Anything with range can hoverblast. As long as you're in range for that power. The hover is a form of mitigation and also allows you to see better. Hoverblasting coupled with targeting through folks, to keep aggro off you and to save their rears at times, is excellent mitigation. If you can't escape aggro, you'll have to switch to ST and target through the tank, which is boring. AoE FTW.
/Energy has boost range and boost power, which can be nice if you have good secondary effects, but ironically Energy/ has kb like nobody's business and it is an art to playing that AT.
There are two schools of thought as to damage mitigation. I mentioned the hoverblaster aspect, which is not considered a big debate, but I build for recharge. Permahasten is easy and if you team you might as well be more powerful than any two other team members. Heck, why not. And once you've hit ED on your damage slotting, the only way for more damage is to speed up.
The other set, and they are the most vocal here, are people who build for defense, tanks with range. If you are going to build for defense, obviously SL is best. Range is good. But why would I want some slow, ranged tank? -
Haven't read all the stuff sine the beginning of the second page...
The new griefing is AE Babies on BAF.
I just wrote half a long rant, but it was getting all fired up, so I quit. -
Do you want a challenge with an AT that has issues? I'd suggest anything with kb. And if you've never done MA/ Scrapper, it's kinda neat.
I'd like some new, crazy AT where I could have Dual Pistols/Martial Arts. They could call it the Faceplant AT. Your special inherent would be a rez with a 30 second recharge.
Back on topic. My thoughts go to the most unfarmy stuff due to your history. If you've never played Katana, it's neat. Fire blasting, I'm sure you've done that, I love it paired with ice.
I've always wanted to make a Dark/Dark defender, but it's just not my thing. I'm currently digging my ice/dark tank, and I think I'm going to give up on my AR/Ice blaster.
I'm going through an ice phase, now that I look at my ATs.
Praetoria with a corruptor? -

I got Turg'd by the Turg on Monday's raid.
I'm watching the whole league's health bars, rushing to help/rez their sorry ***** when Turg faceplants somewhere. I click his name, follow, and start bouncing out of the dish. Waaay out of the dish. Almost off the side of the ship. As I get there, he is teleported away. I start rushing back to the safety of the bowl but die about 50 feet short.
[Fortunately 7/8 on my team were Frads w Mutation, so I just said Halp and one showed up asap] -
Just though I'd throw this up here since I just made it for myself. For anyone thinking of switching out toons at different times, the level range of the TF is listed above them. Just a mod of E's list:

Stop the Pact
(Corrupter Badge)
Defend the War Walls
(War Wall Defender Badge)
35-39
The Arrival of the Oranbegans
(Frontline Badge)
They Call Me the Doctor
(The Doctor's Ally Badge)
40-44
Nemesis Weather Control
(Meteorologist Badge)

I Lost My Daddy!
(Rescuer) -
I'd like in with Saltier. I've never run this, as I'd remember Invincible anybody. Unless we just killed him when I ran it.
-
I think the best name I ever came up with was Roadhouse Tony Blaze, who is a sideshow style Fire Blaster. I don't play him much as my main is a fire/ice.
I think I've settled on a name for my new alt.
I tend to try to get words that sound good together. I might fill a page with words that I like during the day and then try to fix them together. Candyjet, Saltier, Betty Forever, Trixi Chalk, and what I think I'll name my AR/Ice is Fix Peppery. Yeah, I know, doesn't make any sense, but once it's a name, it's a name. -
Set me on auto, please.
I can lead teams on stuff I've run before or simple stuff. I'd have to look up how to deploy people on stupid, multi-zone hunts. And I will not play the Shadow Shard. I hate that place and will not play it. [Maybe]
I'm bringing up an ice tank who's in his 20s now. My few 50s are scrappers and my main, a blaster, which is the only one getting incarnated out currently. I've got some controllers who are slowly creeping to 50, but are rarely played.
I'm thinking the Frad team might start running Horde content. But it's mostly Tidbit and Hyperstrike's call on that. "I have no authority in that matter" as I say at work.
My only weakness is I totally suck at caves, and my old 9600 GSO graphics card, which will be remedied in the near future, if nothing around the house breaks and takes my money from me in an unenjoyable fashion. -
Just wanted to throw this in, I've never been on a Hami raid. The only thing of Hami I've seen is the "weakened" one in LGTF.
-
My biggest problem with my toons is finding the right name. I'm not very good at it and have deleted tons of alts in the 20s due to what I consider to be lousy names. And most of the time I think of something, it's taken. I'm also not the kind that would do ".:SuperHeroName:." type stuff.
Is there a thread, or forum, or whatever to help people get ideas? -
Quote:I'm not good at that either but there are plenty of world clock sites or an app for your phone. I have a relative in the UK so I can see it on skype.Just wondering though - what time is 6pm PT in British Summer Time (BST). I am never any good at figuring this out :S
When I used to play the strategy game Neptune's Pride, I'd use this site a lot. -
Quote:And down for 10 sec is not a big deal if you're heavy in a fight, as generally my hasten is trying to activate itself while I'm chaining stuff and not letting it, which is probably a false economy, but I tend to just watch it sit there for a while with it's green ring while I keep taking care of business.Funny thing is I was looking at my build and I could if I wanted to give up flight I could pick up hasten, move 1 slot over from drain psyche, and have just 10 seconds downtime on it. That would put my recharge about equivalent with the build Postagulous posted while still maintaining my current damage output.
I'm thiinking the best way to improve damage is currently the reactive interface radial t3+. 75% fire dot proc all the time. Hopefully, I'll run BAF enough this week to get the incarnate salvage I need. [I run baf regardless because I really don't dig lambda.] -
Even though +6.25% rech are coming out of the woodwork on most blasters, my gun drone is a mule for the 4 enh from the rech based pet set. That frees me up for Thunderstrike in something.
I forget I have it, but I always take it in respecs. And my AR/Dev definitely wins in the most respecs ever dept. -
Nothing real. I can't do mids w/o a datachunk while I'm at work so I can't check the endurance usage. I tend to take the +20% perception unique in Rectified Reticule and the tohit which gives, I think 2.5% melee and the perception too. I'd throw Winter's gift in. But on my main I don't even have the Winter's Gift and it doesn't matter.
-
Quote:I didn't "brain-fart." How do I have 10 vmerits if I don't have the ability to get them? In any case, vmerits are worthless except for big robots.Unfortunately one of my guys brain-farted and hadn't gotten the Vanguard badge. And we'd made time for another player to do it already...
And, man, did my normal Fire/rad role chance during this. I'm used to burning up everyone's face and stomping on the ashes. Last night I was a health bar watcher, springing to the needy and healing/rezzing them.
Probably the best orchestrated raid I've been on, as I've only done pug raids where there's always at least 20% headed back from the hospital. According to Herostats, if it had lasted another 24 minutes I would have hit level 49. [on a character which is probably one of my least favorites. In fact, I haven't trained since 46.] -
Obviously caltrops + aim + rain (w reactive total radial conversion) + ball is an opener that is mighty, mighty tasty.
On my AR/Dev I find the only thing I use are the drones & cloak. I'm going to respec her, she's stalled at 43 since I love my fire/ice and am badging/incarnating her up right now.
I'm a recharge freak, so I get my other defense powers to LotG w the invis pool, go Spiritual alpha, etc.
I took my fire/ice's as-built and changed it to a /dev real quick. Kept my accolateds on and alpha, so you can turn that off if you want to see the slotting values w/o that.
[Edit: Just realized I broke the rule of fives on the 6.25% rech. I'd fix that with an oblit in something that didn't need endurance, though I don't have issues with end due to the unique. And before anyone says it, yes, I know the fly in fly is doing nothing.]
My opinion is that /dev is like /ice. You take it so you can not feel bad about dropping the powers you don't want so you can get mules for recharge. Salty has a pretty cheap build, in some ways. I keep stalling on switching her to oblits and I'm planning on getting rec friend in there.

I'll show up with Saltier again.

Not sure about the gripe on RoA time, as usually you're waiting for someone to bunch 20+ dudes into a bunch before hitting the build-ups and firing it. And the set-up for the slaughter takes longer than the cast time.
-
Unless you'll be the standard /energy blapper, I don't see anything that /energy offers to fire/ besides the Boost Range for Blaze and BoF. And BR and Blaze would rock, really.
The nail that would keep me from making a fire/energy is that Power Boost would be wasted. Fire is not a secondary effect and thus won't get boosted, and all we've got is fire.
I don't build for defense. RotP is up more often than I ever use it, and that's good enough. Not like I have ten toggles or anything, death doesn't matter. -
Take everything in Fire, I don't know anything about Mental, and then get the fire epic for the RotP.
Generally, when I search, I'll pick a unique power name that won't be skipped in a build from the primary and secondary and search on that. Like "Blaze Subdual."
That said, Fire more guides for it's primary than any other primary. Mental, dunno, but you can find every build thread by searching for "subdual" in the blaster forum. Most people don't use the word in everyday talk, so it's easy that way. -
Luna, Team 2 could be the non-hardcore badgers, but I'd still like to run Master Of on it for practice.
I'd consider it practice, and it'd take a lot of the pressure off me. Heck, I'm a blaster on MoLGTF? That doesn't sound good.
