Now I'm wishing that I'd made a blaster or something with super flashy powers. Issue 16 is looking pretty darn cool from what I've played with.
I did mix up Suss's animations so they're different in and out of costume, but it doesn't produce the kind of WOW factor that I felt when I changed my Rad/Kin Corruptor to all golden white, or my Fire/Fire Dom to any of the many awesome options. -
Just a note that I'm going to miss Villain Thursday 8/13.
This is the time of year when I'm outof town quite a bit. the next couple Mondays look good but If I don't show and it's not after Labor Day, just assume I'm out of town. -
I'm just trying out the new boards. Excited to play tonight. See you guys then!
-
I believe everyone is still 10-12.
-
So only two showed last night, so villains didnt make much progress.
-
I think the three here in Missouri were thinking today (the 2nd) to start. The first 10 or so levels go so fast that's not insurmountable if today is bad for some who will want to catch up for next week.
1. I don't think kb will be an issue to worry about. It makes things more exciting. I know I was really thinking of doing storm summoning but I didn't want to do another MM or Corruptor.
2. When you said SS/SR brute, I was expecting Ryu or Bruce Lee or something.
3. Nin/Nin Stalker is just so obvious it took a lot for me to not just default to it. I did a dominator in order to leave melee spots open to others. -
I think I got to 27 last night. I beleive the plan was to do thr Ernesto Hess TF next week...kind of sad you guys won't be there.
As far as the villain thing we were talking about, I'd say Thursday at about 630 CST on Justice. Remember: villains, in some way related to a japanese theme. My roomate mike is planning a Sumo-like brute, I'm doing a Sailor Moon-like Dominator, probably. It would be sad if no one tried the obvious Ninjitsu Stalker or Ninjas Mastermind, but of course there's no mandates. I'm expecting Street Fighter character look alikes, Ash Ketchums, geishas, samurai, schoolgirls, whatever.
This will be much looser than the Avengers of Justice, mainly because I don't want that responsibility. However, if you want to level up a villain then we're likely to stick with it for a while and it's easier if you've got a regualr group. -
With relation to Doc's recent genericization troubles, I found the following interesting:

Pliska's Journal, May 18, 2009:
Coming home from work wondering, "what am I going to do tonight for fun?"
"Oh wait! It's Monday! AoJ time! Sweet!" -
It would be awesome if they scheduled the release to coincide with the openning of the Omega Team time capsule, which should happen at the end of this year, right?
Maybe that's better timing for Isseu 16 instead. I can't think of how the time capsule and Preatorians could be linked. -
I'm assuming you all saw this: http://www.cityofheroes.com/goingrogue/?
Probably more than a year away, but exciting. -
RE: MA arcs.
Yes, arc ID is great but I don't remember mine off hand. You can also look it up by author, which is their global. That's how I found Lightson's. This is also convenient because I'm guessing all of us are on each other's global friends. -
I tried Dark Rising on two different toons. The lowbie one couldnt get past the first spawn but my 50 Brute did relatively fine up until the last AV. It was one of those standoffs where he wasnt hurting me but I wasnt hurting him either.
I have only three comments:
1) Maybe think about toning down the Priests and/or the Elementalist. The Elementalists were especially difficult. That one toon that couldnt get past the first spawn was because it had two priests and the healing was greater than the damage that my lvl 7 scrapper could dish out. With mine its pretty difficult but I know I toned down a couple lieutenants just to make it less frustrating.
2) It looks like you published the story twice. Remember you can edit a published mission and then 'republish' Just saying.
3) I like the look of your critters. I was pleasantly surprise to have He Man (or I guess maybe Faker) helping in the last mission, but mainly I liked the look on the aliens. Not a big deal. -
That is a tough one. Because I don't like to exclude people, I would lean toward the recruit a few more and have enough for two teams. Ideally we would mix and match each week so that we aren't two seperate teams.
I think there could be issues, of course, but the alternative bothers me a little.
Not strong feelings, just my input. -
Seconded on all counts.
-
Looks awesome light.
Since you asked for input:
1) can you resize the picture a little smaller maybe? I don't know what the cause is but I had to h-scroll to see the right side of the page.
2) How much freedom do you have on that thing? I'd love to see profile pages or a profile page with a little blurb and a portrait of each member. If you can only link then I have a few ideas...
EDIT: Duuh. After posting this now I see the stories and screenshots you added, too. Great work! -

I also ran one of D's created missions last night, I think we might be in trouble.

I've been trying to find out how to make missions easy enough to be hard but still doable. I haven't started working on how to use the story options yet.
I'm really having a lot of fun, and I would recommend anyone remotely interested try it out. It's a really great feature. -
Had to change the name of a character whose last name was 'Whitman' (common spelling, as in Walt Whitman) because the word 'hitman' in "profane."
Apparently there's a DC character that uses that as a name. -
Finally got the test client up and running, and I have one thing to say:
You guys are all dead.
The MA is awesome but it's really easy to make missions that are WAY harder than normal, and not just beacue of beefed up bosses and AVs. I made one with minions that I simply could not complete because they were kicking my butt so bad.
Also the mix and match of objectives and triggers seems to have a lot of potential for more interesting scenarios.
I can't wait.
EDIT: If any of you are on the Training room, look for missions published by Skojar....that's me.
One in particular is pretty fun I think. It's called "A Thugerrific Showdown" and of course features my Thugs Mastermind. I finally managed to tune it so that it wasn't impossible but could still kill my 50 Brute if he got stupid or unlucky. I would appreciate the feedback. -
Having interweb issues lately...barely on now...If I get disconnected from the game or dont show that's why. I'm not dissing you guys.

Hero Name: The Directrix
Real Name: Helen Ambriel
Identity: Officially known, unpublicized
Occupation: Police Negotiator, Liason
Age: 34
Height: 5'9"
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Red
Celebrity Look-Alike: Alicia Witt
Power Sets/AT: Mind Control/Sonic Resonance Controller
Origin (Natural): A gifted police negotiator, Helen Ambriel was doing a lot of good for the city in her official capacity, but was eventually driven to take on a secret identity and tackle tasks beyond the authority granted by her badge. She was quickly caught up in the struggles of a fledgling super group.
When her activities were finally discovered by her superiors, rather than disciplining her they determined to improve public relations by making her heroic identity an official representative of the department. She was transfered to a new task force and assigned to the role of the police liason to the Avengeres of Justice.
The stress and effort required to keep up with companions wearing power armor and gifted with supernatural powers has honed her skills far beyond what would seem to the human potential, but despite the incredible results the fact remains that she employs nothing more than a well trained voice and an uncanny understanding of how and why people do what they do and the ways in which feelings can be manipulated for the better.
Hero Name: Susurrance
Real Name: Sarah "Whitman"
Identity: Secret. She has prepared a false identity to fulfill her assignment, but even she does not know her true family name or the circumstances of her early childhood.
Occupation: Assassin
Age: Unknown, apparently early twenties
Height: 5'4"
Eyes: Black
Hair: Brown
Celebrity Look-Alike: Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes
Power Sets/AT: Martial Arts/Willpower Scrapper
False Origin (Natural): Distraught by the death of her family at the hands of Crey, Sarah Whitman swore to devote her life to vengance. She undertook an intense physical training regiment and dove full time into the search for the villains behind the massacre. Eventually, her research led her to track down the origins of several unique technologies employed, which brought her to confront the Avengers of Justice. She was quickly overpowered, but to her surprise, those she believed to be her enemies wanted only peace. They explained that the armor and weapons they employed were stolen by Crey and that they, too, fought against that common enemy. Finally convinced of their virtue, she registered with ELITE and requested a probationary membership in the AoJ.
True Origin (Natural): A highly trained and ruthless operative of the Spectre Legion, Sarah was raised from childhood for unflinching obedience and deadly skill. She has been assigned as a sleeper agent among the heroes of Paragon City by a myserious customer offering far more than the standard price for such services and requesting her specifically. Her instructions are to ingratiate herself with the Avengers of Justice and fight by their side, all the while awaiting further instructions from the Legion. Knowing that they were drawn together by their common victimhood at the hands of the Crey Corporation, she crafted a false identity especially designed to elicit their sympathy and contrived to encounter them in a way that was most likely to lead to her acceptance as a provisional member. -
Happy Birthday?
Mine is tomorrow. -
Mondays are best for me.
Also, I'd decided back when getting the fancy new costume that the Department had caught on to Directrix's off-duty activities and, inspired by the earlier success of Blue Steel, instituted a police-sponsored hero pilot program. If anyone was thinking of a police theme for their generation 2 character they could tie in through that program. -
so...the new Mission architect stuff looks cool, huh?

If IC is thinking tank then I'll head on over to the scrapper powersets and have a look at those. I'm feeling a little meleeish but I'm not sure dual tanks would be that awesome.
Maybe I'll do dual blades and explore the combo system a little. Be warned, though, I still plan on the 'jump into the middle of the spawn' playstyle.
