drawn poorly. I'm struggling with the perspectice of his left leg atm but when I get everything the way I want it I'll clean the image up and add some muscles and then you guys let me know if the leg need more work. Thanks for the comments! -
WELL!! This is going through some dramatic changes! I started off unhappy with the left leg and started changing things. One thing led to another and he doesn't resemble the reference shot at all now. I do, however like him a good bit more. I have a friend who can sit down and whip out these type of high perspective poses one the first try. Not so with me. More dynamic this way I think.
Mystery!
The feet will be tough for me though. Have to break out some comics and see how they should be handled. -

Hehe silly kitty you were there.

VERY rough draft ready to go to PS. The figures layout is pretty dramatically different from the screenie as you can see but that's ok. I will be updating much slower this time around. Last time I really got into the spirit of things and almost obsessed over the image. I don't want to become so preoccupied with this one so I will make myself go a bit slower.
Anyway here's the start!
Thanks for looking and ANY comments or criticisms are more than welcome. I see several areas that need addressed here already. Most notably the toons left foot is way wrong. And, oh yeah, I WILL gripe about the hands in this pic too. -
Well I'm gonna try it again. I had a great time with the last wip thread abd you guys were really supportive so I want to do another. Once again I have taken a reference shot of my tank here.
The thing is, this pic isnt going to be of my tank. It's of someone else's character who regularly browses these forums. Hopefully it will become clear who it is as the pic progresses. Until then...
It's a mystery!

Hehe I know you guys are sick of looking at this painting by now but I figured I'd throw this up here too. Thanks for looking!

Last update for a bit. I touched up the highlights on the abs and moved away from the black for a bit.

Color update!
Coming along ok. I definately like the lower body more than the upper. I think the highlighlights on the abs are too pronounced and seem odd looking. Ill revisit that area later after the rest is further along. Thanks for all your great comments! -

I'm guessing it's one of those effects that are rendered by Photoshop itself if you have the right plug-ins.

Exactly so. The flame is a filter called smoke that I applied then used the channel mixer to tweak the color on.
