Ryuji smiled and mimicked the voice of an old man, "Sometimes the answer you seek can be found veiled within a thousand more."
-
Ryuji shrugged, "I guess age really does make people crabby."
-
"Just do jobs for other students. Most of em just give you whole fruits rather than a bag of seeds. It's just faster that way," Reishi replied.
(OOC: How many students TOTAL do we have? We'll need an even number on each side for the soccer game. Obviously the two tempest guys are on the same team by default) -
"It has a name. Immortality. Makes being a hero easier at least. I know that no matter what happens, I'm walking out of this alive. The only question is in how many pieces," Ryuji replied grimly, "I can tell you don't like me by the way. That's good, you won't be attached enough to try something stupid like trying to save me."
-
"Y'know, physically speaking, I am a kid. This...happened to me when I was oh...fifteen or so. I'm not 100% clear, since our calendar was a little different. A lot of people point out I'm angsty. You would be too if you were perpetually a teenager," Ryuji added at the kid comment, "So yeah, call me 'kid' if you feel like it. Just don't call me 'old man'."
-
"Personally I think our translucent companion's presence here is more than enough evidence that there's something after death," Ryuji commented.

I'm in a bit of a quandry over a character I recently created. She's a natural scrapper and I'm not sure how to handle the travel power, so I thought I'd see what some other people had to say.
The concept is an agile fighter who gets around via a grapple line and a cape/glider. My question is; do I use Fly or Super Jump? Fly more closely imitates the act of gliding, but Super Jump has the nice "open arms" pose for gliding that Fly lacks. I'm not really interested in which power is better for in-game travel, just which one best fits the concept.
So, what do you think?
[/ QUOTE ]
Super Jump
why?
Not only does it fit the 'gliding' aspect better (in the words of Woody from Toy Story, gliding isn't flying, it's 'Falling with Style') but it's actually the game's superior travel power anyway. The only disadvantage is you can't go as high as a flyer or teleporter. But that's what temp powers are for.

Bah, so says you. If you know how to perform the 'window-climb', it is easy to get to the top of even the tallest skyscraper in Steel Canyon.

i'm talkin having some wacko in siren's clal park their keister at just above max jump distance and unload damage. building climbing is a little different. -

"Hey if you wanna research somethin worthwhile find a way to kill me. It's been a few centuries and I still haven't figured out how," Ryuji said in his typical tone.
-
Ryuji had been moving towards the back of the group, essentially as a rear guard to ensure nothing tried to sneak up on him.
"I don't think you can be half ghost," he commented. -
(OOC: Reishi called everyone, and given there are only 2 Tempest students left, it's not much of a stretch to fill in the hole with someone going to retrieve the Tempest students. The school is big, after all)
-
El Guapo Grande was, once again, lost. He and the kraken had gotten into a very ugly battle, but the tentacled thing refused to move, even without its tentacles. Or brains.
So the large naked man began running around the sewers once more, until he heard the familiar grunt of trolls... -
It was then that an elderly, but jovial man appeared behind Yuri.
"High Master!" Ran and Reishi called out simultaneously.
"Oh my, this young one doesn't want to play? For shame, for shame," he said, a warm grandfatherly smile on his face, "Mistress Tenryuu, Mistress Xiao, did you explain the earning system?"
"Uh, no," Reishi said, "I just kinda showed up, Mountain Master and Tempest Master had other duties to attend to, so I guess I just became de facto guide eh?"
"Oh, a bit more than that I'm afraid," the old man cleared his throat, "Young ones, I'm afraid we have an overabundance of students at this time, so the usual teachers are quite busy. In response, I am now asking Mistress Tenryuu to be your personal general instructor and...for lack of a better term...faculty advisor."
"But, High Master, I'm not a teacher..." Reishi objected.
"The young girl standing next to you suggests differently," High Master mused.
"Well...ok...on one condition," Reishi relented.
"And what would that be?" High Master stroked his chin.
"Ran helps me," Reishi stated.
"I don't see why not, is that acceptable Mistress Xiao?"
"I see no forseeable problems, it appears these students need help in the food production field as well," Ran replied.
"Good good...now how about you explain the earning system?" High Master continued.
"Oh, yes," Reishi cleared her throat and turned to the students, "As we mentioned before, you have to grow or raise your own food. Obviously stealing is out of the question, so some of you were probably wondering 'How do we get seeds or livestock when we have none?' It's pretty simple actually, you just need to earn it from someone willing to share in exchange for a task. These can be easy, like fetching buckets of water or carrying oxen..."
"Uh, Reishi, that's only easy for you..." Ran cut in.
"Oh, right...anyway, as the Twin Temples' best gardener..."
"Botanist."
"Whatever. I'm sure Ran would probably be willing to give some seeds or fruit to you, in exchange for doing something for her," Reishi nudged Ran.
"Oh, yes. If you participate in this soccer game, I'll give you each one bag of seed. If you WIN, I'll let you pick out one of my prized chickens," Ran explained, "But you only get the bag of seed if everyone participates. This is a team effort, and you're all a team now." -
As the kraken turned into krakenpops, Ryuji and his group moved on.
Meanwhile, El Guapo Grande had dealt with his kraken in a very similar way. Except it involved fire, not ice, and stomach acid.
Needless to say the glorious El Guapo Grande was without clothes now...except his mask. -

Later at the field...
"Ok guys...this is a soccer field," Reishi indicated the field, "And this is a soccer ball."
Reishi held up a soccer ball and twirled it on her finger.
"This ball is rather unique," she said, dropping it.
The ball sank into the ground. It was clearly heavy.
Reishi picked the ball up again, and bounced it. This time it seemed to be light.
"The ball responds to a certain amount of ki, chi, nen, whatever placed inside by the person holding it. You MUST focus your energy, but it must be even, it must be spherical, or else..."
The ball suddenly popped.
"Now, of course, you can go without focusing your energy into the ball, but you'll be at a disadvantage. Keep in mind that physical strength can work against you in this match. I can't count the times Ran has made the ball lighter and caused me to kick the ball into orbit," something about Reishi's tone almost implied she wasn't kidding, and that somewhere in outer space a soccer ball was floating around. -
(OOC: I have a better idea. For now keep doing what you were doing til after the soccer game. This idea will work out a little better given our small numbers and give me a wee bit more control over what's happening.)

"I hope for his sake the Kraken doesn't know enough to chew," Starfall wondered aloud.
[/ QUOTE ]
Starfall's comment had little validity, as the kraken's jaw was the first thing to freeze. -
The tension was broken by the beeping of Ryuji's watch.
"Okay guys, STAND BACK! Time to make some krakenpops!" he announced.
On both arms he manifested two large ice spikes, his 'delivery system'.
And then he leapt...
right into the kraken's 'mouth'. -

Hahaha, I know what you mean. When you DON'T want them to spawn the suckers, they manage to, and when you DO want the engy's to call 'em, they never do.
Getting that badge was a PAIN...

it's even worse when you're a stalker and there's 3 of those guys in one group. -
(OOC: Well that should be it for the action at the hospital
)
-
(OOC: McMahon is a psychotic Catholic Priest, not a doctor)
Aimee's idea didn't seem to work, and Kara smashed the bowl across the room.
"KARA STOP NOW!" came Mina's scream, resonating on the very walls of the hospital. All at once, anyone on the second floor within earshot that was doing anything of any sort, suddenly stopped what they were doing.
Kara, too, seemed to snap out of it.
"Wha-What happened?" she said, looking at herself, "What am I? Why am I...? Did I...?"
"Calm down," Mina said, "It's my fault."
"H-how?!"
"It's...complicated. First we'll have to trust that our little 'intruder' keeps this quiet. For her sake more than ours," Mina looked at Aimee, but Aimee would be unable to move, being still under the shock of Mina's command.
"I...don't know why you changed. I don't know why that song changes people. But I know what you are," Mina explained, "Everyone, everything, has a balance of good and evil within them. Chaos and order, savage and civilized. What you are now is what humans really are: neither evil, nor good. You are both, and my song...increased...the two. It made your dark, savage side and your bright, civilized side stronger. I've only done it once before, and you probably saw the result when you got this."
Mina held up the teddy bear.
"We MUST keep this quiet, not only for our own sakes, but for Kara's sake as well. The last person this happened to is being held somewhere. Studied. Dissected. They are in a living hell, and have probably been completely taken over..." Mina said to Aimee, but was interrupted by Kara.
"Wait, taken over?! What do you mean?" Kara cut in.
"It's...a bit like those good and evil games. The more good you do, the stronger the 'light' side becomes. Your wings are the most obvious 'light' trait, but there are others. Conversely, the more savage or chaotic things you do, the more beast-like you become. Or at least that's what I assume from what I've seen," Mina explained.
"Can I become human again? Or am I stuck like this?"
"Only if you want to," Mina said, "Think hard about yourself. But...the last person said that...your human body is only a disguise."
Kara closed her eyes and thought hard about herself. After another moment that seemed like an eternity of blinding pain, she was human once more. With a torn uniform.
After a moment she stood back up.
"So is that all your singing does? Turn people into...whatever the hell I turned into?" Kara asked, a bit flustered at this point.
Mina giggled, "No, if that were true, this nurse and all the people on this floor would be killing each other. I can sing other songs...like this one."
Mina began singing a blissful hymn. All at once both nurses were caught in a state of bliss themselves. Any doctor that examined them would know the song triggered a release of endorphins.
Meanwhile, Father McMahon's cellphone rang. No surprise the ringtone was 'Amazing Grace'.
"Yes?" he answered after pulling himself off the car he had landed on, alarming the balding, middle-aged school principal who merely yelled 'MY CRESTA!!!!' before passing out.
"Have you taken care of the heretic?" came the voice on the other end.
"No. She's awakened another," McMahon replied, "I'll make another attempt after the dust has settled."
"No I don't believe that will be possible," came the voice of another figure. (OOC: NO THIS IS NOT THE GUY ON THE PRIEST'S PHONE.)
Father McMahon turned to face the voice, only to come face to face with the business end of a modified desert eagle.
"Goodbye, priest," the blonde haired man said, and pulled the trigger. -
"Well, when you kids are finished with your bath, meet on the Third Mountain Field. It's the one with the white lines. We're playing soccer!" Reishi said, "And don't worry about the validity towards your training. You'll understand when you get there."
-

"Sadly we had nothing of that sort at the temple," Yin answered. "I am always eager to learn new skills though. Do the Temples have such things?" He hadn't really thought about what kinds of differences there would be between this school and his old temple.
[/ QUOTE ]
Reishi was rather taken aback.
"So you've never played soccer? Or dodgeball? Or baseball? Jeez!" she exclaimed.
"Perhaps you should teach them, Reishi?" Ran suggested.
Reishi grinned. -
(OOC: And uh, in case anyone was confused, the two schools are undergoing their 'training' separately at this point.
i.e. Jake and the other tempest students are nowhere near the bevvy of naked or nearly naked girls occupying the waterfall spring.)
